This store's customer service is steadily going down. No wonder Walgreens is closing stores. Their pharmacy is understaffed. I used to be able to pick up my monthly meds at once. Maximum 2 visits a month. Now due to their ineptitude all my meds are out of sync and I have to go to 2 different locations for same meds, multiple times monthly. You get texts that your meds are ready, but they're not. I've literally waited an extra day or two to avoid longer waits. Only to watch the cashier go over to pharmacists and they fill it visibly on the mirrors. Or they tell you to wait. The pharmacist will walk away from a line 10 people deep to service the "clinic". Progressively getting worse. I'm switching to mail order service because the staff has gotten grossly inept. read more

The pharmacy put the incorrect dosage on my 7 month old son's medicine bottle. Actually terrifying. Luckily the "typo" was for half the amount he should take vs double.. I remembered the doctor instructions this morning and knew it seemed off. They admitted that it was a typo so that was kind of them I guess. read more

Walgreens is almost always a terrible experience; that is the one thing that they seem to be able to provide consistency on. We needed passport photos and I called this location to confirm they did them and appointments weren't necessary. We were in the car as I made the call and we drove over immediately. When we got there it turns out that the person who was running the register is the same person who was going to take our photos, and luckily for us there wasn't a line of seven people waiting to check out. But the woman was having some sort of problem with the photo system; it kept rejecting one of the photos and one of her coworkers tried making some sort of small adjustments and finally got it accepted (no one could tell why it wasn't passing their system checks). After that, they for some reason needed to call the manager to print them or something and this is what really got me ticked off. The employee was struggling, ok, but she was getting the photos taken and the system was the problem here, not her. But she called Ramina, the store manager, on their walkie system at least five times and Ramina never showed up. After 15 minutes of calling the manager, trying to print one photo, calling her again, trying to figure out why it wouldn't accept the other, calling the manager, etc. I finally went to the pharmacy to see if she was in there and the pharmacist called her over the intercom. Ramina finally showed up to do whatever it was that needed doing before we could get printed copies of our passport photos. Why didn't she respond to the walkie? Well apparently that system wasn't working. WHYYYYYY would you have your employees wear it/use it if it's not working?? It wasn't just one employee who called her on their little walkie, at least two did. Unbelievable. Will never shop at this location again and I really wish this chain would fail because they buy up or put out of business all the pharmacies/general stores with good service, competent, and friendly staff, and then this is what we're left with. read more

The absolute worst pharmacy of any Walgreens. Horrible customer service always a giant line and they work a turtle speed, extremely rude and very dirty, the first counter always smells like urine. Which is a shame because when John worked there, it was such a wonderful pharmacy. There is another Walgreens in Des Plaines on Miner Street and although their customer service lacks some as well, Them on a bad day by far exceeds what Walgreens on Oakton could do on their best day. Although it may be in a slightly inconvenient spot, save yourself the headache and go to the one on Miner street instead. I can only hope this is one of Walgreens that is getting shutdown. It has got to go. The hygiene alone does it. read more

I really have always loved this Walgreens the pharmacist John is such a nice guy!!! But when you stand in line for 25 minutes and get to counter and order is not ready and you walk away and now your order is ready 2 minutes later they should call you to the front of the line and check you out!!!!!! It make you wait in line another 15 minutes behind 5 more people who want to ask questions and finish their phone calls before even giving there name!!!!!! The employees should tell them to step to the side until they finish their phone calls and they SHOULD NOT MAKE US WAIT ANOTHER 10-20 minutes!!!!!!! After we have already waited are fair time!!!!!!!!! read more

This place has no workers and no customer service experience. Expect to be in there for 20 minutes just to pay for your 1 item. And don't bring in photos to be printed because no one will help you lol read more

The parking lot of this location floods badly pretty much every time it rains. When it rains heavily it gets to the point that there are only a few parking spots in the lot unless you want to be parked in several inches of water. It's been like this for years and I'm surprised they haven't done anything substantial, if anything at all, to fix this. As for the staff they have always been helpful but the pharmacy can definitely be slow at times. Pretty standard Walgreens, I just hope the do something about the parking lot because it honestly makes it hard to shop and pick up my prescriptions there. read more

The Yelp description for two stars is "Meh, I've experienced better". Well, in the world of Walgreen's stores, that description is totally appropriate. I do want to say up front that normally such a ranking would involve the staff's customer attitude but this is NOT the case here - they're OK. What troubles me about this place is the neglect that one sees with stock and maintenance that is not common across Walgreen's. Things are haphazardly stocked or they're just out of stuff. The store doesn't seem all that clean. And what blows me away the most is their parking lot and the "lake" that regularly appears in the middle of it after rainfall. Sure the area near the Des Plaines River floods, I get that. But I can't tell you how many times I've driven by the store in the past few months and seen cars sitting in what is at least a half a foot of water. Walgreen's often owns the real estate that their stores sit on, but whether they do here or not, for gosh sakes - get the sewers in the parking lot blown out, fixed, replaced or WHATEVER needs to be done to correct this. The place is really a poor reflection of the Walgreen's brand. read more

Went in and bought a couple things tonight, as I paid I asked the cashier if I could possibly have change for a $20.00 bill while he had the register opened.. 'Sorry, I can't give you change unless you buy something.. it's store policy' ...I'm confused, did the TWO things I just buy not count for anything? WTF terrible customer service. read more

In the world of Walgreens-it's not the nicest, or cleanest. Came in for a wedding card, and actually had to take cards out of the shipping pack to view. Was able to locate one and head to the register. Found myself waiting in a line about 6 people deep- one clerk. After about 5 minutes, an older gentleman came to help. He was courteous and quick to ring me up. The layout of this Walgreens is just not appealing in any way. The refrigerator section was poorly stocked (I was looking for coconut water) and it's evident that not much care is taken when restocking (cards in multi-packs, barren shelves in the OTC medicine aisle) It could use a re-vamp, or at least, a little TLC read more

This has to be the worst Walgreens I have ever been to, and I am usually a big fan of Walgreens! This location has some of the worst staff members I have ever encountered! Pharmacy techs are rude and unhelpful, and the cashiers make it quite clear that they hate their job, at least 2 cashiers in particular. My prescriptions were transfered here after Dominicks closed, I will definitely be moving my business elsewhere! read more

I have always shopped department store for cosmetics. But after a photo was taken of me I noticed my makeup did not match my skin. So I decided to get all new makeup, but I did not want to make another costly mistake. After researching the Internet I found the best dupes for makeup and stopped at the Walgreens. I picked out makeup on my own but right before I paid, I asked if someone could help me in the cosmetic area. A women quickly appeared and I showed her my bad makeup pictured. And she immediately knew what I needed. She pick all new makeup for me. I even took a picture right there because she had fixed the uneven color. I had to ask her name: Lourdes. Then I was so impressed with her knowledge of makeup, I told her about my moms dry skin and she recommend a moisturizer. I bought one for my mother and one for me. I love it so much, I am recommending it to my sister and friends. Lourdes made a huge difference in how I look. I thanked her, but I just wanted Walgreens to know, she is a great asset to their store at 1858 E Oakton St. Des Plaines, IL 60018 read more
