This West Salem Walgreens used to be a great store. It has really gone down hill. Went in to get a passport photo today. The clerk took my name and phone number. Went back in 5 hours later and one of the "managers" was there. No photo. The SD card isn't working, which he said has been a problem. He said he wasn't told anything when he came on shift about my photo. I asked if it would be policy for the clerk to call me and let me know it couldn't be done, so I'd know to go elsewhere. He just said, "yeah, she should have called." That's it. If they knew there was a problem, why wasn't that relayed to all employees and consequently, to customers? Also, the store has been very dirty. I've asked when the janitor might be coming in. I was told they don't have one to do floors and someone on each shift is supposed to be cleaning them. Is everyone still using COVID as an excuse for poor customer service and lack of help? read more

All the pharmacy staff are always as helpful each and every time I go inside or go through the drive thru window. They always make me feel as if my needs are important to them and always ask if I need help or have any questions. They're very professional and caring. read more

Slow as hell wait to drop off a prescriptions and took 30 minutes. And there was only two people ahead of me.

I was in dire need of a prescription. I signed online last month at Walgrens to be notified of the status of my prescriptions, especially if there was a problem with a prescription. I was not notified of prescriptions that the doctor ordered Monday. Today is Thursday and I still was not called. I have been given a prescription of 1 am pill and 2 bedtime pills for the last three months by the same doctor to control my pains from a fall. Walgrens has filled this nerve pain prescription every month. Walgrens pharmacy came upon an error when they received 2 scripts for this drug. The pharmacy did not call me about the problem even though its my medicine for nerve pains. The pharmacy was out of the second drug the doctor ordered for me and did not call me to let me know or arrange to get the medicine elsewhere. They just claimed they were out of the medicine. They did not say they tried to get the medicine from another Walgrens. read more

As another reviewer said -- the store is usually empty. But the pharmacy is overwhelmed. We have only 2 pharmacies on the west side and as everybody knows, west salem is way overpopulated for it's available services and road structure (don't get me started on the "one way in and out over the bridge!). This pharmacy is always out of meds (on back order). I understand that the warehouse is empty because of the trucking business and COVID but, like another customer said, this pharmacy does not send you elsewhere for the needed drugs. I agree that a few pharmacy staff are very kind but that doesn't go far if you aren't getting the drugs. I've been with this Walgreens for more than 10 years. I'm thinking of switching to rite aid across the bridge --but then there's the bridge traffic!!! read more

Wowza!!! Just picked up my rx and am blown away by the rudeness of the pharmacy tech who just helped me (Emily I think). She was extremely short, irritated and couldn't even force a smile. If you hate your job that much, maybe you should move on. If you're just a miserable person...customer service is something you should NOT be doing!! EVERYTIME I go into this location the service is awful. Everytime the sale items are out of stock and when you ask someone about looking for more you are met with attitude. If you need to go to Walgreens I'd go to another location. read more

In general, Walgreen's in West Salem is okay. My wife and I had influenza and covid vaccines in late October. But in mid- to late-November we travelled to Denver and came home very sick. Thought at first it was Covid, but testing later confirmed it was Influenza A. It appears that their vaccine was entirely ineffective. read more

Worst pharmacy I have ever been to. I was fresh out of knee surgery today and we went by and they said they didn't have my prescription in the system for me. Called my dr when we got home and he called them and the pharmacist said they did get it, but I was so far down the list the wouldn't have me for a day in a half so they decided to tell me they didn't have it... my dr told them that was BS and that he would direct his future prescriptions somewhere else if that's how they were going to treat his patients. Because of them I didn't have my prescription after surgery for 5.5 hours and was in excruciating pain. We went to Safeway and after an hour and the pharmacist going above and beyond, I got my prescription tonight, THAT is how you are suppose to work in that field. read more

The store itself is fine, generally kinda eerie and empty, but the service is decent. However, the pharmacy is a different story. Every time I've waited in line to pick up a prescription (and there has always been a line of 2+ people), there has been one customer who storms off angrily from the pickup window. I've previously thought that these people must have a short temper, and tried to be extra friendly when it was my turn. A few days ago I went in to pick up a prescription that my Dr. had sent right to them, which they had never filled. The cashier asked if I wanted to wait 20 minutes to have them fill it, or if I wanted to come back another day. I told her I didn't have time to wait and would be back that evening. She took my prescription card, 15 minutes later when I asked her what I was waiting for, she explained that they were trying to "verify my insurance information". I told her that I did not have time to wait (as I stated earlier), and she said if they hung up they'd have to call back when I returned. Finally they "verified" the coverage, and I told her I would be back in 20 minutes to pick it up. When I returned a few hours later, a different cashier said that they "were really busy" and they "hadn't had time to fill it". So I continued to wait for another 25 minutes that evening for them to fill it. Clearly this is NOT the pharmacy to go to, unless you have all day to wait for their horrible customer service. read more

Wife just had hysterectomy and I decided to fill her prescription for pain meds at West Salem Walgreens. Outside line was choked with cars so went inside. Guy at the counter seemed more interested in arranging his long hair than in dealing with customers. When I finally stepped up to the counter, the hair-dude informed me that they were "out" of the drug. This is probably the most common pain drug used for everything from back pain to surgery recovery. Who manages this place? Does anyone think to reorder things. Or is hair-dude slipping pain drugs out the back door? Lots of questions. Wife was in the car coming out of anesthesia and had to get her home to bed. Didn't get prescription filled until the next day, at a pharmacy that hires professionals. If you rely on prescriptions, use a different pharmacy. read more

Pharmacy staff is extremely rude. When I could not understand what was said and politely asked for it to be repeated the response I received was "I SAID.... (followed by what I asked for)" Very unfriendly. read more

I'm a regular at this store and every time I go there the people are always so nice and helpful if I need to find something. Went there also to print some photos off my phone and I didn't feel rushed at all whatsoever :) the woman walked me step by step through the process. read more

Consistently friendly and fast. That's pretty much all you can ask for in a pharmacy. My last pharmacy (which will remain unnamed but rhymes with shafe-way) was unfriendly AND slow...shoot me now. I'm so happy I switched. Added bonus: There is a drive up window for extra convenience. read more

Call up first to make sure they will take your insurance before your prescriptions are sent there. Not sure if this shall be a future issue with Rite Aid since Walgreens bought them out recently. Other than that it's okay. read more
