Kosciuszko Park is at the southern tip of my neighborhood, the Harbor Point part of Stamford. It's a short bike ride or moderate walk from my place. It's a pretty decent park, but there are things about it that could make it really outstanding. The park is named for Tadeusz Kościuszko, a Polish-Lithuanian engineer and Revolutionary War hero, and there's a memorial to him at the entrance of the park. There are baseball fields (by permit use only, which is kinda lame) a large picnic shelter (also permit only,) a really nice sized playground (as far as I know, you don't need a permit for this,) and then a short trail around the spit, which has numerous fishing spots. The parking lot is what I would call rugged, gravel and never paved. It would look at lot better if it were paved and striped. The park is overall nice, and a great place to enjoy views of Long Island Sound and do some birdwatching as well. Overall a decent little park in Stamford.

Wonderful little park with a nice view of the sound, walking trail and playground. The open air pavilion was a perfect picnic spot.

There is something incredibly grounding about catching the park early in the morning, especially when there's a blanket of fog hovering right over the Duck Pond. We use this time to soak in the serenity and wonder of nature, establishing peace with ourselves before we have to give the rest of our day to others. As the oldest coastal public park in Greenwich (Robert Moffat Bruce donated the 100-acre estate back in 1908), it's just a beautiful, historic piece of land. It is always incredibly clean and impeccably well-maintained. The landscape transitions seamlessly from open wooded areas to tranquil ponds with benches and scenic salt marshes. If you are into photography, this place is an absolute goldmine for flowers and wildlife. It's a diverse sanctuary for both resident and migratory birds. Depending on the season, I've been able to photograph everything from Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Mute Swans, and Double-crested Cormorants to Raptors like Red-tailed Hawks, Ospreys, and even wintering Bald Eagles. The songbirds (like Carolina Wrens and Tufted Titmice) and winter visitors like Buffleheads and Wood Ducks make it a birdwatcher's paradise. Beyond the wildlife and walking/jogging paths, the park has a ton of amenities--a great children's playground, gazebos, picnic areas, and scattered public art and sculptures. For sports, they have baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, and even a lawn bowling and croquet court. Public restrooms are also available and kept clean. Whether you're looking for a vigorous morning jog, a spot to bring the family, or just a quiet place to sit on a bench and watch the ospreys dive, Bruce Park is a local gem. Highly recommend an early morning visit!

The large sundial sculpture is an interesting attraction. There is a little diagram nearby explaining how the sundial works. There are also a few sculptures there as well. Very safe with lots of friendly park-goers. Public welcome...no town/county/state restrictions to my knowledge.

The sculptures are unique and eye catching. The printed map doesn't have much detail about the art beyond the name of each piece and the sculptor. There are no placards with information either, so it's not very educational. Some of the trees and plants are labeled, so you get a bit of a botanical gardens experience as well.
