I went int to look for a restroom in this here barn like structure and as I did a worker came out on her break, recognized I was not a local and said hi, "and if you are hungry, we have lots of things to get. She was leaving from the kitchen apparently as she was pleased with the cool weather. She was very sweet and friendly and so I did look around. As I entered it smell like fresh warm food, better than more fast food highway chains, It was set up with on area typical aisles of a convenience store, to the other side was hot shelves as in a grocery deli with sandwiches, pizza slices and myriad of other wrapped and choice of warm or cold options. There was a historical display of photos on the wall of the Millers Falls area. There was a "toy and stuffed animal " display for those traveling with children, there was a wall of counter space with seating if you wanted to eat in rather than your car. The place was immaculate, a gentleman constantly keeping the floor and counters clean for the next customer. The checkers were quick and friendly. They were located near the kitchen and it did smell delicious. Our bacon, egg, cheese on a biscuit, as nice and fresh as homemade and no wait, just self serve off the hot bar. My husband bought some items from the convenience area and we read through the history posters and headed out, car full of gas and us with a warm sandwich to recharges. And absolutely the nicest people you would ever want to meet on a trip with such a stop.

My wife and I enjoyed a day road trip from central MA through some back country of west central MA…read moreand ended up in Winchester NH. We have seen the television ads for Cha's and stopped for a much needed break after nearly 5 hours behind the wheel. What surprised me when I walked in was the size of the place. On the north side of the store are all the alcohol coolers, the south hade grocery items, their food service counter and dining area, and restrooms. The cashier counter is nearly in the middle. Had I just ran for a tasty beverage, the rating be higher, but... I used the restroom. Two things right off the bat, there are only two unisex bathrooms. One was occupied so used the unoccupied one closest the south entrance. I don't know when it was last checked or cleaned by the staff, but it was filthy. There is a toilet and nearby a low urinal. There was piss all over the floor by the urinal and it ran on the floor to the front of the toilet. There was toilet paper all over the floor like someone had cleaned up the floor in order to use the toilet. Next while I do appreciate the use of hands free sinks and soap dispenser, you have to keep the soap dispenser loaded with soap. Also the only way to try the hands was blower, paper towels not an option. Second issue with the visit- the food. Their advertising touts their pressure fried chicken. The hot chicken sitting in the food service area looked dehydrated and totally unappealing. I grabbed one of their chicken salad with cranberry wraps and a bottle of the new Sprite+Tea. The we were on our way back to MA. Within 30 minutes of eating that wrap, it came back up and not in a good way. By the time we got home an hour later, I was in some serious discomfort. While they have great TV marketing, the store falls short on delivering as far food quality and bathroom cleanliness. Too bad.

Customer service at the outset was very good. I happened to go on a busy Saturday and, while the…read moredelightful person who helped me was multitasking with other customers, I never felt rushed or ignored. I was in from out of town, and was told that Dexter's would ship my glasses and shades for a mere $10. I was very happy with that arrangement. About a week later I received a call from their technician letting me know that my shades came in not-as-ordered and that there would be a delay of over a week. I let the technician know that I wouldn't be upset as long as I could get a discount for pain and suffering. He said he would look into it. A day or two later I got a voice mail and a couple of text messages letting me know that my glasses were ready, and could I please pick them up. I immediately called to make sure they were still planning to ship my glasses. They said they were. When I asked the person to verify my mailing address, she recited a totally incorrect address. Since I'm a firm believer that lots of little mistakes can entail a much larger one, I asked to speak with a manager (Jon) to voice my concerns over this handful of mistakes. He patiently listened to my hysterical yammering, them told me he would make sure everything went smoothly from then on. Jon handled everything personally, I got my very generous discount, and so far I'm super happy. I love my glasses, which were speedily and safely shipped, and now I await the shades. I would definitely return. Thank you, Jon & co!

I could really use some good luck today…read more First, they requested a referral from my PCP without even asking me. I have vision insurance, and I specifically told them I wanted that used. Instead, they billed my health insurance anyway. Second, they dilated my eyes again, even though they had done it just a few months earlier. It didn't seem necessary, and it felt like another way to bill my health insurance instead of my vision plan. Then, when it came time to fit my progressive lenses, the machine they normally use wasn't working. Instead of taking proper measurements, the employee just estimated everything by sight. I usually wait about four weeks for my glasses, but these came in after only one week, which immediately made me wonder if something was wrong. As soon as I put them on, I knew they weren't right. I tried wearing them for two days, hoping my eyes just needed time to adjust, but they don't. My vision is cloudy, and the glare and reflections are so bad you can barely see my eyes through the lenses. I have an appointment today so they can "see what they can do." I'm really stressed and hoping they make this right. Wish me luck!
