I know, 5 star review for Walgreens? During holiday rush and cold/flu season no less? YES! I stopped yesterday to get a few supplements and pick up two prescriptions. One associate hunted in the store and online for one supplement with no luck, but all the rest were steeply discounted. One prescription was awaiting some details before it could be filled, but staff unsuccessfully checked for my provider one more time. Throughout staff were pleasant and professional. Today when I returned for the script, I was greeted by name by Cesar who let me know that he had called again without luck, but would try again while I was there. 5 minutes later I left with my prescription in hand. My only regret with this review is that it's a few years too late, and I'm not sure if the current workers there are just as incompetent as when I sought service there, but I don't figure I'd be interested in finding out anytime soon. And with my recommendation, neither should you. Here goes. If I could give this Walgreens zero (or negative) stars, I would. Being so traumatized years ago at this location has left me only recently able to reconcile with how I was treated, giving me an ounce of courage I finally have to share my experience. I rarely get ill and rarely need to seek medication at the pharmacy, but I usually accompany other older friends when they need help and support at the counter, so I know how this works. This first direct and personal interaction for me though left me truly shaken and I will not go or step into any Walgreens ever again. The pharmacists loudly asked me to "verify" my condition in front of other customers, which put me in a vulnerable spot. Their tone was "are you sure" that I had [fill in the blanks], and they wanted to know what I was using the medication for, even though THEY clearly knew what it was for. Only later, after sobbing into a puddle of tears, in the parking lot, speaking to my doctor on the phone that I found out that the pharmacy had called THEM just prior in order to verify my condition WHILE I was waiting to be called for my medication. The fact that they called my doctor is understandable and it made sense, but then they preceded to embarass me in front of a long line of customers in the pharmacy where my neighbors probably also go to? I asked why they were asking me this and provided a mumbo jumbo answer. Well, my truth to God answer for them is that, up to my long and living years, and up to that waking moment, I've not yet met a group of inhumane AND unintelligent human beings put together. Never have I met a group of healthcare professionals, so unprofessional, unkind and with a lack of empathy, that disregarded the sensitive information of their customers. Forget the hippocratic oath, Walgreens has the hyprocrisy oath. Never again! read more

It's sad how trashed this store is. The bathroom is completely unacceptable!!! It's filthy, the doors don't stay closed and there's a toilet brush next to the toilet covered in disgust. How do people who work there have no shame? I decided not to buy anything at that store. Yuck. read more

I'm in my 60s and on more medications than you want to know about. When it comes to pharmacies, I know of what I speak. I've never experienced worse customer service than I have repeatedly received at this Walgreens location. I've been lied to, hung up on, put on indefinite hold, left waiting in line, and in general treated like I don't matter to them. Which I clearly don't. Which is fine and why I'll be withdrawing all of my prescriptions and taking them elsewhere. This store is the biggest pimple on top of the pimple that is Walgreens in the first place. read more

I am reminding people not to utilize the Walgreens on Wilbur and S. Howell. Since changing pharmacies to another Walgreens near Scout Lake Park, I have felt secure knowing my prescriptions are being handled well. Even my physician's office is happier. I am welcomed with smiles and explanations. The employees look for coupons to save me money. The pharmacists phone me to ask if I have any questions about my new medications. I do not miss the arrogance and snarls of the pharmacists at Wilbur and Howell. My blood pressure no longer rises to dangerous levels trying to get my prescriptions filled. If I must wait for an RX to be filled, I walk around a clean and well-organized Walgreens, and actually enjoy my time. Don't stay in an abusive relationship. Change drug stores. This location is no longer open 24 hours by the way. The only 24 hour one is way on 27th and Ohio. I had to get some Benedryl and this location opens at 7AM. The parking lot needs to be repaved and new parking lines made. Some cars were parked in the opposite direction and I thought it was a parking space. Turns out it was in the middle of the aisle. You can't even make out the parking lines. The store itself is clean and Lynette is awesome! I don't live close to this one but my local Walgreens doesn't open until 8. read more

Your typical Walgreens - my experience was better than the other reviewers. As soon as I walked in, an employee asked if I needed assistance finding anything. I did - and she gave me immediate and accurate location information for a product I was looking for. Additionally, I stocked up on bottled water and V-8 juice to take back to my hotel room. Way cheaper here than at the hotel. The checkout line was a bit long after I walked up. They could have opened another register. read more

The pharmacy at the Walgreens on Wilbur and Howell is just terrible. Your prescriptions never get filled on time and the staff is very rude. Their on-line system doesn't match what they tell you and even worse, you get scolded for calling and then told you should have waited for your text notification. When I tell them I never receive any text notifications from them, they say it says here you do or they say I'll sign you up right now, but no text ever comes! This has happened no less than 10 times. It's frightening that Walgreens is allowed to operate this way. And it's demoralizing and demeaning to be and gaslighted and scolded by their staff for politely checking on refills that should have been completed days ago and/or responding to alerts in their online system that actually request that you call them. These people work in healthcare and as such, should operate with better ethics and empathy. I dread every interaction with them. read more

I come to this walgreen for medicine that I need on the fly, printed photos that need, and/or redbox. Sometimes they're running great deals, but I don't come here often enough to collect points/make the points worth it. But if I see they're running great deals, I'll stop by. What's frustrating is that not every Walgreens carries the sane products. A perfume I found in a Walgreens in NOLA, I can't find here. Super disappointed!! Staff are always friendly. read more

At any Walgreens you're gonna experience long wait times and I don't want to give them a bad rating because it is not the employees fault. They do their best to attend everyone in line. What they need is more staff. I like coming to this Walgreens. It looks much cleaner than those closer to me. The line for the cashier is way shorter than other ones too. Only commenting on passport services. Another location took an unusable photo so was in for a replacement. After 4 photos & 15 minutes of 4 staff members back and forth, i left empty handed. The issue centered around the staff not clearly understanding what is and is not acceptable in a photo. As they debated back and forth, I had the Google machine up answering every single question. I had to leave due to time constraints and a serious lack of confidence in their skills. They get 2 stars because I know they were trying to do the right thing. read more

Slow drug store that is understaffed. Not very clean, somewhat messy and in a little disarray. At the entrance the fire extinguisher holder was broken, so the fire extinguisher and its sign were just laying on the floor. Symbolic of the general state of this Walgreens. It is open late and has a convenient large parking lot, and there was a place for me to secure my bicycle. read more

This review is for the pharmacy and it's not so good! Make sure you are NOT sick and have plenty of spare time when you come to pick up prescriptions here because you will spend a lot of time waiting in line. First you will wait in line, usually 3 to 4 deep to pay for your prescriptions at the counter. There may be more than one register open, but fear not, their "new" system is guaranteed to slow you down. Because after you pay for the prescription at one of the three register at the pharmacy counter, your purchase will be passed along to another window, with ANOTHER line, this one comprised of everyone from the three lines at the register. So now you will wait 3X longer in this line for the pharmacist to go over your prescriptions. I can see the need for this is they are new, but I've been taking allergy medicine for years, it hasn't changed and I'm pretty sure I know how to ask if I have a question. Wish there were some other decent pharmacy options in my area (too bad Target is not one of them). read more

I scheduled an appt for 10am for a shingles vaccine. I received the confirmation email, did the pre-registration online and was asked (by their site) to arrive 10 min. early. I arrived 12 min early, waited in line for 10 min only to be told there was a 45 min wait for my 10am appt. I reminded them "but I have an appt for 10am". They told me there were 3-4 people in front of me and they all have appts. and "I'm only one person." I'm not faulting the staff; but if you're only one person, maybe space the appts out so that people aren't waiting 45 min. It sounds like they are at the mercy of the online system which only allows 10 min between appts. 10 min for pre-registered patients sounds reasonable to me. I'm not sure what the staff is doing that makes it take more than 10 min. I used to get my prescription filled at this specific Walgreens years ago, but the frustration of there ALWAYS being a line with 4-5 ppl in front of me no matter what time of day I went made me quickly switch to mail order. I did not wait the 45 min for my vaccine. I left. They suggested coming in the evening around 7 or 8pm but also noted they can't guarantee there won't be a line at that time either. I may try my luck at a competitor. read more

My Brother came to buy medicine because he was really sick but he was underage. I understand not allowing him to buy the medicine. So I go cause he called me cause they didn't let him buy It. I get there to buy him the medicine but didn't allow me to buy the medicine. They didn't let me because he tried to buy it before. I'm well over the age and I have parental rights over my brother. I showed them my ID got it scanned. But still didn't allow me. Ended up going to Pick N Save nearby. And to make the case worse the lady that told us we couldn't buy it had an attitude! Maybe she was racist I don't know she really treated us terrible. Acted like I was buying my brother alcohol or guns. Never coming back to this Walgreens again. I live about 2 blocks away and always come to this Walgreen. read more

I must be honest I have never been a big fan of Walgreen Pharmacy. That being said if you travel you can use their pharmacy services any where. Based on my travels that level of service being available is not such an asset. After waiting in 2 different lines for my prescription I still get a really uncomfortable reeling about how any disorganized pharmacy could possibly be accurate. The 6 months they did fill my prescriptions there were always problems. They were missing or they would fill 1/2 of two of them and not know when the rest were coming. They would run out of common medications or at the least ones that you fill ever month. I have seen sick people wait and told to wander around the store, even an emergency room is smart enough to figure out "wow they are barffing on people maybe they should get that medication." The parking lot is dangerous, the drive in and out is dangerous. Drive to CVS at best you may not be better service but this place it's almost a promise your service will suck. read more

This Walgreen's is ridiculous.....the wait times (in line) are always excessive....OMG-NEVER go there on Monday! The staff is marginally helpful, and too busy on their computers to even look at you. The parking lot is a disaster, as another rater pointed out, especially during snowfalls.....that's when you can't find a spot to park and the wait time in line is 30-45 minutes. No drive through lane. The staff always asks to put through a "we'll contact your doctor for you", but it never works, nor does the "texting back" when your refill is ready. Never works/NO contacting. Yes, this Walgreen's is a disaster.....and I've contacted the Deerfield office about this location. I'm moving my Rx's to KK and Oklahoma. read more

I have been using this pharmacy for the past two years because it is close to home. I have never waited less than 15 minutes in line, which is so frustrating. I have gone at all different hours of the day to see if timing makes a difference, and same thing. Usually there is only one person working at the pharmacy counter. read more
