Definitely not an authentic tiki bar anymore, but still one of my favorites. It's tucked at the end of Wall Street so it doesn't get as crazy as some of their bars, and has big open doors so there's lots of fresh air coming in. It can still get rowdy, but not insane like other bars there. Rather than crafty-tiki, most of what they carry is focused on the main wall street customer and volume. They can still make certain tiki drinks, and they make them very well, but don't expect a large assortment of fresh tropical juice or 50 rums to pick from. I came here last Sunday for Dirty Bingo. I have never been in Waitiki and usually avoid Wall St due to overcrowding. I have to say I really enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere is tiki inspired. I liked the decor. There is plenty of seating everywhere. The bartenders were very attentive here. I specifically remember Alex, he made me a pina collada and it was delish! The other bartender was really friendly too. Dirty bingo is free to play. The host is hilarious and he gives away a ton of free prizes. We played over 10 games from 10-12. They do have drink specials at the bar but I wish they had more special/ themed drinks and liquor specials. Overall it was a great experience and I can't wait to come again on a Sunday for Dirty Bingo, not sure about other nights though. read more

Popped in here in association with the Harry Potter Bar Crawl, and met up with a couple of the other death eaters. Do you know how hard it is to get service when you serve the dark? It's not, people part ways when you lean in... it's very easy! They were serving the Slytherin drink, it was this noxious green concoction that was a bit melon-y, I blame the Midori as the mixer but it was tasty and cool on the hot April afternoon. This was honestly an awful experience. Waited and watched at least 3-4 people come in after us get drinks, then we got our drink order placed, watched the bartender "manager" fumble for 3-5 mins with a check forgetting last names on tabs and such, finally made ours then when we asked for a floater he tried to say at first he couldn't do it: then he says the drinks are $14, then because we aren't paying with cash anymore it became $17 then it became $19.67 because we asked for the actual check for technically the 3rd time. His lack of customer service, knowledge of the prices and overall inability to take any fault in the situation was appalling. Calling us essentially broke because we disputed pricing and then charged us $13 for a half an ounce floater of captain Morgan shared between 2 drinks. Chill place to either grab a quick lunch, a good cocktail or chill with a huge crowd of people on the weekends! Mojitos!! Tip: only order during the day since they take some time to make. You don't want to piss off the staff and have everyone ordering mojitos when they are stacked 4 deep at the bar. If you are there for dinner, I am thinking that is the most acceptable time to order one. The strawberry mojito used to be my favorite. They would actually grind up fresh strawberries in the bottom and it was delic! However, the last time I had one there were no real strawberries =( BUMMER! So, for the next round I tried one of their VERY MANY other flavors: Coconut. Sounds weird right? It was delightful. It was very lite and not overwhelming, I was very impressed. Not sure I could down a lot of them but it was a nice treat. Spinach dip is kick-a here. They have a crispy pita-like chip instead of nachos, nice change! The burgers are always good as well. The last time I got this special burger with pineapple on it...don't usually like hot fruit, pineapple is the one I will make an exception for from time to time and this time was a great experience. Unfortunately, Red Stripes aren't $2.50 all day err day anymore, bumped up to $3. Still not bad. $3 mimosas, $5 fireball, $15 buckets and the NFL Ticket kept us company during our stay. Ordered some appetizers. Grilled avocado and some fried pickles. The grilled avocado was nice. All diced up in it's skin. Easy to scoop out with your spoon or with a chip that comes on the side. (Of note, also comes with a VERY tasty salsa). The REAL surprise were the fried pickles. House made, these chips were all the size of sand dollars. Lightly fried with a nice crispy crust. Not an overbearing panko batter that often hides the taste of whatever it is coated on. Juicy and crisp, everyone at the table agreed they exceeded all expectation. Also got that Waitiki house made ranch for dipping on the side. If I could get one of these fatty fried pickles on a burger, my life would be complete. Before attending a concert at Amway center, my coworkers and I stopped in here for drinks and dinner. We were going to eat somewhere else, but they didn't have a bar which we were looking forward to. We happened upon this place and were quickly seated. Our server started off with our drink orders and I was excited at their vast drink menu and ordered a Hurricane. What came back was not as exciting, it tasted like alcohol and cough syrup. We ordered gator bites, gyro sliders, and coconut shrimp to start. One red flag was that the sauces came in little plastic dixie cups, and they failed to bring out any silverware until someone asked for it. Someone in our group asked what was better, one of their chicken sandwiches or a cheeseburger, and the server said the cheeseburger, which was another red flag. I decided on the south padre - a burger with chili and cheese. When it came out, I had pretty high hopes, but the bread was pretty hard. The chili was nothing special, and the fries were really the best part of the meal. One of my coworkers had the fish tacos, and when one of them had a piece of fish smaller than your pinky, he brought it to our server's attention and her response was just "oooooh I'm sorry" and she walked away. I still am going with 4 stars on this one since each and every time I've been a customer here, I've had great service regardless of the time of day or night. And more specifically, some of their menu items are pretty great considering it's a fairly casual place. Consistently, the Summer Harvest Panini seems to be a winner. Smashed between tasty pressed bread sits lettuce, tomato, onion, slicked turkey, and cranberry cream cheese. And if you decide to go the healthier route and substitue the sauteed veggies for the fries (which are good) you won't be disappointed. They are tasty, fresh, and not from a bag. The drinks as I mentioned before are tasty and have a good blend of liquor and mixers. For $6, try their Sex on the Bay. It's a mixture of liquor, cachaca, peach schnapps, pineapple and cranberry juices. It comes in a big glass too--not a small one that is gone too quickly. The Polynesian Lemonade is also refreshing while delicious. And although I've never tried it, I feel it's important to mention their Phucket Buckets. For $20 you and your friends can drink through straws and enjoy the after effects all together! read more

Wai Tiki has great atmosphere. It's a great place to grab a cheap bite to eat before going out on the town. Don't expect any 5-star dining here... it's basically bar food. Burgers, chicken fingers... you get the picture. Last time I ate there, I had some super greasy coconut shrimp. Not good. They tasted like they had come out of the freezer and were microwaved. She was pretty slow with service though and also forgot one of my parties entire meal until about an hour later. We were already good on drinks by then so he just canceled the meal. I had the pork skewer app, they were tasty. I ordered the "highly recommended" ma hi fish tacos. It comes with three, and you put all the fix-ins' in yourself, but the sad thing was it comes in a perfect Lincoln log shaped fish stick. That was kind of a bummer. The gyro sliders were just ok. But my standards for lamb meet and gyro's is pretty damn high up there, so most people at the table enjoyed them. Happy Hour is till 7pm and it was half off the fancy cocktail drinks and half off apps! I tried the strawberry mojito, bomb. Love it. They usually have some good specials but for some reason my money is on the Fish sandwich called Fish On! While I will also say just about any seafood related meals in the Wall St Plaza is good. Waitiki is a cool spot on downtown's Wall Street. It isn't a must-visit, but it has its charms. I didn't get to the see much of the interior; there's a nice amount of outdoor seating along Wall Street or in the back, facing the History Museum grounds. This reminds of one of those casual beachy places where if you placed a bet that you'd hear Margaritaville at least once, you'd likely win. But there was no Jimmy Buffett, just some fairly pleasant rock on the Pandora. I like the signs on the walls and posts, such as "OPD never thinks it's as funny as you do" and "I only drink to make you more interesting." I ordered too much -- hush puppies a little bit overcooked and a passable mahi wrap dish called Tiki Tacos. The vibe at Waitiki outshines the menu. read more

I've given this place five stars for the happy hour. I work downtown, so this is an easy spot for me to get to and it's a great deal. When my original favorite downtown spot , The Globe, all but closed, I tried WaiTiki, a few steps away. They adopted the half-price apps (although I still miss the pot stickers) and drinks, so I was sold. If you like Polynesian food, tropical drinks and a retro tiki vibe, this is good spot to try. I go for the pina colada, coconut shrimp and chicken tenders. I can easliy get out of there for under $20. For the most part I've had a good service, the food and drinks come quick, and the waitstaff has been attentive. Once I was served the wrong item and charged for it (they corrected it), but it can happen. Outside of happy hour, I probably wouldn't go. Although I like the relaxing atmosphere, the prices are a bit high. On a side note, for anyone else that was/is also a fan of The Globe, when I dropped in recently, they mentioned they were serving food again, although it's from WaiTiki. read more

Good food. SHADY pricing. This is my second time here. My first time was good, which is why we came back. Advice: do not order a side dish unless it already comes with your meal. Nothing fancy with the fries either. Just a regular side of fries. Lol. There is no pricing for side items on their menu, so watch out! Either our server Logan put in that price cause I ordered a "small plate" dish ( meaning his 20% tip wouldn't be as high at the end ), OR that really is the unwritten price of a side order of fries. CRAZY. Aaaaand I tipped the server MORE than 20% because I use to be a server. I had my toddler son with me so I didn't realize all of this till we got home. Dang it. Also, this was the first time the server asked to keep my credit card on tab. I was confused because when I said 'no we weren't ordering drinks', he persisted to say they needed a card on tab. This retro-tiki lounge is a tight spot to just cool out, give it a try. Stopped by here during a margarita hunt in downtown on a Tuesday night and everything I wished for was granted. WaiTiki refreshing ice cold magnificent margarita drinks will quench your thirst and have you buzzfully thankful. Other washed down kool-aid related wanna-be margartitas of Orlando watch out..there is a new boss in town. I'm surprised they didn't have Tuesday nights advertised at all...they had a REAL dj spinning. Not just somebody who plays a regular track and tries to walk around with the DJ title. The guy was very talented I will get his name next time, almost stayed there all night jamming out to his tracks. He played alot of soulful hip hop, and 90 joints...everything from Common, Lauryn hill, Rakim, Mos Def...wow wow very impressive due to alot of Orlando bars just putting on a regular radio station. Stepping into Wai-Tiki will make you feel like you are at a bar in Hawaii. Until you step outside and that humidity slaps you in the face. But that is neither here nor there. The only thing missing from this place is a large man playing the ukulele (man I can't believe I spelled it right on the first try). The few times I have visited this place, I normally just pull up a seat at the bar and drank red stripes. Hooray beer! However I have noticed people getting Mojitos and it has made me quite envious. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was really delicious, not at all the mediocre bar food I expected. Pork nachos were outrageously yummy and great to share with a table. Redneck poutine was super tasty too, and loved by all. I had two tacos- the sweet & spicy pineapple pork and the crispy fish. The pork was the standout. The fish was meh - not enough flavor, especially compared with the pork. The biggest surprise was the quality of the fries that came with the boyfriend's burger. They were fantastic and I was sad when they were gone. Beverages were pretty good. Obviously the red stripe was a bargain, so a couple of people in our group chose that. One ordered a coconut margarita that was really strange and not at all tasty. Not sure if it was the mix of flavors or if something was off, but it was not good.
