When we asked a young employee for assistance locating items, she was polite and pointed us in the right general direction, although more specific guidance would have been helpful. Unfortunately, the checkout experience was frustrating. The credit card machine was not functioning properly, and after several unsuccessful attempts to complete the transaction, we ended up paying with cash just so we could be on our way. The exterior of the store also left a poor impression. The parking lot appeared unkempt, and the trash can outside was overflowing with garbage. Seeing a "No Needles" warning sticker on top of the trash receptacle only added to the uncomfortable atmosphere and raised concerns about the surrounding area. The one positive was that the Gatorade was on sale, which earned the store an extra point. However, between the maintenance issues, the payment difficulties, and the overall condition of the property, this location felt somewhat neglected and did not provide the experience I typically expect from Walgreens.

Over the course of a few days, my friend and I visited this Walgreens on North Main Ave during our lunch breaks, and every single visit was an uncomfortable, hostile nightmare caused by an employee falsely claiming to be the "owner" of the store. From the second we walked in, this employee targeted us--staring us down, checking if we were shoplifting, repeatedly asking us how much money we had, and trying to physically grab items out of our hands to put them back. When we went to check out, he openly insulted us at the register, asking, "Will you guys even have enough money?" It escalated drastically when I asked him a simple question about an e.l.f. product packaging. He lied and gave me completely false information, so I checked the box to verify if the product was actually inside. When he saw this, he stormed over, yanked the items out of our hands, and demanded I come with him. When we refused, he made it explicitly clear who he was targeting, stating he "didn't need my white friend" and that he only needed me (I am mixed/Black). He started screaming at me in the middle of the store and kicked us out. When my friend needed an item the following day, we walked in and he immediately singled me out again, telling me I had to leave. When my friend directly asked if he was discriminating against us, he claimed he was the "owner of this store" and forced us out. A quick search confirms he is NOT an owner--Walgreens is a corporate entity--and he isn't even listed as a manager. This person is abusing his authority, racially profiling customers, lying about owning the business, and creating a deeply unsafe and hostile environment. Management and corporate need to investigate this employee immediately. Save yourself the humiliation and shop anywhere else.

I recently bought some razor blades (which were the wrong blades for my razor), so went back to return them at the customer service counter... there was sign saying "Customer Service Closed" so I went to look for other blades, on way back to the front I stopped near the counter, there was an employee standing nearby so I asked her when the Customer Service counter would open, she said "I don't know", I asked her "is there not a set opening time?" She replied "it opens when someone shows up." So I went to the self-service cashier on duty and he handled it with friendliness and professionalism. There are some great employees there and some lousy employees too. I've overheard stockers and online shoppers complain about customers getting in their way. I remember when grocery stores were stocked at night, after closing. It's called a nightshift. I imagine some bean-counter ended that. And the parking lot... 3. City Mkt South: 10 or so full service cash registers, usually 2 or 3 cashiers on duty. 4. King Soopers (under same parent company (Kroger) as City Mkt); I've been to several on the Front Range recently and the moment you step inside you can tell that they are noticeably nicer and well appointed than what we have in Durango. I wish HEB or Central Market would open a store here, they are great compared to our local offerings.

I have to order from Amazon no sugar, sweet pickle relish. A lot of people need that who can't eat sugar. They're always out of something I'm looking for. It's always crowded and there may be two or three people on registers. They want you to check your own groceries, but that always turns into a problem where you have to find someone to help you. The customers seem angry and pushy, which is not the store's fault but nonetheless it's an unpleasant experience, I think in part because everyone else is going what I am, looking for things that can't be found or aren't there and you can't find help or you're standing in line somewhere. Lines are long and I can rarely find anyone to help in the aisles. They need more personnel who are better trained and if it's a problem, they need to make it a better work environment so their employees aren't so exhausted and irritable.
