The park has an inspiring story too; it used to be a dirty, concrete river channel but was turned into a lively green space. It even won awards like the American Planning Association's "Great Places in America." It has a modern carousel pavilion that's great for families, along with a sparkling fountain and an ice skating rink. There's lots of benches scattered along the path by trees. You can hear the water flowing over rocks or enjoy community events such as outdoor movies, fitness classes, or summer concerts. Whether you're seeking calm by the river or the energy of a weekend event, the park offers a little escape right in the heart of Stamford.

These locations are on the state line of New York and Connecticut. My Dad would take me fishing at Greenwich Point. We had huge family picnics in the area with grills and benches. Why three stars ? I've been to many beaches and this one is just average. Compared to places like Fire Island & Robert Moses State Park there's no competition. Beautiful big rolling waves, infinite views, the wildlife, flowers and clean ocean breeze off the Atlantic Ocean versus the rocky rough sand and wimpy wavelets of the Long Island Sound. It's a nice place for picnics but the last time I was there they kicked people out right before sunset so I couldn't even enjoy the view.

There really aren't any facilities here other than hiking, but the hiking is quite pretty with a lot of mature trees, and lots of nice color during the fall. I arrived at 11ish, paid $22 (non-Connecticut residents have to pay) and found parking immediately. Around 12:30 the parking lots were at capacity and closed. I love how there's so much to do at the park. You can grill, go to the beach, go for a walk and even ride your bike. It's a great time. The beach is small and full of rocks and pebbles. The water was freezing even in the hot weather. The walk towards the water is even worse. There's rocks everywhere you step and can be extremely painful. My sister and I both cut our feet trying to get in and out of the water so I HIGHLY recommend getting some water shoes! My favorite parking lot is the west side only because there's a bathhouse where you can change, use the bathroom and take a shower. Highly recommend to come here for a fun beach day or picnic or grilling. Love love this place!

Nice touch: the benches are named in memory of people's pets. Very nice park.
