Update: still pretty much sucks. No one at the pharmacy has ever been able to explain why I have to call them almost every time re: almost every prescription. I mean, what is this whole system *for* if not for convenience, etc? Surely there must be a toggle somewhere that could be flipped so I wouldn't have to call every time to ... what? confirm that I'm still me? have the same DNA? The voicemail system has been changed, but not improved in any way. You still can't simply say "speak to the pharmacy" ... you have to go through several steps with the annoying voice. Just doing its job to remind the customer that, no, we'd really rather not deal with you at all, so -- please talk to the robot. read more

one star. Pharmacy service has gone from bad to worse due to new worse robot and obtuse staff. The robot said my rx would be ready today after 11 a.m. When I got there this bitchy clerk said the order was invalid as my doctor was no longer there. As the doctor is a resident, he is under contract till 7/25, so she or some other jerk must've screwed up. The new robot is so awful (a lot of "i didnt get that" or "let's try this") that it drives more patients to a live person, but as the pharm is understaffed you can't get through. You're on hold five, ten minutes then the phone rings twenty-six times then you're put back on hold./ I went bullshit in that store, threatened to sue, and that scared the bitchy clerk into processing the rx. But no more, I'm gonna switch to CVS. Less convenient locale, and I've heard bad things about them, but it's worth a shot. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. Pharmacist gave my daughter the wrong vaccine. She was there for the flu and they gave her the Covid vaccine. They called us as we were driving home to tell us to come back for the flu vaccine. Ha! As if we would even trust them again. Cannot believe out of all the locations that are closing, this dump remains open. read more

Immeasurably slow. You walk in to one single cashier and a line down to the coolers. You think maybe by the time you grab your stuff the line will ease up. You thought wrong, the line has doubled in length and no new register has opened. You hope the line will move quickly, and maybe thirty minutes is quick to some. By the time you get to the register itself you are a changed person, a cold person. The husk behind the counter greets you with a soulless gaze and you return in kind. By the time you leave the building you wonder if you stepped out of a layer of inferno that Dante had failed to see for himself. read more

Walgreens has to be one of the worst companies. Every time I place an online order, I receive a message that at least one (usually more) items are out of stock. Now this particular Walgreens-literally took 6 telephone calls and half an hour for my online order to be cancelled. Cancelled! This should be easy!!! First guy said it couldn't be cancelled, second said he did and it didn't cancel, third woman finally did it. You'll be put in constant phone tree line and phone will just ring through. Save yourself time and hassle-avoid this Walgreens, you don't need this kind of frustration in your life. read more

I really hate giving a 1-star review, but it is what it is. I was here the other day to pick up a FedEx package that needed my signature. FedEx has a partnership with Walgreens where you have the option to reroute your packages to a specific Walgreen location and they will hold them for you for 5 days. In all of the Walgreens I've gone to, the packages were held in the Photo Department. I went to the Photo Dept and there was no one working there. I saw a guy collecting carts and baskets near the front of the store, and inquired if someone can help me in the Photo Dept. This man barked back. Barked, "DID YOU RING THE BELL?!!!!!" Omg....seriously? he did not just bark at me, but I kept my cool and I replied, "I'm sorry? What bell?" This total jerk went behind the island register while he continued to bark, "THE BELL ON THE COUNTER!!!" Okay I was mortified. So I went back to the Photo Dept, saw the bell, and rang it. And if that wasn't bad enough, once you ring that bell, a PA announcement plays out every 30 seconds until an employee helps you. This loud announcement "AN ASSOCIATE IS NEEDED IN THE PHOTO DEPARTMENT" came over the PA at least a dozen times. Once the store was practically empty, and there was no one else in line for the island registers, this young associate (not the jerk) came around to finally help me. That interaction took 1 minute. As I was leaving, the jerk was back on the floor. This time laughing with a customer. Well apparently after humiliating me, his mood changed for the better. Glad I did something for him. read more

My partner just had a really distressing experience at this Walgreens. Shortly after having a prescription for Paxlovid sent over to Walgreens, he a call from the pharmacy saying his insurance would not cover any of the cost, and that he would need to either ask for a discount through Pfizer's website or pay the full cost himself. Fortunately, he knew his insurance would cover it, and called his own insurance company, who confirmed it. When he went to pick up the prescription--which he had been told had been filled--the pharmacist whom he had spoken with on the phone reiterated that it was not covered. Luckily, he had handed his insurance card to the pharmacy technician as soon as he arrived, and she was able to look up his information and confirm that his copay was $0. Bottom line: Walgreens will push you to go through Pfizer rather than using the insurance you've already paid for--if they say something isn't covered, call your insurance company to get the truth. read more

OK, OK, I know my first review was pretty vitriolic ... but I was pissed off. I think this store has REALLY improved since I wrote what I did. I don't get prescriptions filled here often, but the times I have done so have been professional and pleasant. Today this store really saved my bacon. My pain bacon, anyway. I broke two ribs and punctured a lung a week ago. My doctor prescribed pain meds and -- I don't know why -- the fact that he alluded at all to the BRAND NAME on the scrip caused two pharmacies to say "we don't have this" and send me packing. Walgreens? they said "no, we have to give you the generic." I don't know whether that's true, but I now have the med in my veins and the pain (exacerbated by walking over a chunk of Cambridge, MA) is ebbing. Thanks, folks. Keep up the good work. read more

I have to admit, I've never had a good experience at a Walgreens, why do i keep hoping that will change? I went in to this Walgreen's Location to pick up a couple of items. One can of dog food, one can of cat food, a three pack of gum. I shopped a bit to make sure i got a sale item. Waited in line behind 2 people, one cashier (this is very common in any Walgreens I've visited in the past) Finally got up to the register, items are totaled. What? Where's the sale price? OH, Cashier says, oh, yeah, do you have your Walgreen's card? Me.. no i don't , can i use the store card? Cashier, no you can't. A minute of silence, me, um, okay then, see, you lata! Unless I'm desperate I will Never again step foot in a Walgreens. I can walk to a Walgreen's in 2 minutes, but will go out of my way to give CVS my biz, even if it took 1/2 hr more. read more

You're right - I DON'T have anything better to be doing, or anywhere to be, not at 9:30 AM, with this giant gash in my hand in need of liquid bandage; and the last 62 bus for an hour whizzing by outside; and a line back down aisle 4 - so why don't you continue to stare off wistfully in a haze of senility, pining for your grandchildren who are never going to come visit you, and puzzling over just what you did with your dentures this morning (hint: check the bowl of slowly ossifying oatmeal on your bedside table). Wretched, musty, disorganized and just sad, just like the majority of its staff, and the majority of its clientele. Put it out to pasture, move everyone and everything a smidge down the left on Mass Ave, and let's open something shiny and new and CVS-y in its placed, fully stocked with surly teenage girl cashiers, who will provide similarly terrible customer service, but with a much more agreeable level of churlish liveliness. Rude, under staffed and not helpful at all. I went in looking for two beauty items. I had to find an employee that was less than eager to help me. I found 1 item, and wanted to know if they had more. He scanned it and said there were 29 of them, and proceeded to tell me "if you can't find it, then I do know" I also knew a like of polishes were discounted, but not marked. I asked him to scan it with his price gun. He didn't, and then grabbed another associate. She did not even say hello, she said "what is it" She also did not scan the item, and just told me tough luck. Glad to see that they have given up on customer service, and I've given up on Walgreens. This update comes after a visit I made out of necessity, over a year after my last visit and review. After a minor surgery I asked for a ride to this store to fill my prescription since I didn't want to put my friend out too much. Surprise of surprises, this store is transformed since my last visit! None of the staff I got to know and put up with previously appears to still be there. I was offered assistance on the sales floor (a first), and the pharmacy techs were both helpful and friendly. The store still isn't spotless, but it's not so bad. Oh, did I mention the helpful staff? The only reason this review isn't a four-star review is that if you don't have their rewards card, they still won't honor sales prices (like the CVS down the road still will). However, because the people were so great this time, I got the card. No longer will I avoid this store. It still pales in terms of selection compared to the bigger CVS down the road, but now that the staff isn't hateful I'm happy to have it nearby again! read more

I moved to Arlington Heights 2yrs ago and moved my prescriptions to Walgreens (store #3112). Primarily because they would deliver to my disabled apartment building! They delivered 3 times a week until 4 months ago. Julie, the pharmacy manager, told me that due to budget cuts, now she could only deliver on Wednesday's. This is very difficult because if your prescription is ready for refill on a Thursday, you can not get it for 7 days. I am happy with the pharmacy. I do not want to change my pharmacy but 2 other pharmacies In town will deliver. read more

Did not honor marked sale prices. I went there to pick up several items that are not available in regular supermarkets. I was glad some of the items were marked 20%off. However at the register they would not honor the sale price unless I applied for their rewards card. No thanks. Will shop elsewhere whenever possible. This is a common complaint for Walgreen's and this store. They are losing business to CVS. read more

There are 2 Walgreens in my town of Arlington. I prefer to go to the other one because the store is larger & the parking is much better. I am not crazy about the pharmacists in either store. Not that I've dealt with every one of them. However, the ones I had questions for either over the phone or in person have not been too friendly or helpful. Last weekend I had to have some photos developed from the Kiosk. I was pleasantly surprised that the photos came out very well. Plus, they also offered "matte" finish which I much prefer over a glossy finish. Also, as far as the cosmetics dept, the employees who work @ this Walgrees seem a bit anxious. I am not sure about other depts. However, this cosmetics dept charges up to .30 cents more than the other Walgreens in the same town!! I've noticed Walgreens prices can be up to $2 to $3 higher than the suggested retail prices. For convenience I either shop @ one of these Walgreens or CVS in my town. read more

I have disagree with most of the reviews of this Walgreens. Not only do they always try and open another register, any question I've ever asked gets tracked down and the product found. They've even found water in the bank for our fishtank that was not even out on sale. The pharmacy staff is solid - but could use some manner training when it comes to people who are a bit hard of hearing, but that being said - they never humiliate as I've seen at other pharmacies. read more

The people are pretty nice here but the parking lot is small and they share a parking lot with trader joes so it can get pretty packed on certain parts of the day . The store it self is pretty well kept and the management staff are nice and as a Walgreen's the selection is pretty much the same except that this Walgreen's has fresh fruit and sandwiches which are actually fresh and pretty tasty . read more

Unfortunately, overall service and personnel attitude is mediocre. The people at the photo area aren't knowledgeable or resourceful and in general rarely do people smile. Everyone acts very mechanical in just doing their work. They will still have my business because it is so close to home. I like Walgreens the store, because I like the apps, and bonuses. But I really have no idea why there are some people who are employed at the Arlington Heights location , of whom I would rather not have them check me out at the register. If I were in high school, and I saw them, I still wouldn't have to have nothing to do with them. So, in real life, it isn't any different. There are people who are great, in this world, and who are able to change lives for the better. It is because they admire you, or they appreciate you, from your character, or your work. Just from your contact with them , they know you and they appreciate you. The problem here, is that some people are so insecure about their life, or themselves, that they literally will become like juvenile offenders in their workplace. I feel that I would have every right to contact the Regional Manager of Walgreens, in order to inform them of these types of displays. In addition to the Local Police. As they Should not be employed, and Should be immediately fired. Whether it be how they treat you, what they say about you, in front of your face or behind your back. This all makes a difference in our everyday lives. We all are working . We all have dreams in this world. We have dreams, goals and hopefully we are able to be appreciated, for who we are, and not criticized, ridiculed, or made fun of, or to be mean . Whether or not you are an" employee" , justice for all is a civilian code for being decent . It has NOTHING to do with "Being Hired"; or "working". I would hope that THESE INDIVIDUALS have the ability to be decent to people, because trying to TELL US THAT THEY ARE BETTER BECAUSE "THEY HAVE JOBS" isnt cutting it . Being part of a town or community , being accepted, or liked is pretty much a great thing. I have that, and I am grateful for it. If they just need a job, and yet still want to be liked or accepted , then they are going to have to earn that kind of trust. Maslow's hierarchy of needs are basic human needs. Including acceptance. If you can understand this, you are a human being with common sense and intelligence. In that we are all a part of the human race, then why wouldnt you have that part of you, in your heart, to want to help others, to be inclusive, not non-inclusive, and make them feel important, liked, and accepted, not make them feel like a social reject ? This is the problem with The workers at this store. There seems to be an underlying cynicism. A deeply disturbing motivation, or wish, to actually want you, the customer, your "fan", to fail. I have recently switched to Walgreens from CVS because my insurance coverage gives me better pricing at Walgreens. I was a bit apprehensive switching to Walgreens in Arlington Heights, but I have been very pleasantly surprised by how nice folks are, the level of service, and ease with which I have been able to get my medications refilled. One reason for the ease in picking up my medications is that their smartphone app and website are quite sophisticated. They let you set up automatic refills, and send you alerts when the medications are ready to be picked up. Walgreens also has ApplePay, which is nice. Communication using their advanced technology makes the process seamless. It is very much worth downloading their Walgreen's phone app plus setting up an account online with your computer. I also use their photo service. Their printer tends to print too dark, so make sure what you send them is lightened. With easily available coupons, the price is very reasonable and is ready in an hour. read more
