What a freaking cool place…read more Pro tip: the abandoned buildings are stupid easy to find, don't be like me and wander for a good hour/hour and a half wondering where they are. As you may be aware of, the preserve is home to the Holocaust museum for the county (which I plan on visiting sometime soon). If you find parking on the left side of the building (the side with the butterfly garden) you will find the abandoned building on the right side of the museum, as if you venture down to the water. There's a few buildings to see and the history behind them is pretty cool. Next time I will have to bring my Canon to take some nicer shots. Wear good gripping shoes as it can be muddy and you'll slip and side a bit. There are signs for no dogs but plenty of people brought their Fido's and Fifi's.

We really enjoyed it. We started by the mansion. It's suppose to be a museum but it' is closed due to COVID. There is a garden which is very beautiful and the placards around the garden tells you about why the garden is there. It is dedicated to the children of Holocaust. There is lots of woods with many different paths to walk. They set it up nicely with small bridges over a stream with rocks. The path we took led us to the ocean. There is a beach in one side and the LI sound on the other. We walked for almost an hour and it was very enjoyable. We didn't get to see the abandoned buildings with graffiti on them because of the timing . However we will be coming back possibly earlier to be able to see more. Definitely worth the trip. There is free parking.

The quarter amount of sellers who stuck it out after the wind died down had some interesting items for sale. A copper enamel pin, a photo of the beach, a tray, a pottery vase , some booths fog children's items along with food trucks and the like. I missed The Mystic Band- ( which I find worth following) NOTE: GPS takes you to wrong side of park go doe main street and mk left at Carvel Into area to park.

This is a lovely spot to hang out with friends and family of all ages. Lots of places to…read moresit--benches, a gazebo, and of course right by the water. There are a lot of recreational areas, including a nice kid playground. Keep in mind that this is the bay, not 'the beach.' You can swim in the water and lay on the sand, but it's rocky (this is the north shore, after all). Some ocean-going purists may not like it, but it's fine by me! I also love that this is so close to the main drag in Oyster Bay. It's super convenient to pick up some food or drinks if you didn't pack your own.

The duck pond had litter in it, and what little pavement there was needed repair. It took all of five mins. to walk the entire length of the park. I did see some geese and ducks and the pond was somewhat pretty, but all in all it was a waste of the 30 mins. it took me to get there. I thought the g.p.s. brought me to the wrong location, but it turned out that I had to park at the municipal lot across the street from the park and dodge cars to get across the road. The saving grace is that Port Washington is a lovely town and the parking lot for BPP is on the shoreline so you can get some beautiful pictures in the area. Bottom line -- If you're in the area, take 10 mins. to see BPP but don't make it your primary destination.

Then asking her if she was SURE considering he is a service dog, she said "well where is his tag showing service dog" so I said "it's right on his vest that he's wearing... but that's not required to be there just so you know" then she proceeded to say "well you can get that anywhere, where are his papers" and I said "WE DO NOT NEED PAPERS HE IS A SERVICE DOG". This whole interaction was extremely disgusting for her behavior. The fact that I was treated as if I was lying and then asked for papers which is illegal and NOT required to have as of New York State was crazy. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

I say that because it 5pm on a gorgeous 80 degree Saturday and there were only a handful of people there! The ones that were there however were definitely taking advantage of all the awesomeness it has it offer. There is a nice little dog park, pier areas for fishing, basketball courts, fields, and even pickle and tennis. I really liked the tennis courts, especially how empty they were! They were so empty in fact that there were two friends using them as a roller rink! I think I'll come back here soon with a bunch of friends and spend the afternoon playing pickleball, fishing and bbqing!

Filled with lotus plants and surrounded by thicket at the north end, the pretty pond has a wooden bridge that was constructed so you can walk out over one side of it. It's a tranquil spot to birdwatch. We spotted 6 black ducks, an as yet to be unidentified sparrow and many swallows as they skim the surface if the pond for insects. I could pass the hours daydreaming by this pond if I had the time. There are a few benches by the pond so you can even bring your food from the nearby Bigelow's Seafood if they are busy (uncover the takeout unless you yearn for limp fried food). A little gem offering mighty respite.
