I placed an order online for a large print job at Walgreens since they were the only option in the area that could handle it. The closest FedEx was a 15-minute drive away (and the nearby ones in conference centers or hotels would have cost double or triple), ... as someone in town for a conference, I didn't have a car and honestly didn't want to Uber or somewhere. I ordered a fairly large print job with wire binding online, assuming it wouldn't be an issue since their website indicated they could handle it and complete it within my timeframe. I was clearly wrong. The staff member completely botched the order, printing only about one-eighth of what I actually needed. She obviously didn't read the order before starting because it was pretty substantial. I was expecting a call before my trip to tell me it wasn't possible , but when I got the text saying the order was ready the next day, my gut told me something was wrong. I flew in a day early specifically to check on the order, and sure enough, it was messed up. The staff member I spoke with seemed completely disinterested in helping me and just said "Ma'am, I can't really do anything for you." The one thing she did suggest was leaving a note, but then commented that the woman who did the print job was "the store favorite and nothing will get done." I came back the following morning to check again. This time I spoke with the actual staff member who did the print job, and she seemed completely confused about what went wrong. What made the whole experience even worse was when I talked to the manager - instead of addressing his staff's mistake, he seemed to be blaming me for placing such a large print job there in the first place. This seems like something their corporate office could easily fix by updating their website. I've never been somewhere where customer service consisted of blaming the customer instead of taking responsibility for staff training. The only "redeeming" moment was when the frustrated manager told me to just take the incomplete prints for free, calling it "an expensive print job" - which would be true if his staff had been properly trained and actually printed more than one-eighth of my order.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ read more

After visiting like 5 other drug stores on nearby streets - we finally found one that had a pharmacy where my husband, who recently fell down the stairs at our home, wanted to ask what might give him some relief from bruised ribs. All the drugstores in and around this area were on lockdown and somewhat dingy... I waited 10 minutes for them to unlock a glass case that had some hand lotions of travel size inside it for $5.46. They couldn't find the key and then people kept walking past me to open other cases for people while I waited and my husband got more and more angry... I had looked the small travel-size items and they didn't have what I needed so I felt like I had to wait. Super annoying for such small-ticket items. I suppose there is a lot of theft of those things from this store and area, but still, long time waiting for a $5 lotion. read more

Nice clean historic Walgreens on Canal Street. Walgreen Drug Company of Chicago opened their first store in New Orleans at this location on Canal Street in 1938. It was the first new construction on Canal Street since the Saenger Theater, another historic landmark, was built in 1927. They secured a 50-year lease, which was extended to 60 years, for this prime location. Love the Art Deco Streamline Modern design with the curved corner frontage. At the time, it housed a 100-foot-long soda counter, a second-floor mezzanine restaurant and a pharmacy. The original Walgreens on Canal was expanded after the original lease expired. The Art Deco design was maintained, and the original neon sign was restored. The renovation and restoration had a $5 million price tags. We stopped in for some supplies. I ended up grabbing some toothpaste and a few other items. My friends did a round and grabbed some beer here. I forgot that you can grab beer at pharmacies in the US. The store feels feels like a lot of things are behind casing. When I was in line, I was in pretty quickly but the lineup is kind of odd. I waited a bit for somebody, went to pay and was in the wrong line so I had to go to another one. OK place, but feels like it's an oversized sketchy convenience store at the same time. read more

Drawn to the neon sign, decided to check this place out for some snacks. Got in line after gathering all we needed and noted a guy with his arms full of beer walk right past the line and left with the beer. The employees saw it and a customer near the door asked if they had seen this. The cashier said yes and that it happens all day long, but Walgreens policy is not to stop them. While I get that the average employee should not stop them and that Walgreens recently had an issue with a security guard in SF, they need to do something. Costs of thefts affect all customers. If a Good Samaritan customer steps in, the liability may extend to Walgreens. Doing nothing is not in the best interest of customers, employees or the business. read more

We were visiting New Orleans and our hotel was around the corner from this location, more or less. It was so convenient to have this location here in case we forgot to bring a necessity or needed some last minute essentials. The store has big, neon lights on the outside and kind of has a retro vibe to it. It's surprisingly big inside! And they had everything we needed. Some of the items come in locked boxes that the staff needs to take off for you, or they are behind locked glass but that seems to be a standard in larger cities at Walgreens (they do the same at SF, LA, Portland, Etc.) This store is a total nightmare! This review is totally serious and one that needs to be taken as such, considering the times in which we now live. What started out to be a simple transaction by making purchase on an item requiring ID, drastically turned into something more. Somewhere around April 11th, I went in to buy something behind the counter and was asked to show ID. When I handed it over, the cashier said in the most obvious manner indicating that it was all a hoax that she'd dropped it by "accident" into a crack which fell under the counter unable to retrieve. Because of the horrible week I was having, I knew right away it was a total lie and I said as much. Calmly. For one thing, before I even entered the store, the security guard came right up stating the store was closed in the creepiest manner like someone who enjoys screwing around with people. I was totally weirded out, especially knowing what I already knew, but he said that he was just kidding so I went in. They ganged up on me so fast and cruelly, that it was undeniably orchestrated beforehand and in the most heinous and predatory manner. The week I was having, I'd been brutally attacked with a 2x4 piece of lumber as some random act of violence and my arm was broken. No one wanted to help me, Tulane refused to help medically in the ER and refused to get the referral information for orthopedics, etc. etc. ...there was SO much more than that, too much to go into. The other lady had the manager on the phone, asked me to enter my rewards telephone number which is nothing but a colossal data grab, so stupid me enters it and the manager offered a 10 dollar gift card which I declined...Hell, a duplicate ID is at least twice as much plus the whole thing was nothing more than a previously planned out and VERY creepy scam. That one main security guy would NOT stop antagonizing me. Calling across Canal St. where I ended up going in front of IHOP, who jacked all my data while on their open wifi the week before, trying to bait me by hollering that he had my ID just to try and make me fool by going over there, which I did not. It was just horrible and very disturbing. I could go on and on. Weeks later, I still don't have the state issued ID even though they were supposed to take whichever measures to try and get to it the next day. Of course, no one knows anything even though I stopped by several times just for the hell of it knowing they never had any intention of returning it.. A little while afterward I was unexpectedly and late in the evening denied access to the low barrier shelter where I stay, which of course, was another troll setup, nothing more, I went back to the 24 hour store to get something to eat and was totally mobbed and I have it all on video. How in the world can these people do this? I've seen them trolling random tourists on Canal St mostly young female adults. They know there's not a damn thing to be done about it, and I find it SICK and most horrifying! Take my advice and don't ever go into Walgreens store number 4305! They are remote live round the clock with those that are out trolling on the street. I guess I'm late to the party, I had NO idea. read more

This Walgreens was located across the street from our hotel, The Ritz Carlton New Orleans on Canal Street. My spouse said it's one of their older locations which was apparent due to the old school rainbow logo & font in bright neon lights perched above the entrance. We popped in to get some drinks and snacks to take back to the room. Selection was good, like any other location I've been to, and prices were competitive. SERVICE: The female cashier we had was either mute or just an unhappy soul. Of course we didn't receive a greeting but my spouse did one for her in which we got no response. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Can't you even say "hi"? No price was mentioned so you had to look at her register screen. And of course no thank you was received either. She should find employment behind the scenes where she doesn't have to deal with humans. Three simple rules, honey. 1) Greet. 2) Be pleasant. 3) Thank. TIP: Closes at midnight. If I wasn't from Chicago and knew that Walgreens was based out of Deerfield, Illinois, I would think this was the Flagship store. And that it hasn't been changed since 1957! (see pics) I mean, surely this Walgreens was a Woolworth's previously. Can you smell that old Walgreens' smell of roach spray and cheap cosmetics? But when you walk into the store it smells, it's dirty, and a lot of the isles the day we were there were very messy. There is no shortage of drugstores in the French Quarter / CBD area, as you will find nearly 1/2 dozen offerings within a mile of Canal & Bourbon Street. To be honest, this Walgreen's is definitely not my neighborhood location. However, it is very close to my work; and in times of need, it's my "emergency" go to spot for over the counter medications or similar sundries. The employees here have always been courteous and have even offered to assist me in looking for whatever particular item I was shopping for. The inside of the store is similar to most other Walgreen's but there is definitely a bias towards tourism, as there are numerous tourist related sundries and gifts that can be purchased here. Probably the coolest feature about this store is the incredible neon light "marquis" hanging over the entrance. If you are a tourist to New Orleans, you'll likely be in the French Quarter area. Do yourself a favor and pass by after sundown and check out the neon artwork. read more

I was in this Walgreen's, looking for some tasty ice cream in the ice cream aisle. I was in the ice cream aisle when I had a heart attack in the ice cream aisle. I started screaming in the ice cream aisle, and Tanya came running to the ice cream aisle. She performed CPR in the ice cream aisle, and just before I floated into the great light beyond the ice cream aisle... Tanya saved my life in the ice cream aisle. On 2 separate trips to New Orleans now, this Walgreens has proven to be indispensable. Staying in the French Quarter is fantastic for a lot of things but not for any real kind of practicality. Located just across Canal, this Walgreens was only a few blocks from the hotel & had all the basic necessities for an out-of-towner visiting a few days to a week. Most notably this last time, they had rain ponchos. The 2nd day of Yelp Spring Break brought thunderstorms the likes of which a Californian like myself rarely sees. No problem. While I was here getting energy drinks, I also grabbed ponchos. This Walgreens isn't particularly exceptional compared to any other Walgreens, but it's all about location, location, location. I know next time I'm back in town, if I'm staying in/ near the French Quarter, I'll be back at this Walgreens getting the stuff I need. read more

Walgreens on Canal, it is a New Orleans landmark. The entrance is positioned so that it is on the corner of the block. It is striking; the type of building that evokes thoughts of Art-Deco and makes you want to take a closer look. During the day, the building is notable. In the evening, when the exterior lights come on, it is a sight to see. The neon lights surrounding the outside of the building are primary colors, designed to draw your eye directly to the front door. When you go inside, of course it is like every other Walgreens. You know what you are getting. The selection is pretty wide and they have most of what you need. I feel like the prices in this store maybe higher than in the suburbs, but I have never remembered to compare it. I have never had a bad experience here, the staff seems suitably bored, and this store can get quite crowded. If you want to make a stop in the obligatory photo fest that is New Orleans Tourism, stop by and take a picture of the Walgreens on Canal Street. read more

This review is for the pharmacy! They have TERRIBLE customer service! My BF got out of the emergency room after being there for 6 hours, and we had to get his prescription for the night. We got there 15 min before closing. The pharmacist, refused to fill it and wanted to come back the next day at 10:30 AM! He had severe reaction and he had to take his medication that night! I explained it to him and he said he has many other prescriptions to fill in the next 15 min! I guess this douche hasn't learned how to prioritize the emergency medication! The next day we go, a gal is working there, and she really wanted us to get our booster without even asking if we already got it or not! Anyways, we asked for the medication. Guess what! these idiots forgot to include 1 of the 3 medications that was in the prescription! The only reason we noticed that is because I CHECKED BEFORE LEAVING! I walked back and said "there is one missing". she said "oo ya, you can take it from over the counter". WHAT! Isn't it her JOB? Residents of New Orleans I certainly hope this event is an exception to the customer service you get for your pharmacy! Am at work on a continuing sketch art project. (Miss LaShonda, shown here) I needed the use of a photo kiosk: I was recommended to try Walgreen's. The Decatur Street store's was not working; so I went to 900 Canal. A bit of a walk from Jackson Square where we live, but worth it. I want to give a special shout out to Mariah, who seemed to be just waiting for me to walk in. When I explained what I was after, she was lovely - advised me the quickest and best way to print the original artwork: she downloaded from my cellphone the drawings I was using. Then made excellent copies, in the exact sizes I needed! My other concern - the color quality of the reproductions? It was superb. And the cost, reasonable. She couldn't have been nicer. We moved here from NYC in July 2019 so we are longtime Walgreens Customers. Glad to see the tradition of helpfulness and gracious professionalism is as strong here in NOLA as it was in the Apple. I go to this Walgreens every night For almost 3yrs to reload my NetSpend card to get a Lyft home to meterie. I went in last night and the cashier's working told me my card was not reloadable and intentionally kept putting in the wrong card type I explained this to them and they snapped out on me so I was stuck in the quarter at 2am . Fee mins later a black women walked in with the same kinda Card and the 2 black cashier's loaded her card no problem . Sad world we live in I'm married to a black man I never seen color . This Walgreens visit was more for my friend trying to find a bottle opener as a souvenir (he didn't find the right one). The place looked clean and organized since I didn't see anything scattered. This was one block away from the CVS so good place to come to if CVS didn't have what you needed. It seemed like this place wasn't as busy as the CVS one block away. I wonder why... but it probably had to do with the fact CVS was pretty much on the same street as Bourbon Street which would be the first thing everybody saw. Worse service!! Asked someone to open the case for some Lysol spray. She comes over with the key to open the box. This very rude lady comes up who also works in the store and says the box doesn't open. I was visiting New Orleans on vacation and ran out of an important medication I called John in Pharmacy late at night and told him my situation and that it was Eliquis to avoid strokes and asked for 14 pills because i was out and lost the recent new refill. He told me no problem he would get it filled for me and see if the insurance would actually pay for it. I checked back and he got it approved for insurance to pay and told me i could pick it up in the morning. John went above the call of duty and helped me out of a tough situation i was afraid to be without my medicine and was told not to stop the prescription under any circumstances. I've lived in the CBD for three years. Every time I've come to this Walgreens, my experience has been worse than the last time. This store is dirty, smelly, and poorly stocked, with long lines and slow customer service. Many of the items are located in locked cabinets and staff are slow to assist customers in opening them.
