They fixed the infection but then sent me home with the internal bleeding without finding the cause despite my complaints of pain. I ended up at Duke where I was immediately put on steroids to bring down the inflammation and then given an iron infusion because I had lost so much blood (and 30lbs in 3 weeks) Duke then did a full endoscopy to find the cause of the bleeding, something they said Wake Med should have done. I ended up being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and put on medication immediately. I also have had a minor surgery at wake med where I waited in a room full of patients who were not screened for covid. The staff was extremely rude and condescending and I found out after the surgery that the surgeon didn't even know my medical history or the medications I was taking. I will never have any services done at wake med again and I will make sure none of my friends or family members go there.
