A-Med Supply

A-Med Supply

After being in a coma for 20 days and intubated for 15 of those same days because of Covid, I…read moreneeded to be on oxygen for quite a while, as I recovered from my experience. The company that I ended up with was A-med. First I have to say for the most part, the people there seemed nice enough and were fairly helpful. With that said that's where it stops, personally I'm no fool and have been scammed a lot of times over the year's, so when I decided to call the parent company Rotech about a bill I received, they never answered. No matter what time of day during their so called hours of operation or what day of the business week I called, they NEVER answered, never! NO question that is the first sign with a business that something is absolutely wrong. Needless to say when I decided to call the local business about the billing issue, who up until this point had been fairly helpful, that's when the shell game started. When I returned my equipment to them I signed a document that said I owed nothing to them. At the top there was my existing balance, and at the bottom was a zero. Indicating I owed nothing! To be clear I asked the young lady helping me if the document I signed meant I owed them no money. She said yes. As well as telling me to hang on to it in case the parent company claimed I still owed money to them. Was this a hint? Was she trying to tell me something? All of this after I spoke to the office manager about 3 weeks before, asking when I could return my equipment since I hadn't used it for some time and she said I could, after the Doctor gave them a cease to use order which took a couple of weeks to happen. She also said I didn't need to pay as well, since the tank was full and the other half full. regardless I had been paying my part until the amount that was indicated on the document 178.00, and was prepared to pay that if need's be. BUT then I received another bill from Rotech claiming I owed 285.00 dollars, a bit more than what the document I signed claimed I owed. When I was finally able to contact A-Med and questioned the billing, they claimed it had to do with Medicare not paying for "my part of the bill" which was indicated at the top and which the zero supposedly said I didn't have to pay. Not 285.00 but 178.00! Either way something was rotten about the whole thing! Long story short, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY they are surely preying on elderly and older people with BS and shell games! By the way the parent company is in Florida and their bills come out of Arkansas. they have offices all over the country. Typical medical corporation preying on the little guys!

By far the worst company I have ever delt with. I've called and left several voicemails. They…read moreNEVER answer their phone and will not respond to voice mails. My Dr sent the prescription to them because she said they were the only ones to work with ChampVA. After 2 weeks of silence I drove an hour to go into the office. I was informed by the not very personable lady at the front desk that they can't bill ChampVA. So we've now wasted 2 weeks of not being able to sleep because instead of notifying me right away of an issue they sat on it and did nothing, then won't answer their phone so I can follow up. only giving 1 star because I can't leave it at zero. Nurturing Hearts Home Care - Kara and Bill (my dad)

Nurturing Hearts Home Care

As someone living several states away from my aging father and stepmother,…read more knowing that my parents have a compassionate and competent caregiver gives me tremendous reassurance. My parents found Kara a few years ago, and working with her has been a gift for our family. She is reliable, methodical, and excellent in her ability to care for people; she is also kind and empathetic, and a daily light in my parent's lives. Kara is truly on a journey with them, through good times (birthdays! anniversaries! physical accomplishments!) and more challenging ones (injuries, surgeries, illness). She not only cares for my dad but helps with yard care and home projects requiring strength and/or height, walks and plays with their dog, runs errands as needed, and gives my stepmother a break and/or chance to catch up with friends. Some additional context: my dad was extremely active through his life up until his early 80's -- traveling the world, hiking/biking/skiing in the Rocky Mountains, and leading rafting trips on the Rio Grande and Animas. Kara is a former college athlete and now adult athlete, so I feel that she has extra understanding of the challenge for formerly active people whose capabilities are now more limited. Because she is so strong and physically active, my dad feels safe going for walks and doing his exercises with her -- he is more confident with her by his side than any of the rest of us. Little things like making him a nutritious and delicious sandwich each day (tailored to his dietary needs) help him stay as healthy as possible. Kara also spent/spends considerable time understanding who my parents were in their younger years, through both conversation and looking through photo albums and travel videos (even if she's seen them before). On the flip side, Kara shares what's going on her life, which has given my dad an additional "loved one" in his daily routine. We are thrilled to see her launching Nuturing Hearts and expanding her philosophy and practice to more people in the community. I am happy to provide additional details to anyone considering her services. Thank you Kara for giving my stepmother a partner in caring for my dad, for giving me and my brother peace of mind, and for giving my dad the dignity and joy he deserves at this stage in his life.

Kara has been caring for one of my close friends the last two years. Prior to Kara being hired…read moreseveral of us were trying to figure out her care by assisting her with doctor's appointments, prescriptions and medication dispensing. At that time our friend was grieving her husband's recent death; she was unable to mentally track what was going on with her. Her memory was garbled. Her sleep and eating were irregular and poor; she was unsafe and fearful. She did not have any family living in our community. With several of us providing what help we could there was not one person coordinating her medical treatment which resulted in missed appointments, inaccurate medication dispensing and poor communication concerning medical follow up. Reluctantly and with trust issues, my friend agreed to hire Kara. Her biggest fear was loss of control and realizing she could not keep her thoughts in order. Kara's first approach was to really get to know our friend and to listen to what she wanted and needed. With unending patience, Kara kept our friend in control; she encouraged our friend that she would get better and eventually be able to provide a lot of her self-care. Kara became the person she both enjoyed and trusted most; they had fun together and our friend felt very understood and accepted. Kara is very compassionate, encouraging and safety conscious. She did move in to coordinate doctor's recommendations and prescriptions dosing which made a huge difference. After two years Kara continues to provide support for our friend who has faced new medical challenges. She honors our friends needs first and encourages her that she does need to follow medical recommendations. Kara has a delightful personality with clear boundaries. She has been consistently dependable. from Susan McGinness
