Stopped here for lunch on our way out east on Route 66. Great casual atmosphere and great food. There seemed to be a good mix of local patrons and travelers which is always fun. I had really been wanting huevos rancheros earlier so I was glad to see that they had it and it was excellent! Also our waitress made sure to check if we're vegetarian before ordering items with meat ingredients, which was super thoughtful even though I'm not vegetarian. I Eat at Wagon Wheel on a regular basis and know most of the servers and everyone is usually great. Today we had a horrible experience, and I am just pissed so I am writing this review with the hopes that something will be done. We were sitting enjoying our breakfast and our server was great and had no complaints. Then a new server named Matthew comes on and we must have been sitting at station at one of his tables. During our breakfast he literally walks up to our table as rude as he can be as sets a bill down and says you need to pay your server Sam now. Not a Hi How is your meal, Not do you need anything else, no he just says here is your bill you need to pay your server Sam. I was like wow how rude is he. Our nice breakfast turned to complete shit. Then our kind server came over check on us and give us our bill and we said that rude server just told us pretty much to pay our bill and get out. I am just beside myself on how Wagon Wheel can allow their regular customers to be treated like this. Completely unacceptable. I felt so bad for our server, she was so embarrassed and felt so bad. We came here on the way home from Laughlin. Excellent food and such lovely service. Our waitress was incredible sweet and personable. This place is like eating at grandma's. We had the pot roast sandwich and ultimate croissant sandwich with side salads. Both amazing. The only mix up was one of us ordered fries and got onion rings. We asked to replace the onion rings with fries and they were happy to oblige but by the time we were done with our meal the waitress had come to tell us our fries went to another table and asked if she could get us anything else in the meantime. We were already full at this point and opted to pass. Great service, amazing food, and the horseradish sauce was incredible. We stopped here to eat on our way back home from camping. I wish I lived closer because I'd be here almost everyday! The service was awesome and the waitresses were very kind to us. Wonderful staff and food. Cute Route 66 themed ambiance. My boyfriend was skeptical on stopping here but I'm glad we did. I got the old fashioned meatloaf and my boyfriend got the pot roast, both were very tasty. For some reason the Dr Pepper tasted extra good here so I was happy about that too. Love the cowboy theme. And I liked the metal sheriff and Cowboys. Had a bus come in, very busy, but still did not take us long to get service. Wife and me split the 16 Oz steak. Steak was medium and it came that way, potato with the fixings And zucchini. Everything was just right. And of course I got a salad with bluecheese. And it came with spinach. Checked on us to make sure we were ok a few times and ensured us if something wasn't satisfactory to us, to let her know. Only saving this because the hubby ordered chicken fried steak and she said they cut their own meat and pound it themselves, therefore it could be a little tough. We had to stop for the night in Needles and were looking for a place for dinner. After looking at their menu online, we decided to stop here. The place has a great atmosphere, and our waitress, Kim, was super-friendly and helpful. I had the meatloaf skillet, which was just delish, and my wife had the pot roast skillet (the one that comes with mushrooms and onions), and that was fantastic! While waiting for our food, husband observed a customer saying that she didn't order garlic toast so a server picked up her toast to inspect it to see if it had garlic on it. It took 3 people to finger and sniff it to determine it had garlic on it. The toast was taken back to the kitchen area and placed on a counter and husband saw them take the fingered and sniffed toast to another customer after it was on another table and passed around 3 different people! Ewww! I get not wasting food. Because at home, we most definitely do this! Lol But this is a public restaurant during covid. Again... ewww! Lol. Then we see them fumble MY TOAST as it falls on the counter and they finger it and place it on its plate and delivered to me! So I've been to this place 3 times in the past couple months. The food has always been good. My last visit was my LAST visit... After drinking some of my diet coke, I noticed a big brown item floating in my diet coke. I was immediately grossed out. It looked like a cat turd (seriously). When the waitress came over I showed her and she said "sorry" and went and got me another diet coke. I could see the drink area from our table. She went and got me a new drink out of the same ice bin where my first drink came from!? I couldn't help thinking...... was this brown item in with the ice bin? was it already in the cup? was it a piece of hamburger than fell in the ice bin? was it animal dropping? Ruined my meal, of course. No way I can get myself to go back and eat here. This is a great breakfast place. But that's probably because it's part of a truckstop. The cool thing about the Wagon Wheel when you enter this log cabinesque building, is a wall full of trucker's destinations and the distance to them. I found my hometown on there. I think it said from Needles to Spokane was just over 1,000 miles. This is a very casual kind of place. It's a no frills restaurant but does have a flat screen LCD TV for viewing CNN while dining. The meals are basic and plentiful. The prices range from very cheap to moderate. For instance, you can get a plate of biscuits (2) and gravy and a cup of coffee for only $5. If you want sausage, bacon, or any other kind of breakfast meat, that will definitely up your bill to just over $8. I went with the cajun sausage and eggs plate. It came with my choice of hasbrowns, home fries, or grits along with toast or biscuit (that is served with gravy but you can ask them for just plain butter if you want). This is a lot of food, which I gladly scarfed down. I was hungry and this hit the spot. The rest of the table ordered the biscuits and gravy or bacon with eggs. The next time I'll have to ask for the egg substitute like Megan B. noted in her review. I didn't realize you could request that, but now I know and will have to remember. I'd also like to try their lunch and dinner menu another time. They offer up burgers, sandwiches, and hot sandwiches (like monte cristos, grilled cheese, melts, philly steak, etc.). Their dinner selections range from fried appetizers to full course meals like meatloaf, chicken fried steak, ribs, etc. to steaks, soup/chili, salads, mexican food, and two "waistliner plates." Heck, this place even has a salad bar. I'm curious to see what that looks like. At least this gives you a good idea of the small town kind of comfort food you can get at this place. Oh, and don't forget to take away with you their complimentary collector's menu where you can find local services like life coaches or real estate agents. :p If you're on Route 66 or heading through town on I-40, this is worth a stop to rest your weary eyes from driving and eat a hot, decent meal. read more

10 years of my business..never again..I have been coming here for years before the Laughin River Run and while I was not bouncing off the walls with the service or food, it was adequate. Service Sucked. My family and I waited for almost 45 min for the all you can eat fish, meat loaf, clam chowder. My daughters clam chowder was cold, the meat loaf, please, the mashed potatoes sticky and gooey. I was on the verge of walking out when I observed three tables arrive behind us, order, eat, pay and leave before we even received our food. Hmmmm I don't want to assume it was because I had an African American family? I will just hope not. When I ordered more fish, guess what..THEY FORGOT to make them...I quit..got up and we left, my daughter could not eat her food, the wife gave up on the meat loaf..the cold fish, forget it. As I was telling the cashier we were done, I needed a bill the server showed up with a basket of fish, saying they had messed up and made my order all over again.. They were not busy, they had maybe 4 tables during our visit. I stopped by this restaurant on my way from Laughlin to Los Angeles. All of the servers were really nice and the atmosphere of the restaurant is decent. We ordered the french dip (Philly style) and Monte Cristo. The Monte Cristo is supposedly one of their best sellers, but in my opinion, it was quite subpar. The inside of the sandwich was cold when served to us, and the texture of the sandwich was really spongy. We asked to have the sandwich heated up, and it came back to us refried. Let me make this clear: they threw our partially eaten sandwich into the deep fryer. The french dip was decent; had good flavors, but nothing too special. The service was fantastic. We stopped by for breakfast and the nice ladies kept my coffee topped off all the time. Never had to wait or ask, heck, I don't think the cup ever got less than half full. Also, we noticed that the waitresses also knew a lot of the regulars by name.... perhaps that is the normal thing around here, it was just cool to us since we rarely see that back home.
