I've never had the opportunity to rave about healthcare, but Walter Tan, Richard Daw, and their…read moreRaleigh Cardiology associates are truly the best in the business for cardiac care. My 87-year old father lives in the area and worked with this team to get through several issues, including the most recent - a new TAVR valve replacement procedure that was amazing. Throughout, this team of doctors showed amazing care both for my dad and for our family. EVERYONE we dealt with treated us as though we were the only people they had to worry about. I can only say it was an unexpected pleasure - especially since I had to come to Raleigh from Atlanta, GA for the meetings and appointments. We highly recommend these doctors and are grateful for them.

I was with with my father for his surgical procedure and post-operative days. He was a patient of Dr. Tan's for a cardiac valve replacement and the service provided by him and his associates was exceptional. They communicated their caring and concern by taking time to make sure questions were answered and they have processes in place to help both patient and family to feel calm and confident about the planned procedure. The pre-operative process was clearly communicated and was coordinated by an RN who assisted my father and I during the several hours of pre-op tests. The nurse arranged a visit with the anesthesiologist, made sure that test results were complete, and communicated with Dr Tan as needed. The anesthesiologist spent at least 20 minutes with us and asked several times whether we had questions. We met with Dr Tan and his nurse practitioner for about 30 minutes and they again made sure that instructions were clear and that our questions were answered. Dr Tan asked for and used my cell phone number to get in touch with me about the latest updates and about any changes to plans. He also urged me to call him any time if I had a question or a concern. He called or sent text messages and also asked each time whether I had additional questions or concerns. One evening he saw me in the hall and turned around to come talk to me and go with me to see my father so he could personally update us on things he felt were important. The Wake Medical Center staff and hospitality services enabled me to relax and get needed food and rest. Thank you for demonstrating how good medical care can be.

Why does NC Heart and Vascular/UNC Rex hate patients so much? During the past year I have been…read morethrough several cardiologists here and have been endlessly frustrated. None of them respond to emails nor phone messages within the three business days promised on the patient portal message feature. EVER. It takes over a week to hear back. And another week quite often to get to a resolution of the issue. Patients are clearly not a priority. When they do respond it takes a week or more to get them to correct repeated errors. A few months ago I needed to request reauthorizations and minor changes to 3 heart meds, but the nurse screwed up every. single. one. More tHan once. Each error could have been avoided had she just read my emails rather than glossing over them. They really couldn't do a worse job if they tried. One cardiologist ignored my pleas for help and refused to change my treatment plan, which resulted in a trip to the E.R., 3 day hospital stay, and surgery. Another had a major freakout because I see an integrative doctor as my PCP. ??? I currently have an urgent situation that could be resolved in 5 minutes' time, yet I have been waiting 2 weeks so far for any response to my email and voicemail. They are aware that the beta blocker I take for a serious heart condition has been discontinued by the manufacturer recently, and that I need a new beta blocker prescription immediately before my current fill runs out, but choose not to respond, as usual. During the course of at least a half dozen attempts to contact the current cardiologist, in which I could do nothing--no grocery shopping, no vacuuming, no other calls--while waiting on a response for a week or more, it was made abundantly clear that not one medical staff member cares squat if patients live or die. They leave patients with few options in urgent situations. I should not have to go to the Emergency Room just to get a prescription. UNC/Rex/NCHAV's negligence will end in lawsuits. UNC/Rex/NCHAV do not deserve their reputations. They have taken the "care" out of healthcare. Shockingly unprofessional, should have certifications revoked. Anyone know a decent cardiologist who is not part of the 3 main health care systems in the Raleigh area? One who actually wants his/her patients to live...

Instead, my own research led me to find that I was magnesium deficient for years. This caused fast heart rate and high blood pressure. I took magnesium LThreonate from Dr. Mercola or life extensions on amazon. 3 times per day. I am healed and have been off meds for 2 years. I hope this helps other to research root cause and not go on life long medication that will not ever heal your body. You will only become dependent on it, and it will cause other negative issues.

Also stop calling my black wife Ms if there is a white husband with a wedding ring with her. don't make early morning appointments and then show up 10 minutes late as the doctor for the appointment. This is the first time during our 5 years of marriage this husband was not allowed to be in the same room as the wife. Most unprofessional medical service I have seen in 55 years on 3 continents. When you see a man in the waiting room and you are not sure he is a direct family member as he has a different skin color as the patient perhaps ascertain who he is prior to refusing entry with the patient. Have you considered racial sensitivity training of your staff?

Ahmed Farag, MD is the most disrespectful doctor we met ever in our life!…read moreMy dad had a brain stroke and because my mom only speaks Arabic they brought him to her, but he was so rude and out of touch from reality with his harassments! First, they give medication to my dad. He will tell my mom this medication will cost you 5k like if he is paying out of his own pocket, he even called me and asked me to quit my job to support my mom like the sky rains money, so I shut him down. His tune become more rude with her that one time she burst out crying telling me how rude he was with her, he wanted her to bring my siblings overseas who are not citizens of the US as we own the immigration and borders then he mentioned to her how mad he is because I shut him down after requesting to quit my job, as a doctor I shouldn't speak to him this way, finally he said to her he is the manager of this section and will do something about it. Seriously, who talks like that! or because my mom can't speak English he can say whatever the hell he wants without consequences. This is harassment! When I knew how he was treating my mom and the way he talked to her. I called the hospital and lash out about what happened, they told me I'm on speakerphone. I said that is perfect, because I want the entire hospital to hear about this disrespectful person and how much harassment he is giving my mom! My mom was so scared to go to the hospital to avoid seeing him! After that they took him out from my dad's medical staff and apologized for his misbehavior. We think people know how the hospital treats people who don't speak English well. UNC had a bad handle for my dad's case and they were trying their best to throw my dad out of the hospital even though they were promising my mom otherwise. One day they came and took my dad without telling my mom where are they taking him and she was following him without knowing where they are going with him, they took him to my house without calling the house owner that is me and I'm not their guardian or co-signer and asked my mom to sign on receiving him and he was good to be discharged! After 2 days we called the ambulance and sent my dad this time to Wakened as blood was coming out with his stool and it wasn't treated from UNC REX! If you want to kill and humiliate someone send it this place as I'm sure they will do a great job!
