Wake med gave us an appt on Tues. When we went they said we couldnt pay out of pocket and UMR insurance does not accept our doc any more. Wake med solution was for us to go back to the ED. Forget them!!!!! And forget United!!!! If anything happens to my wife in the mean time you can bank on a law sute coming from me.

Dr. Short entered the exam room shortly after reviewing the ECG, took a complete medical history - carefully comparing what he learned from our discussion with what the paper history suggested. He reviewed my blood pressure record, shed light on the way medical thinking about blood pressure and HBP treatment has evolved and changed over the years - a very telling perspective that shed light on the BP drugs prescribed over time, and diet/liquid intake recommendations, among other things. From the start of the exam, I was impressed with his explanations, his evaluation of the Rx routine I had been following, his recommended changes to that routine. I should note that I was comforted by the first step in his exam: taking my pulse the old-fashioned way, placing two fingers of his right hand on my wrist, and clocking things using his wristwatch. I've booked a follow up exam with his office; I recommend Dr. Short unreservedly.

First, they give medication to my dad. He will tell my mom this medication will cost you 5k like if he is paying out of his own pocket, he even called me and asked me to quit my job to support my mom like the sky rains money, so I shut him down. His tune become more rude with her that one time she burst out crying telling me how rude he was with her, he wanted her to bring my siblings overseas who are not citizens of the US as we own the immigration and borders then he mentioned to her how mad he is because I shut him down after requesting to quit my job, as a doctor I shouldn't speak to him this way, finally he said to her he is the manager of this section and will do something about it. Seriously, who talks like that! or because my mom can't speak English he can say whatever the hell he wants without consequences. This is harassment! When I knew how he was treating my mom and the way he talked to her. I called the hospital and lash out about what happened, they told me I'm on speakerphone. I said that is perfect, because I want the entire hospital to hear about this disrespectful person and how much harassment he is giving my mom! My mom was so scared to go to the hospital to avoid seeing him! After that they took him out from my dad's medical staff and apologized for his misbehavior. We think people know how the hospital treats people who don't speak English well. UNC had a bad handle for my dad's case and they were trying their best to throw my dad out of the hospital even though they were promising my mom otherwise. One day they came and took my dad without telling my mom where are they taking him and she was following him without knowing where they are going with him, they took him to my house without calling the house owner that is me and I'm not their guardian or co-signer and asked my mom to sign on receiving him and he was good to be discharged! After 2 days we called the ambulance and sent my dad this time to Wakened as blood was coming out with his stool and it wasn't treated from UNC REX! If you want to kill and humiliate someone send it this place as I'm sure they will do a great job!

He has never treated me as a patient, seen me in person or contacted me to discuss my Long Covid symptoms which include heart palpitations and chest pain. He reviewed my medical records along with the research and CDC guidance I submitted to my insurance provider, Aetna, as part of my appeal to get the cost of an echocardiogram covered. Despite all of the documentation provided including this CDC guidance: Additional diagnostic testing should be guided by findings from the patient history and physical examination and results of previous diagnostic testing, and may include a chest x-ray, pulmonary function tests, electrocardiogram, or echocardiogram for persistent or new respiratory or cardiac concerns, https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/clinical-care/post-covid-conditions.html Joseph Guzzo chose to dismiss my symptoms and denied my appeal for an echocardiogram. The front desk staff and nurse were fantastic; however, this joke of a doctor began my appointment…read moreby asking me why I was even there. He then talked non-stop during my short 5-minute appointment, only allowing me to say 1-2 words when answering his questions. At one point, I was asked a question and after 1-2 words, he started talking over me again. He then condescendingly told me to let him finish speaking. Now as I look through my record, I see that there were abnormalities on my EKG that were never discussed with me. What an absolute joke; I will never be returning.

After a major flare up of my low back disc issue, I had to get a PCP referral as an insurance…read morerequirement. Most all my providers are from Duke Health. My regular PCP was not available, but was able to get into see another very quickly. He provided the referral to ortho. Of course an appt was about 4 wks out unless in a severe need. My flareup was manageable and a lot of rest was calming things down. However I went on the wait list and got a reschedule for end of the wk. The PA I had was very good, patiently listening to my long history - 20 yrs of post disc surgery history with periodic flareups, daily aches and pains in various areas related to the nerves, and my past experience with PT. With only limited info from the X-ray, next stage is a MRI since I've not had an update since the surgery. With the MRI, more detail will help determine next steps. Possibly cortisone injections will be sufficient. I've just relocated here about 2.5 yrs ago, so I am establishing my healthcare anew. So far my Duke providers have been excellent. The only complaint is having to travel to Durham for many procedures because in my case having several replacement heart valves and a pacemaker require a full blown hospital setting "just in case". Plus there are MRI effects on the pacemaker due to my specific custom programming that could be reset. So to avoid any problems, I need the higher level of expertise at the "mothership". Otherwise, Heritage is extremely convenient being only 4 mi from home. In my first year here, I established my cardiac care at Duke Raleigh which is a reasonable drive. My first PCP was at Creedmore, not a terrible drive, but I eventually found a PCP PA at North Park which is much more convenient with backup PCPs and urgent care at heritage. Trigger finger issues started on my right hand about 4 yrs ago before relocating here. I got the initial injections which helped for about 6-9 months. A repeat set of injections, lasted much longer generally mitigating the locking up, still stiff at times but manageable. Eventually found finger on left hand started to lock up, so first PCP referred me to Duke ortho in Durham. Kind of hassle to drive there but went and those shots lasted quite a while. Just in recent months intermittently getting a third right hand finger locking up. So a got a new referral for Duke ortho at heritage - yay! At least this can be addressed more locally now. Not sure if Ortho dept at heritage is new or just recently expanded, but so far it has been far more convenient and so far things are moving along well.

Time in waiting area was short, X-rays prompt, slight wait to be seen by Dr Hanselman - he apologized for the wait (it was maybe 35 minutes) and was very kind and professional. He explained my injury, what to expect and was very thorough. Follow up in 3 weeks and my care plan is all set. Highly recommend Dr Hanselman! Side note - lady at the patient reception area is not friendly *at all* , she should not be the first person you see when arriving. Clearly doesn't like her job. :(
