Understaffed, not the workers fault at all. They are all nice, but you wait on the phone for 8 minutes and then get disconnected. I've had to call back 3 times to get connected to someone at the pharmacy. Again, workers are great, just understaffed and you cannot get any help or information so I recommend picking a different pharmacy in Kensington. read more

There always seems to be a long wait. Even when calling in refills on phone. Today, I tried calling in my mom's refill. The system said that I was the second caller waiting. I waited for 25 minutes and the line suddenly disconnected. I called back and waited another 30 minutes and the phone disconnected again. I believe that I was hung up on purposely. They need to close their establishment, because they are unable to provide good service to their customers. read more

This Walgreens location is always busy. The pharmacists and clerks constantly have customers. I know this location has picked up the traffic from the Avenue J location that closed. I had an issue with my insurance company and Eli and Sandra were super helpful and walked me through the process to get the medication approved. Eli also troubleshooted lower cost discounts for me to help and I so appreciate that. read more

The worst pharmacy I have ever been to. Wait 30 min on hold to speak to the pharmacy, & then they hang up on you. Employees that don't know how to use their computer system. They will give you a time & date that your prescription is ready, & when you arrive at that time, they will have lost any record if it. There are at least 4-5 local mom & pop pharmacies close by that are all much better. AVOID ! read more

Quick update from my last review.... This location no longer smells like rats!! Ran in here quickly to grab some toothpaste and even though I was able to breathe nothing much has changed! This line remains 15-20 people long and they now have locked up 85% of the products in every aisle! I should of walked to CVS but I thought it's toothpaste how can they make this horrible experience...they sure did prove me wrong! As seen in the pics below everything is under lock and key. I had to wait at least 6 mins for someone to come to open the plastic case to get one box of toothpaste, its absurd!! They have to find someone with the key while you wait, how is this ok?? I finally get the toothpaste and the line is yet again 10 people long with 2 people working. My trip of toothpaste was at least 15 mins and I have now now officially learned my lesson of not going to this location. I forgot to add there was a man arguing with staff in regards to his pictures not being ready. He called the store and was informed they were ready. They could not find his pictures or order! I had a similar experience when I first moved into the neighborhood and I placed an online order for photo pick up. They took the order but did not have the machine to complete it. I found this out upon arrival. Guess who fulfilled my order.... CVS on Ditmas Ave!! All in all they have screwed me 3 times and no one should go here!! read more

This use to be a Rite Aid, and I was so happy when I found out it was turning into a Walgreens, thinking things would change. I don't understand why they don't just hire enough employees to cover the needs of the community. There is ALWAYS a line. It doesn't matter what time you go, the line is wrapped around the store. It's pretty frustrating when you're only coming in to pick up one item. Employees move as slow as snails, and management doesn't take initiative to hop on registers when there's constantly a line. They've canceled prescription orders for no reason, had delays, been unable to fill and didn't communicate the issue, etc. multiple times. This store ran out of vaccines hours before my appointment and didn't tell me. As in they ran out before they sent a reminder text and didn't tell me. People in line had traveled and taken off of work early. They were not nice about it. Did not reschedule people. And did not care. read more

This complaint is more about the way Corporate Walgreens sees the community. Whenever I go in, pretty much all the products in most of the aisles are locked behind thick plastic, and you have to press a button for assistance. It takes forever to get assistance and Walgreens should stop treating each and every customer that walks in as a potential thief and criminal. I bet they don't lock things up at the Walgreens in Park Slope. Second.. do your research.. median cost of a house here is 900K, and it's stupid to lock up shampoo. yes there is ALWAYS a line at the checkouts (even when it was rite-aid) only 1-2 people at registers, never see management EVER jump on to push the lines out. Need more co-workers! That being said I have an excellent relationship with most of the staff (working in retail for decades makes you compassionate to their plight). RE. the under lock+key articles... they had a HUGE shoplifting issue during the last few years - I saw a guy fill up 2 shoppers with deo/toothpaste/brushes headed to the housewares load up on a couple of the coffeemakers and grab 2 mops and 2 brooms for good measure on his way out the door...it was insane. Yes waiting for the keyholder to come and open up is annoying, but I get it. Have never had an issue with the pharmacy. read more

Ordered something for pickup at noon. This was the only location that had what i need. I traveled the 30 mins to the store, showing up a few mins after noon. They told me the person who handles this order isnt in until 3 PM and they couldnt do it because "they dont do it as well as him". And then left me sitting there for 15 mins because they got distracted while trying to find an answer for me. After sitting there 15 minutes they said I would just have to "come back". One star is being generous. If this wasn't the only pharmacy in the area, i would never ever step a foot in here again. I dread going here because I know no matter when I go, there will be a line. The employees are not the issue, it's the company/management. Other people are commenting on how the employees hide in the back. They are constantly short staffed and if one person doesn't go stock the shelves, the place would REALLY be a disaster and they would need to shut down the business. I am so disappointed with the Walgreens. They don't know how to use their workers. The line for checkout snakes around into the back aisle. All the while, workers are engaged in pointless stocking of items, which are already full on the shelves. They always tend to just have one cashier with the rest of the employees just walking around and doing nothing. When I brought it up with a manager, he threatened to make customers wait in the line outside until numbers decreased in the store. He was so out of touch. Every time I go in this Riteaid, I kick myself for even walking in the door. Just save yourself. You can find what you need in Newkirk Plaza No matter the time of day, there are 10-15 people in line while employees stock shelves and literally hide in the back. God save you if you go in the evening or a weekend. The front cashier will actually beg people over the loud speaker to come and help ring to no avail. It always looks like they have enough people on staff but they just don't want to ring people up. They don't even pay into the business association or trash pick up funds for Newkirk Plaza. Go to the pharmacy on 17th and Foster. Go to the one inside Newkirk Plaza. Go to the new Liberty Pharmacy across the street, if it ever opens. read more

The store was very clean and the employees were friendly and helpful. The shelves were well stocked and neatly organized. The prices are a little high since it's in New York City, but there were several sales/specials with the Rite Aid Card. They have most things you could need and are open 24 hours a day. There was a long line when it was time to check out and they only had 2 of their registers in use. read more

What is UP with this Rite Aid. I hate the fact that it's so unreliable because it's a few blocks from my house but I post this review as a warning to anyone attempting to use the pharmacy. They have issues back there, I mean I can't even tell you how many times I've had mistakes, 2 of the same thing in my bag, I got there to pick up and they mixed up my insurance so didn't fill my Rx and it was THEIR misunderstanding (thanks, I have nothing else to do but wait all day when I'm sick)...the list goes on. They have actually mixed up prescriptions because of the fact that more than one physician called different items in for my husband. I feel like they get the worst graduates from pharmacy school. The best part about the Rx department is that they will ring you up when there is a crazy line at the front (there almost always is). Second problem, the LINES. What in the world is going on in there? Any random time you go in there there is a line that stretches across the entire row of registers back to the first aisle where the fridge is. I'm talking like 25 people and somehow, the manager doesn't call up additional workers to open more registers. Yes, they got ya covered if you need your toothpaste, deoderant, soap, etc albeit more expensive than Target which isn't too far. They also have a nice selection of seasonal items and good sales. But seriously, do NOT go in there unless you have 25 minutes to wait in line for your three dollars-worth of purchases. And save yourself the hassle and take to your prescription to someplace on Cortelyou. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I've been to. It's very close to where I live, but I've stopped going there. The staff is consistently slow, and the wait times to fill a prescription are long, even when there's no other customer to be seen. Final straw: I tried to get my RX filled, and was told I'd need my doctor to call my insurance company to justify the medication. My doctor did so. We all waited for United Healthcare to call the doctor or the pharmacy and give their approval. Turned out, the pharmacist just never read the screen in the first place. All they had to do was hit 'override' and I could have had the meds right away, instead of waiting three days. Or they could have called the number below the override code, and been told the same thing. If this were a sandwich or t-shirt purchase, it would be permissible. This is medication. Oh man ... the wait time at the pharmacy is outrageous. I've had to go there twice and it's a pretty long, awful wait. I don't know why that is. That said, the customer service is fantastic; the pharmacists are pleasant and helpful. I actually needed to pick up malaria pills and my local RiteAid didn't have any, so the pharmacist got in touch with her friend at this RiteAid. I don't know if this is standard practice, but I was thrilled that I was able to pick up my pills on such short notice. read more

This Rite Aid on average is okay. It usually has the items I need to purchase. However, there is a cashier in this store you need to avoid (she's there on Mondays, wears glasses and has a mole on her face). She lacks good customer service skills. I went to Rite Aid today to purchase a 14-lb box of Arm & Hammer cat litter on sale, and she told me it wasn't available and I had to take a rain check. What I find problematic about her is the attitude with which she presents herself. When I returned to the store several hours later, two boxes of the litter mysteriously appeared on the shelves. In addition, I must mention the Lines in this store. Whenever there are more "loss prevention associates" (and they will never be confused for Rhodes or Marshall Scholars) than cashiers, you have a problem. read more
