Was looking for an outdoorsy place on my phone map mid-September and found Clark Botanical Garden. Free. Parking lot available, with accessible spots. Beautiful mix of plants and flowers flanking the entryway. Not that big of a garden but still had different areas to see - ponds and marsh areas, rose garden, lots of trees, small bridges etc. along walking paths - some paved, but a lot were pebbly, grassy or had steps so may be limited for those using a walker or wheelchair. Love this spot. What a beautiful hidden gem. The space is small, but it's a nice place to take a stroll or sit for a while. Even on the prettiest day, I've never had an issue with parking. I wouldn't advise a stroller if you can help it. There are paths good for strollers, but some of the prettiest areas are on gravel and harder for a stroller, even heavy-duty strollers. There are lots of nice spots to sit, a pond, a small maze, and a small rose garden. This space is particularly pretty right now with the leaves falling. There's a small store and bathrooms, as well. And it's free, my friends. You won't regret checking it out! read more

Clark Garden is one of our favorite spots for a nice daytime stroll! We went for a walk over the weekend and were happy to find so many beautiful tulips and other flowers in bloom. There was also one cherry blossom tree still in full bloom! The parking lot up front makes for a convenient trip too. read more

Discovered this gem of a garden 2 years ago during late spring. It's a beautiful place to stroll around and take in nature. Bonus is that it's free. We visited today and saw some beautiful camellias, magnolias, and cherry blossoms. Can't wait until a little later when more flowers are in bloom and the trees more filled in. They're still fixing up the area I'm assuming as some of the small bridges had cones blocking. Would not recommend coming here with a stroller at all - heavy duty or not. It was difficult to push on the gravel especially going uphill. Most of the beautiful flowers were off the path anyway. Dogs not allowed here. read more

Nice spot for an afternoon stroll. The gardens were nice, ponds calming, bunnies aplenty, and it wasn't too crowded either! It could benefit from better directional signing, but it was definitely a hidden gem that was a great way to spend a nice spring afternoon. read more

It was a perfect little spot for him on the last cool day we had around here plus free is always good. Came here in mid-Nov, kind of too late for foliage. Nonetheless, it is still very pleasant to get close to nature in a quiet Sat afternoon. With all the leaves covering paths, we can't tell where is where, so we just wonder around. Saw two ponds with some ducks playing in it, bee hives area, bridge, gazebo.... A small but rich display of indigenous flowers, shrubs and trees. Lots of turtles, bull frogs and birds. You will even see the honey bee hives in the far north east corner of the park. I think they made such great landscaping choices in this gem of a Botanical garden. I especially enjoyed the man made streams and water falls surrounded by large rock. Kids will love playing here and learning about their natural surroundings. read more

Probably the best thing to do around here. Very quiet and usually only the locals come here. I come here after work for a mental break.

When I discovered these gardens I was so happy, as I didn't know a hidden treasure was so close to me. I discovered it when I was looking for a place to do my open air art. This is a great escape for anyone who appreciates nature and wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. It is well maintained but I hope they've brought back the water that makes up the small waterfall and creeks. Someone there told me they were in the process of getting the water pump fixed. read more

I suggested to my hubby to stop by at this county garden before heading to our planned polo match spectating as it wouldn't start anyway till 3 PM. Although it's quite a distance from the garden to the polo park, the botanical park was just few minutes drive from where we live and on the way going to the polo field. It was a good call. We were not disappointed. The botanical garden is located in Town of Hempstead which is at Nassau county. It doesn't matter if we are a Nassau or Queens residents, the parking and admission are free of charge. A donation box is located in the park's information board. We did notice it when we walked in as our minds were set to what this garden could offer. But after the tour , we looked for it as we were eagerly wanting to give a donation for a very pleasurable visit. An hour of leisure stroll in this "small but has all you want in a garden" put us in such great escape. I found the place so serene and peaceful while doing the walk. No need of a map if you visit as long as you started from left and take a walk around the trail.... just follow the path and will lead you back to the entrance. Along the way, as we started the trail, we saw flowering shrubs, vegetable garden, beautiful trees, amazing bushes, man-made lake, dedicated flowers group of its kind in corners and then after passing the shaded area of these tall and proper trees, an amazing bridge over this man-made pond was in sight. Man-made water stream, gazebo, rocks garden and mini water falls made up this particular spot to be a special place to be. Lots of benches are placed to various parts of the park that visitors could sit down, enjoy their time and feel the moment. In the middle part of the park are the gift shop , the restrooms , picnic tables and garden/bistro tables for public use. And what a way to end the trail but with a rose garden and the tall and majestic trees beneath it. Check this place out- its worth your time. read more

This place is great! We love it! The garden is beautiful! It has flowers, trees, bridges, ponds, & even maze! Great place just to relax. enjoying a beautiful sunny day. The garden is not big but not that small either. Great place to take a walk. The first flower that you will most likely notice after entering the garden from the parking lot is the peonies. They're so beautiful! Admission & parking are free. There is a donation box near the entrance. We were there on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon & we didn't have any problem looking for a parking space. This place can be hard to find if you are not familiar with the area. If you are coming from the L.I.E or the Northern Parkway, you will end up on Willis Ave. Just keep driving straight on Willis Ave & when you see a shopping center on your left side, it's time for you to make a left at the intersection. There is a sign for Clark Botanic Garden on Willis Ave but it's small, very easy to missed. Definitely one of Long Island's jewel! This place is definitely worth visiting. We know now it closes at 4pm. Today me and my friend were almost by the gate at 3:56. There is a rudest employee standing in front of the gate and yelled to us Get out Get out Get out！！！Me and my friends were shocked because this lady she saw we were catching our running-around toddlers and trying to get them to walk out of the gate. She kept saying rude words to us and our two kids and blame we are still here which causing her cannot leave at 4pm. Even though I said to her watch the language, we didn't mean to leave late it is just we have kids to deal with, she still pointed to us and yelled. After all this situation ended ,we got on the car and took the phone out: it was 3:58. I guess after all we have swollen her rudeness but we didn't make her to leave late. Understanding is the key. We were not trying to delay and the fact is we didn't! We left before 4pm accordingly. I really wanted to say I enjoyed today hang out with my friend in Clark but obviously I can't and my friend either. And will never. read more

Free garden but I'd go even if they charged. No dogs allowed which makes me sad. I really love sitting in their gazebo and wandering around aimlessly. They have a rose garden which has some beautiful roses! Never saw some thay were different shades of pink and yellow!! Will definitely come back! read more

This is a very small gardens (compared to Westbury Gardens and Mansion) but its worth checking out. You wont spend alot of time there but its good for a nice stroll. There is a decent sized parking lot, no fee for parking or entering the gardens to walk around. Theres definitely a ton of flowers that smell really nice and theres a lot of walk ways to roam the grounds. Its cool for photo opportunities, and even with our iPhones my boyfriend and I were able to take some really pretty pictures. Theres alot of park benches where you can take breaks and relax but I dont remember seeing any type of picnic area in the gardens themselves- you can probably make a decent makeshift picnic area in the parking lot with a blanket and some chairs. read more

Quite small but still well maintained botanical garden in Albertson. It's nice to come for an hour to walk around the trail and enjoy the flowers and trees. There's a small pond with a nice man made stream flowing into it as well. Not exactly a quiet place to relax seeing as the Albertson train station is right next door to it. Clark Botanic Garden is a very lovely place located in the pristine neighborhood of Albertson. You will know it's conveniently located near the LIRR as soon as you arrive because you are going to hear the train bells go off every fifteen minutes or so. Admission and parking are both free but there is a donation box near the entrance. They are also looking for members and volunteers. If you would like to join the cause head over to their website for more info. You can print a map of the Garden on their website but it won't be necesarry. If you just follow the trail on the left side all the way around without looping through much you will end up at the entrance approaching from the opposite side that you entered from after you are through. All parts of the park are publicly accessible except the greenhouse, garage, and workers house. You can go into the main house, and the shop. There are a few picnic tables near the main house on the left side near the bathroom entrance. There are also benches in various parts of the park if you are looking to lounge and enjoy your lunch there. I went at around 1pm during the week and there weren't many people there. The visitors and employees I encountered were quite friendly. The first flowers to catch my eye were the gorgeous peonies on the left hand side as you enter from the parking lot. I wrapped around the daffodil encircled pond and then ventured north past the Japanese maples and cacti. There is a bit of shade when walking through the trees but after you pass the bridge at the next pond the area opens up quite a bit and is more on the sunny side. Behind the main house theres a trail of rocks with a little flowing stream. There's a rose garden that is not yet in bloom but they are preparing the area to be featured. I turned on the pedometer on my phone as I took the stroll and at the end it said I walked about a mile. The place is small but cute. I took a bunch of photo's. Check them out. read more

This is a tiny, but beautiful and well-maintained garden. It is easily overlooked, so much so that I had no idea it was even there. Apart from the occasional train noises from the nearby station at Albertson, you can easily forget that you're right off the parkway in the middle of Long Island. There is a little cafe with tables, plenty of benches, paths and small ponds. The only slight negative is that because it is so small, if there are other noisy guests like kids running around, you really can't get away from them and that can disturb your tranquility. Please keep in mind the peace and comfort of other visitors when you're exploring the nooks and crannies of this little oasis. read more

A miniature jewel. Don't miss it! I had no idea this place existed, and so it was a gift to be taken here. Imagine that you love the New York Botanical Garden but are pressed for time. This park has a little of all the features of the big one -- bamboo, ponds, bridges, herb garden, maze and on and on, but in exquisite small proportions. I was lucky to go when it was quiet and almost empty. I recommend going during a week day for that reason. read more
