Stumbled upon this place on a weeknight as Thai food was on our mind. The experience wasn't impressive but seeing as it's relatively new, it's not too late to make some tweaks and improve! - first impression was the restaurant was surprisingly warm (24-25C); it didn't help that the kitchen is open concept so the stir fry further heats up the place - I bit into eggshell multiple times in the pineapple fried rice - the shrimp in the pad Thai had no flavour whatsoever; marinade the shrimp! - the regular pad Thai is a bit too sweet even though I didn't taste ketchup; it isn't spicy at all but you can request for their hot sauce which is pretty good - the service was good, although they were clearly understaffed around dinner time on a weeknight It's a new establishment with potential to improve and become a go-to spot in the area for Thai food.

The staff were extremely nice and quick with their service. The restaurant was very long and had a surprising amount of tables with lots of Thai decor. We ordered the following: Green curry with brown rice 7/10 - chose tofu as protein and it was very good, flavourful coconut curry with lots of vegetables - $18 Khao Soi 9/10 - Egg noodles with beef and a golden coconut curry, very flavourful and filled with lots of onions and green + red peppers. Very tasty and presentation was on point - $21 Thai iced tea 7/10 - a little too sweet for my liking but still pretty good - $4.5 Golden sweet potato fritters 8/10 - loved the texture for this, almost like fries but fright in a light batter. Came with sweet and sour dipper sauce too - $14 Overall I thought the food was very good, and portion sizes were good as well, we ended up taking home most of the sweet potato fritters because we were too full to finish! total spent was about $75 after tax and tips

The choices are really good and come with a main dessert and drink. They say the portion is small but I found that not to be the case! We had so much we ended up with leftovers. The salad was interesting but the tom yum fried rice was so delicious. Definitely coming back soon.

There's a cute little shop at their entrance filled with snacks, a couple of clothes & knick knacks Love all Thai wall decor & lighting! We ordered: beef & broccoli, Bangkok pad thai, lemon fish, rice, buttery roti, plus durian pastry, mango with sticky rice. The standouts for us were the pad thai, lemon fish, durian pastry and buttery roti While they initially forgot the buttery roti order (& we were provided with sticky rice during the meal), they did produce it after our dessert & we were not charged for the sticky Kevin was truly a delightful, charming and hospitable server and we appreciated the surprise special bday jelly treats for the unsuspecting bday woman. And thanks to the other staff woman who took our group Polaroid of us! Thank you KEVIN & everyone there for making our night a wonderful experience! Would definitely return ... I had the tom yum risotto the flavours were good but it was really weird to me how they used jasmine rice. It literally reminded me of a white bowl of rice mixed with sauce... I wasn't sure how I felt about it. The shrimp wasn't well prepared - very rubbery and not deveined. I also got the chicken pad thai. It's not the authentic pad thai you would expect - more ketchup side but I didn't mind it. The portions were outrageously small for $20 though. Not a lot of chicken either.

The menu is quite extensive but after asking for some advice and fan favourites, I ended up with the Tom yum seafood "risotto" and the hubs got the Green curry baked cheese with chicken cutlet. First off, the baked curry was okay... not a lot of green curry sauce. The chicken was fine. Not really a dish that wow'd us too much. The Tom Yum Seafood risotto was very tasty and flavourful. I was told it was a fan favourite so I was very intrigued. Sadly, upon arrival, it could have used a better presentation - they put it on a big flat plate so it looked...kinda gross. Secondly, they didn't use Arborio rice. I get that that would've taken a lot longer to make but using regular rice was a disappointment. But after a taste, I was definitely wow'd by the flavour. I quite enjoyed it, despite the rice. Not sure we're going to be in a hurry to come back but it's worth a try!

The chicken was soft and tender, and the accompanying sauce had a strong ginger taste that made the dish stand out. I appreciated that it was boneless, which made it very easy to eat. My friends tried the Phat Kaphrao (Stir fried meat with rice) and Padthai, both very fragrant and fresh. One thing I noted was how friendly and helpful the restaurant personnel were. They were happy to answer our questions, offer chilli oil on the side, and even recommended the level of spiciness for our dishes. I ordered mine medium-spicy, which had just the right amount of heat for my taste. The restaurant was small, with only four seats. We were lucky because we did not know about it but could still dine in. Most people ordered takeout instead. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and would recommend Phat Khaphrao to anyone looking for authentic and flavourful Thai food. I can't wait to return and order more dishes, this time to go!

We tried to walk in around 7:30 on a weeknight and the wait was about an hour so we got pick up instead and it was still delicious. The interior did look very cool and fun and large. I reserved a month in advance for my husband and I to eat at 6:00, and the restaurant steadily filled up during the course of our dinner. This, on a Monday night, is surprising, and a testimony to Pai's popularity. The interior of the restaurant is quite beautiful and welcoming, betraying its somewhat sketchy location above the Rose and Crown Pub. Sure enough, we were not disappointed by our meal. We started with some deep fried tofu bites, and these were really crispy and a delicious way to prepare tofu. It was a perfect, light appetizer. Then, on to the main course: My husband ordered Chicken Pad See Ew, and it had the thickest noodles that I'd ever seen in this dish. I wasn't sure what to expect! I tried a bite, and it was so tasty, with a variety of textures and a slightly smoky flavour. The thick noodles were beautifully cooked and complemented the dish very well. To my surprise, it was one of the better renditions of Pad See Ew (my usual go-to at Thai restaurants) that I've tried. I ordered the Khao Soi, with both shrimp and tofu (they kindly obliged, with an extra charge for the shrimp). This was unlike anything I'd ever seen, and its presentation was spectacular, with it's golden curry sauce and plume of fried egg noodles. My first several bites were superb: the fragrant, coconut flavored curry sauce perfectly complemented the noodles, shrimp and particularly the toful. On another occasion, I think that I would just order the tofu. Eventually, I found the richness of the sauce too have overwhelmed me, and I took the rest home. With its really spectacular amount of coconut curry sauce, it was excellent the next day with some additional tofu and steamed rice. All in all, very satisfactory, and our waiter was really pleasant and informative about the food. Was it worth reserving a month in advance? I'd say yes, it was, as Pai presents an excellent interpretation of Thai food, and the presentation of the the Khao Soi alone was worth the wait! Not to mention, we had a whole meal the next day from the leftovers! We will come back when we are in the area, if we can get in!!
