I hate writing reviews because everyone has bad days but it's recurring problem at this particular Walgreens Pharmacy. The counter people are NOT friendly and seem more irritated to be there than to explain important information to the people picking up. I noticed with people in line before me and when it was my turn. Most people don't fully understand insurance and medications. This specific Walgreens at 4001 Canal St. in New Orleans is not a functional Walgreens. They have proved that they cannot be relied on over and over again over the course of the last year and a half. They've made my life difficult pretty much every chance they get with their inability to be organized in a field where organization should be a priority. To top it off, they are also incredibly rude and defensive when asked normal questions. In my opinion, It's possible this is an attempt to hide their own negligence. I've decided I'm done with getting my prescriptions there and am moving to a different pharmacy despite having to drive further. My advice, use at your own risk. read more

Had a flu shot scheduled today and there's always a wait so I asked if I had time to take passport photos. The pharmacy tech said yes. So I asked about getting my photo taken and the lady said their camera was down but I could go somewhere else. Defeating the purpose I started to walk away when I thought, "why don't we use my phone?" She said yes, helped me take my photos and get them uploaded to print! Before I could even go back for my shot my prints were ready and she said she would put them at the front checkout as I had other purchases. Top notch service today! read more

My neighborhood Walgreens could be a lot worse all things considered. They are always out of anything in deep sale. Someone must come and wipe out the clearance stuff on a tip from an employee. The pharmacy staff is very competent. Be well. read more

On the South East corner of Canal and Carrollton, this is a nice store that seems to have been built within the last decade or so. In the parking lot, before you even go in, there might be some random panhandler asking for money, saying they will be there when you get out. I'm not sure how much is supposed to scare me or if they mean to reassure me, but it is kind of scary in the dim light of an evening. They do have the Blue Rhino propane tanks outside, but no Red-box. They have your typical drive thru pharmacy. Inside is neat, clean and well organized. It does have a nice seasonal section that seems to be better stocked than most Walgreens. Do NOT come here during Endymion, it will be packed to the gills and sold out of almost everything by the end of the shift, and there will be all sorts of drunk tourists and parade goers. It is bound to be annoying and wear the cashiers so thin on patience, I am sure they need a month off to recuperate. So. Be nice to these clerks, I am so sure this is a difficult location to work at. Do not be rude to them! If you drunks from watching the parade harass these people, remember there is karma. But that is probably a good thing for everyone to take into consideration. We came to this Walgreens a few times because it was right down the street from where we were staying. It was a simple bus ride down. There weren't any other convenient stores in the near area, so we were thankful for this. It had everything I needed and I was able to find a perfume that I loved. The staff were super friendly! New Walgreens on Canal & Carrollton, works for me. Great area. Easily accessible. Quick #inandout. Friendly staff. Parking always seems difficult. I guess folks are steering clear of parking in the nearby 1st NBC lot, good idea... Me thinks they just might have #towingfever. I like that this Walgreens has a very nice seasonal section... so here you'll find lots of Saints, LSU, Mardi Gras items... this is great as only a few other Walgreens have ample areas such as this. Additionally, I like that there's a plethora of items here that one would may not be able to find else where. One annoying thing, is the restroom has a code placed on the door... I visited this walgreens under threat of divorce due to an ongoing hacking cough that was keeping everybody in my house up. Since I was sick I was slightly more needy than usual and was helped by the doctor in the clinic, the pharmacist and a clerk stocking the over the counter medicine isle. All cheery, knowledgeable, and practical (ie I could tell/sell you this but I am going to LISTEN to what you are saying and advise you on what you actually need). Two days later and I am at 96% thanks to them. One word of advice, when I attempted to make an appointment for the clinic online it said that the clinic does not take appointments. When I arrived several people were there with appointments and not as walk-ins. It could be that the max appointments had been set for that day or hour but that is not what it said online it just said it didn't take appointments at the location. At least I think that is what it said. What do I know, I was sick. read more

Love love LOVE the fact that this is a 24 hour Walgreenes. It was a glorious day when they announced the new hours, not very long ago. Being the night crawler I am, I'm always finding myself needing something out of left field at 3:23 am. And it's usually items that have nothing to do with each other, like peanut butter and light bulbs. It's super close to my house, and I know that has nothing to do with you reading this, but I'm ecstatic about the fact that I can hop on the cruiser whenever the f I need to and head a few blocks down to Walgreenes to get my late night box of cereal and shampoo. I'm not sure if I've reaped the benefits of having a rewards card, but I have it (meh). The staff has been pretty helpful whenever I needed them. And there's also that hot chic that works in the pharmacy. Yes, I make it a point to make a round to see if she's working, that girl's got it. Anyway...every now and then you'll be greeted by a homeless person asking for EXACTLY 67 cents in change. Sidenote: I'm always curious, whenever I'm asked by a homeless person for some obscure amount of change like 67 cents, in my head I'm like, "what are you THAT close to, to where 67 cents is the make or break point?" Like, you really think I have two quarters, a dime, one nickel and two pennies exactly to give? I think it's funny. Every task at this store takes decades to complete. Do not think that you'll run in and grab something from this store, you'll be in for a rude awakening. Also, don't make an appointment for any type of vaccination at this store and expect that time frame to be respected. Time is an enigma here. read more

The Pharmacy here is incredibly rude. I have called with simple questions several times about filling prescriptions, and always get rude impatient answers to my questions. Never helpful, and I am always made to feel like I am inconveniencing them. I will not make the mistake again. Terrible service. read more

Man, there are some Angry Karens in these reviews. Been coming here for six months, never had a problem. Even had one of the pharmacy assistance save me $100+ on a prescription by doing a little bureaucracy on my behalf. Yeah, the staff at the front registers are a little curt, and they have no patience for people who hesitate for even a second in lining up "correctly." But they're still nice enough otherwise, and if you aren't the sort of person who gets into a huff at the slightest little questioning of your dignified royal perfection, there's nothing at all wrong with this place. If you're the princess of some foreign nation, you should by all means avoid this place and have your staff of underpaid servants do the shopping for you. Otherwise, get a grip on yourself. It's a convenience store, not Saks Fifth Avenue. I mean, look at these people. One complained because they wouldn't scan five different toys for him. One one-starred because they were (GASP) out of milk. (How can that even be LEGAL, my god!) One was just whiny because the staff had tattoos. It's just hard to take these kinds of "problems" seriously. read more

I was not on the corner of Happy + Healthy at the Walgreens on the corner of Canal + Carrollton. Somehow the cheery radio Walgreens commercials that promote grabbing your milk at Walgreens instead of speed walking to the very back of the grocery store burrowed into my brain, and just yesterday I thought to myself, "I should go to Walgreens to fetch my milk for my coffee since I'm trying to save $$ and the grocery store will just woo me into a full shopping cart and a gallon of regret." The wind was picking up on my quiet corner. I grabbed my raincoat just in case, hopped in my car, and booked it over to the the Walgreens. A few droplets fell from the sky, but I left the raincoat in the car because it should only take a hot second to grab the lait and leave. I do a little hop, skip, and a jump and there I am standing in front of the drink section and the milk is TOTALLY out. Completely empty...I look about in complete shock, and then hear the crackle of an impending deluge hellbent on drowning MidCity. Damn. Prior visits were mediocre, occasionally dodging a homeless person every now and then near the entrance, long lines (pro-tip: go to the makeup checkout). They keep a few stars for a $20 backpack chair that's solid for festivals but there was only one left at the time. I'm not hating on Walgreens as an entire brand, and there may have been milk in the back, I could've asked but was hoping to stay dry. It was a Tuesday around 11am. In the case of convenience, this was really inconvenient. I will most likely be back here, and will update you all on the milk situation. read more

Can't say that I've ever had a good experience here. I keep going back because they usually have what I need (except when I wanted a poncho before one rainy Jazz Fest), but I won't make that mistake again! The problem I have is with the customer service. It is hard to find anyone to help and no one is ever really that helpful! There's never enough register lines open and I always get caught behind someone having problems and the manager is nowhere to be found, etc etc What you think is going to be a quick and convenient stop will be the exact opposite here. read more

This is a really nice Walgreens in a good location. I was actually in Mid City and craving lemonade, of all things, so I stopped in here to pick one up. There weren't any long lines and the staff seemed efficient. It's basically the same as any other Walgreens. read more

To me, this is like any other Walgreens with a couple of extra perks. Some of the staff is great, some not so much. Sometimes the lines are long, sometimes it's not. Sometimes they are fully stocked and sometiems they are behind on their orders and you're left not getting that very basic item you needed. One person was comparing it to the Walgreens on Claiborne & Carrollton. I used to live by there so I used to vist that Walgreens almost daily and I can tell you that Walgreens is not better than this one. In fact, I distinctly remember the pharmaceutical staff being pretty much useless when I needed help with anything. I mean really, it was astouinding how little they knew or maybe they just did not want to help....eitherway, it was annoying. However, a few extra perks with the Canal and Carrollton location: -24 hrs - can't beat that -The pharmacy line can be long, but the two times I've called to ask questions about a particular medication, the pharmacists were very helpful and seemed to know what they were talking about. -The location is prime-- really, it's super convenient - I agree with another, the night staff is friendly. read more

This walgreens pharmacy drive up is the worst I've ever been to. If I could give it minus -5 stars I would. Yesterday with a broken hip and on a cane I sat in the drive up for 30 minutes while irate people in front of me were leaving in disgust as the first car was carrying on a 30 minute conversation with the clerk. When I got up close enough that I could hear, the woman in the car was carrying on a 30 minute gossip session with the girl behind the window. This is ridiculous!! So sad. I usually don't mind stopping here occasionally but I NEVER will again. My mom came in from out of town and forgot her medicine so her doctor sent a prescription here no biggy right? Wrong, not only was the pharmacist Reuben Dixon extremely rude over the phone (my mom explained the situation and he literally said "I heard all of that but what's your point?" And then when we got there he was rude to others on the phone and quiet literally throwing those little blue containers that have medicine in them.. I felt bad for the pharmacist tech because he (Mr. Kendrick Grant) was SOOOO nice and tried to work double time to get my mother medicine.. it got so bad we left and went to the other Walgreens that helped us in a snap. read more

Except for late at night I hate this walgreens. The night crew is pretty awesome and nice. The day crew...not so much. The day crew seems to always have a chip on their shoulder. I don't know why. I've asked where things were or questioned which item was a sale item to literally be met with a grunt. Their pharmacy is slow as molasses. I've had a doctor call in a script, called them 2 hours later to see if it was ready (it wasn't) tell them I was going to come pick it up in 30 mins and show up 2 hours later to find it not even typed in yet. UGH. I usually go out of my way to the one on Carrollton and Claiborne just to avoid these guys. Except in the middle of the night. Love the night crew. FYI pharmacy part is NOT 24hrs. read more

Every time I come to this Walgreens I say "I hate this store." Three aisles were blocked with cleaning equipment, the line was super long for no reason, and the shelves were really empty. The worst part is that if you want to buy laundry detergent, you have to push a button and wait for someone to come and unlock the soap for you. I pushed the button and waited... no one ever came. I then had to get in line to tell the cashier that I needed someone to come unlock it. When I told him the button didn't work he said "I don't think there's a button on that aisle." We'll, there was definitely a button, but it's just like this store to have a button that's been broken so long no one who works there knows if it's existence. The lady behind me had to ask to unlock the deodorant. This negates the concept of "convenience store." read more

I came to this Walgreen to purchase some items. I came from San Francisco to visit and I did not know that the line we were on split in 2, so the manager comes over and starts being rude saying really loud MADE ME THINK NO ONE WAS ON RINGING( BEING ON REGISTER) Me personally I don't think you are being professional. And as a manager I think she should of be professional If she doesn't like her job then quit. I have 12 years of customer service and I would never use that tone of voice. I brought my grandmother here to get some makeup and believed it would be an easy in-and-out due to my usual experience with the pharmacy. My grandma wanted to get perfume, which is locked behind the cosmetology counter. We waited a solid 20 minutes for the manager. I would have left, but I am her only transportation and I wanted her to get what she came for. When the manager finally arrived, we let her know that her absence was noticed and she was so incredibly rude to us. She said we were low on her list of priorities. I had to ask her to stop speaking to my grandma in that tone. I understand that she has a job to do, but that job also includes customer service! read more

She only checked out half of my stuff and when I told her the rest of the stuff on the counter was mine she said "well I guess you need to push it up then, we don't have belts!" I consistently have issues getting refills/answers at this location. When I check with my doctor they have never received and refill requests despite being told by staff they are awaiting a response from the doctor. The only reason I continue to go here is because of the location to my home and the late hours. My daughter needs albuterol to BREATHE right! In top of that the staff is no help when trying to solve a problem. They just pass the buck! read more

Horrible service at the Pharmacy, I have been going here for years with the same prescription for the last 2 years. My prescription is renewed automatically on a monthly pick up rotation, I'll get a call from corporate automated system telling me my prescription was filled, I then drive to Walgreens. The associate at the window said she had nothing him her system for me, to which I showed her the call saying it was ready, she told me after 10 days that they put it back. Like I said I go the same day! Not sure why it wasn't actually ready , she told me to go to the back of the line of cars. I told her I would return in a few hours. Not only did she not fill my prescription when I returns a few hours later she was ruder than the first time. There are two female employees in particular that have been substantially rude to me and many of my neighbors , including my mother. From yelling to slamming her phone at me, I didn't appreciate. It was not the normal " Be Well" I get from al of the other associates. I'm sad to say that I will be moving all of my prescriptions to CVS when it opens a few blocks away. read more

Actually a pretty good Walgreens. I've had god experiences with the staff (namely the photo staff), they have a good assortment of products typical of a Walgreens. And they actually have really good deals and a good selection of alcohol. read more

I will never come here again. They literally told me to take pepto bismol without even beginning to get to the root of my issue. Turns out is was salmonella, they didn't have the slightest clue. There is always a security guard at this place, obviously because its located in New Orleans but his attitude is seriously rediculous. He's so rude, never smiles, and assumes the worst from everybody that walks through the door. I guess being on canal street, it's meant to be busy. But three cashiers at 11pm and there were at least 8 people in each line was a joke. Oh well. It's Walgreens. If you need something here be sure to be extra friendly to the cop on duty, because he hates life! read more
