My first impression was, "Great location without the crowds." We had a great time at Wagyu Factory Lake Forest, the food was great and our server Abraham was exceptional! He checked in on us often, was friendly, attentive and informative on all the menu items. The menu was expansive, the food quality was great, and we loved our server who made our family welcome at the table. Thank you for an awesome dining experience! Loved the easy ordering options on the tablet and the food service was quick. The menu was expansive from appetizers to meat options, cold dishes, desserts and more. Endless choices for everyone at the table. The lasting impression? "Great service, delicious food and menu options, great hospitality!"

Wagyu Factory is a high end AYCE wagyu BBQ spot and is part of the Chubby Cattle group of restaurants. This location is similar to how a Korean BBQ place operates. Ordering is done strictly through an IPad or communicated to one's server. One is allowed to order 6 items at a time, and then must wait 3 minutes before ordering any more. They have 2 menu options: Select ($50 - limited meat options and only available on weekday lunches) and Premium ($70). Premium Wagyu ($70) - This option included quite a few cuts of M9 beef (Australia's highest standard, and options included ribeye, short rib, wagyu steak, top blade). However the best beef options were the A5 wagyu brisket and A5 wagyu ootoro. Both were extremely thin and had so much flavor and I would recommend getting those exclusively! It only took 2 seconds for these cuts to cook on the grill on each side. There were veggie options to choose from including salads, edamame, kimchi, zucchini, potato, mushrooms, etc. Other items included: sashimi, suchi, handrolls, takoyaki, calamari, chicken kaarage, shrimp tempura, dumplings, and so much more. For dessert their matcha ice cream was excellent as well as their egg custard tarts. Overall service was outstanding here, and the quality of items and options were great! This is probably the best Chubby Cattle restaurant I have tried. Pricing is fair for the quality of meats and options that they offer.

Gia was our server and she was so sweet!! Just an fyi because we were surprised but Wagyu Factory is related to Chubby Cattle so if you have the membership it applies here too. If not, you still get points through the chubby app so it's worth downloading. I don't love that they ran out of the select menu so you had to get the premium ~$60/person. The ambiance is dark, loud but surprisingly not filled with bbq smoke which I appreciated! Gia cooked our first round for us perfectly. I personally love ordering off an ipad but I know some people absolutely hate it like my parents! Try their fried tofu, chicken skin dumplings and do not sleep on the desserts! Their roll cakes, especially the earl Grey one, was delicious! Some of the things I don't like are the fatty meats... usually I like brisket but it was so fatty. Overall worth an experience!!

Love loved this place! The meats all melted in my mouth and side dishes were super good. Got seated pretty quick and server was really nice .

I like that all chubby group location each have a different unique feel to them. I like that this wagyu factory in lake forest has a grill compared to the tustin location which used hot pot shabu style. All the meats here are tender and delicious. Service is great and fast. You can reserve on yelp which helps a lot. Prices are $60 for members, that includes a variety of wagyu cuts. Overall solid place and would definitely come back

While looking for a new Ayce bbq spot, we stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere of the place is really cool with tons of thematic decorations, and a wide variety of things you can order. The server, Talia, was also super kinda and accommodating throughout the experience. She was always on it with water refills and checked in when needed - grill changes and orders came fast as well. While the meat was good quality and delicious, with so much wagyu on the menu it can definitely get really heavy. Even when trying to pair it with other sides, it was hard to eat a lot. It's tasty but the end stretch becomes harder as you try to get your value out of the Ayce (especially cause it's pricy). They do have membership options to help reduce the price if that's something you're interested in!

First time coming to Wagyu Factory. It was pretty empty during lunch, with only about three parties the entire time we were there. Our server Jaden was super nice, very attentive, and took the time to explain everything, which we really appreciated. The food was great overall. The only downside was that the meat cuts weren't very consistent. Some pieces were thick while others were thin, even though they were the same item and we ordered multiple portions. Aside from that, the service really stood out. Looking forward to coming back.

Best resto in Lake Forest? Had an amazing dinner here with some friends. This location is on the smaller side, but we still had no wait on a weeknight around 6. Huge shoutout to our server Talia who was the only front of house working that night but still did an awesome job keeping all the tables happy and everything running smoothly. Service never felt rushed or neglected. And of course the meat quality was exactly what I expect from Chubby Group -- same amazing grade and flavor. Highly recommend for a nice treat!

We watched this place pop up on El Toro several months ago and knew we had to check it out. I'm so happy we finally have great Korean BBQ nearby and don't have to drive all the way (10-15 mins) to Irvine anymore! **Membership & Value** On our first visit, we signed up for the **Chubby Club membership**. It's a little confusing at first, but it's definitely worth it. It gives you a BOGO birthday meal and a per-person discount that eventually pays for itself. Plus, it's great that you can use it at multiple locations. **Food & Service** The food selection is good, though we've noticed they do run out of certain items occasionally. That said, we've been back a couple of times now and the experience has been very enjoyable. The service is consistently solid. **The Vibe** The ambiance is fantastic! There are definitely a lot of Instagram-worthy features throughout the restaurant that make for a fun dining atmosphere. Overall, it's a great addition to the area. We'll definitely be regulars!

Shout out to Gia for a great BBQ experience with great cuts of Wagyu, pork belly and more, along with tasty side dishes, appetizers, sushi and dessert. Go premium for the best cuts! Much better than the Wagyu spot before so give it another try if you haven't been.

Look at how gross this looks when you wipe the meat on the grill....

The only standout item is the M9 Wagyu short rib -- that one is genuinely good. Unfortunately, every other meat we tried was mediocre at best and overly seasoned. We ordered brisket and toro and specifically requested no seasoning, but the cuts were strange: not Korean-style thin, not thick either -- just awkwardly cut, which affected both texture and grilling. Another big issue: the grill was extremely dirty. It looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned between tables, which is pretty unacceptable for a BBQ place. They seriously need to step up their table and grill sanitation. Service is where things really fall apart. They are severely understaffed, and even when the restaurant is nearly empty, it takes forever to get seated. First visit: waited 15 minutes after being told it would be 5 minutes, then left. Second visit: had a reservation and still didn't get seated until 10 minutes past the reservation time. Once seated, ordering and receiving food is painfully slow. The manager is a huge problem. He has a bad attitude and acts like customers are inconveniencing him just by asking for service. On my first visit, I asked for a menu and said we were ready to order. He responded with, "Oh, place order on iPad, ok..." -- except there was no iPad on the table. Don't assume every customer magically knows your system, and definitely don't give attitude about it. Honestly, if this place weren't part of the Chubby Cattle group, I would never come back. The membership/NFT pricing is the only reason it's even remotely worth considering. Without that value, this wouldn't be a repeat spot at all.

This location only HAS BBQ NO HOTPOT fyi. Wagyu Factory offers a refined 90-minute dining experience where you can order new dishes every 3 minutes--perfect pacing without feeling rushed. Gia & Dancan delivered warm, thoughtful service that elevated the entire meal and made the experience feel personal and memorable. The A5 wagyu was outstanding, and the tom yum soup was perfectly balanced--not overpowering at all. The marinated meats were flavorful yet subtle, letting the quality of the meat shine. Ending with matcha ice cream was a lovely final touch.

Victoria P.

Talia was awesome as a server and giving us a great first time experience at wagyu factory. She was great with suggestions and helped cooked some food on the grill There was an assortment of high quality means ranging from Australian to Japanese cuts. We did the premium all you can eat 18 different meats. You can order 6 items every 3 minutes. Loved all the sides and marinades. Will definitely come back

Ask the Community - Wagyu Factory

Do they cook your meat?

No, you cook it yourself

Can I make reservations?

Yes. You can make reservations via Yelp Reservations.

How much is kids?

$69 without the membership for premium ayce, everyone at the table must have the same menu.

Is there a hot pot on the El Toro location?

Don't think they're set up for hot pot at this location. When we went, it was just bbq. I think the Tustin location is shabu shabu.

Is this halal meat?

No this is not halal meat

Is this the same as V wagyu bbq? Not sure I see a sign that says Wagyu Factory.

It's under new ownership, they changed the name. It's the same location.

What's the Pricing? Kids?

It was 69.99 per adult for the nicer menu. Not sure how much for kids. We did see children there.

The restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated right away. The vibe inside was authentic feeling Japanese style, smallish with several tables and sushi bar seating. My chicken oyakodon was a bowl of cozy comfort to me. It was topped with two slices of yellow pickled daikon. I'm sure it was homemade daikon, not like what you get in a jar from Tokyo Central. We were served their delicious miso soup as a starter. My sister ordered beef teriyaki and tempura. She said it was good. The restaurant started filling up as we ate our meal. A good sign of good authentic Japanese is when you see a lot of Japanese/Asians filling up the place, especially older people (haha, like me), because you know they know well prepared authentic. And that's the crowd that was coming in. Located in a busy center with limited parking, it must get crazy busy later in the evening because the sign outside the entrance says where to form the line. Anyway, my oyakodon and miso soup was so good!

It was honestly disturbing and completely ruined my appetite. There was no warning or explanation, and it felt careless and unhygienic rather than "fresh" or authentic. I left feeling uneasy and disappointed, and I will not be returning or recommending this place. There are many sushi restaurants that focus on freshness without making customers uncomfortable, and this unfortunately is not one of them.

One of my favorites is the bento box. It's such a solid deal. You get a roll, salad, soup, rice and your choice of protein, and it always fills you up. Can't go wrong with it. Everything always tastes fresh, the flavors are consistent, and we've honestly never had a bad experience here. On top of that, it's always a good vibe inside. It took quite a while just to get water and place our order, even after asking the sushi chef (who was not happy to be asked). We ordered the cucumber salad, shrimp tempura, and soft shell crab to start. The cucumber salad was plain and lacked dressing, the tempura was decent, and the soft shell crab was tasty with a small side salad with sesame dressing that was actually the best part. For mains, we had two bento boxes -- one with chicken teriyaki and baked mussels, and the other with mackerel shioyaki and fried shrimp. The miso soup was solid, but the salad could've used more dressing. Overall, the food was okay, but the poor service really hurt the experience. This was our second visit, and unfortunately, I think it might be our last. It feels like dine-in guests take a back seat to the takeout business here.

Off we went. Parking was easy in a large strip mall. No hostess here - you are greeted by the 2 sushi chefs upon walking in to sit wherever you'd like. The picture menu is easy to order off of. There are 2 big screens in the room. Tonight they were playing the World Baseball Classic. Women's restroom was clean - check! You get complimentary edamame upon being seated. Just 1 server handling all orders at the time we came in - a nice Korean lady, who at times seemed oblivious ie cleaning empty tables instead of giving us our check at the end of the meal when it was very apparent we were done. lol I looked for something on the menu that has unagi AND salmon but no dice so opted for dragon roll. My other half ordered #8 (forgot the name but it was good though I preferred my dragon roll more) but all in all our rolls came out delicious. Looking around, this place appears to be both a local spot and date spot from a few couples in the room. FYI -- no photos because we were busy with a cranky toddler. First, the service was genuinely great. The sweetest lady helped us with the menu and served our food, and we really appreciated her kindness. We were also given complimentary edamame, which was thoughtful, although it was bland, dry, and cold -- almost like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while. Since it was complimentary, we didn't think too much of it. For the mains, we ordered the beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki bento specials. Unfortunately, both proteins were sliced extremely thin. The chicken especially had a jerky-like texture, and both the chicken and beef lacked flavor. After reading other reviews, they had similar experience. The teriyaki sauce itself was also pretty bland. The tempura was okay, but the tempura dipping sauce tasted watered down and lacked the usual savory depth you'd expect. The one standout was the roll topped with salmon and avocado with spicy tuna inside. It was presented beautifully and tasted fresh and well-balanced. Based on this, I honestly think rolls are what they do best. I really hope they improve the preparation and seasoning of the chicken and beef because it was a major turnoff -- and this is coming from someone who eats pretty much everything. It's hard to justify paying around $22 for a bento when the main protein feels flavorless and insubstantial. With so many good Japanese resto in Lake Forest, I would skip this until the proteins are fixed.
