I love Walgreens/Duane Reade stores and have been a loyal customer for 20+ years. I will always choose them over CVS or Rite Aid, so I was very excited when this new location finally opened in my neighborhood. It has been over a year now and I dread going into this location unless I have no other choice.
It is a bright and clean store (and never crowded), but they often go weeks without restocking common items. And the selection of items and brands that they do offer is extremely small for such a large, newly constructed store. It's often so frustrating that I walk directly across the street to Rite Aid when they don't have what I want (& although the Rite Aid store is old & messy it is always stocked to the gills. And often cheaper prices!)
What finally put me over the edge is one particular woman in the pharmacy department. She doesn't wear a name tag, but is pale, has dark hair, and a Russian or Eastern European type of accent. EVERY SINGLE TIME I have had to interact with this woman has been a nightmare!
She questions why my doctor prescribes certain medications (sometimes out loud in front of other patrons - HIPAA violation!!!) and I've had to call the doctor's office from the counter on 3 occasions to have my doctor speak with her to give me my medication because she doesn't agree with the dosage or quantity or combination of meds. I don't know if she's a licensed pharmacist or just works that counter, but either way she THINKS she's a doctor.
She always gives me a hard time and pretends she's never seen me before when I know she recognizes me (I am a very tall and distinctive looking woman). When anyone else is working, they smile, give me my prescriptions, scan my other OTC items, ring me up, and wish me well with the rest of my day. This woman makes me produce 5 forms of ID to sell me OTC allergy meds! I lost one of my prescriptions about 6 months ago (must have dropped the bag in my way home) and went back the next day to get it replaced. She told me I would have to show her a police report stating it had been stolen. It's completely out of hand!!! I went into another location and they replaced my lost medication without any hesitation.
My primary care doctor recommended that I not use this location anymore because of the trouble this woman causes.
And forget trying to find a manager to talk to in that store. It's a ghost town. I've never seen more than 3 people working in that there at the same time and though they are very nice, they can't offer any help or resolution at all.
Avoid this location if you can - especially for prescriptions! read more
