I'm usually a fan of Wagamama, especially when I'm dining alone on a business trip as I was on this occasion. The quick service and canteen-style seating suits this type of dining. But this was a distinctly unsatisfactory experience compared to previous trips to their other locations. I knew what I wanted to going in and tried to order straight away but was asked to wait for my server. Fair enough, but I was then left sitting for more than 10 minutes. The restaurant was busy though, so I was willing to forgive at this point. Once I placed my order I settled in with a book to wait for my food, but again this took at least twice as long as usual, not what you want from an airport location between flights. First time I ever felt lucky that my flight was delayed so I didn't need to worry! I'd ordered the chicken gyoza and chicken chilli ramen, normally two of my favourite things on the menu, which eventually arrived together after my long wait. The ramen is a reasonably simple dish that leans heavily on a depth of flavour in the stock to give it taste, unfortunately it was little more than salty water making the whole thing quite bland. The qyoza were the real disappointment though, the filling had the consistency of a processed chicken nugget and the wrapper on the dumpling was unpleasantly chewy and hard. By the time I'd finished my meal the restaurant had started to empty out but it still took me 5-10 minutes to catch the eye of a server to ask for my bill. It's good noodles but I question the quantity I was given for takeout. Running late, I ordered breakfast noodles to take away while I headed to pick up some electronics needed but left behind. On coming back I was handed my bag and went off to the gate. Opening up the container though, I found it roughly half full of noodles, nothing like what I would get when ordering a meal inside a Wagamama elsewhere. Everybody seems to say that the portions are generous, so maybe it was just a one off. However, it'll make me think twice before heading there again... The noodles themselves were good, bacon, egg and mushroom stir fried with noodles and a topping of fresh tomato. I just would have liked more, especially at the price I paid... read more

This review is for Wagamama Terminal 3, but that doesn't appear anywhere ok Yelp. The food was great and the servers were mostly very diligent, but there is absolutely no system, so it took ages for people to get served and to get their check/bill. It took me four attempts to get my bill, and a 15 minute wait. One of their severs was sort of rude about it and tried to solicit sympathy from another diner who had been waiting longer than I had. None of the servers seemed to know which table was which, so wrong bills went to the wrong tables and wrong orders too. Chaos. Bless all of you who work there and are doing your best. The Wagamama at Heathrow Terminal 5 was actually the first Wagamama I visited. When waiting for my flight in the early afternoon, I did not really want to have a full English breakfast, I did not want to have some pub food just before a flight and so I looked for alternatives, when I noticed Wagamama. Wagamama at Heathrow Terminal 5 is a light an efficient place, just what you need when you want some quality food but do not have too much time. I must admit that I have not tried too many different dishes from the menu, but I think the chicken katsu curry makes a good meal, and if you think you need more, you could get a starter as well. In addition to food, Wagamama also offers an interesting selection of fresh juices. This is perhaps what makes Wagamama stand out most, the juices. Overall, I think Wagamama is definitely one of the best places to eat in Terminal 5. read more

I probably shouldn't have had my first (and now only) Wagamama experience in an airport. It certainly felt like I was being churned through a system rather than having a nice meal. They gave people menus while they waited in the queue, and then expected orders to be placed immediately on being seated. I found the menu a bit confusing but ordered something that sounded reasonable. As I waited, I realised I was surrounded by people either complaining about the food, or having to leave without eating due to needing to catch a flight. When my food arrived, my salmon was incredibly over-cooked to the point of being dry, and the noodles were ... I don't know how to describe it. Gummy/doughy/left a weird kind of feeling/film in my mouth. Minus the salmon, though, the dish as a whole had a nice enough flavour and was satisfying. The portion was also huge. Someone on the table seated next to me asked what I'd eaten as she thought it looked great. As I told her it wasn't great and wouldn't recommend it, our waitress approached and overheard me. Her response was to laugh and walk away. Yeah... ok. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it definitely wasn't one I would repeat. Ever. read more

I'd heard about Wagamama and prior to departing the States, did a bit of research on it. NYC has Republic (just one location in Union Square) which is obviously a Wagamama wanna be---though they refuse to alter their cooking to suit the needs of vegetarians, which, you may've guessed I am! I got up early to fly from Barcelona to London and from there would catch a flight back to NYC---a full day of flying and when I would arrive in NYC, it'd be pretty darn late. As a vegetarian, there are usually very few options when it comes to eating on the road--so I was verrrry excited that Wagamama was there for the eating!!! I had the yasai yaki soba sans onions, shallots, and ginger and my tummy was very happy. I will say that the food was a bit on the salty and oily side, but am not complaining as I know how lucky I am to have had the dish! Staff was very accommodating and friendly! Accessible restaurant. I usually go here in my transit through Heathrow airport. They have one of the best Ramen's in the world and I have traveled at least 1% of the world so I'm the best judge. Seriously though. This ramen is amazing. The service is great and fast and the restaurant is very clean. This is definitely my number one choice for food at Heathrow airport. I'm here several times a year. I never had anything else here but ramen, because "never change the running team". I can only recommend. Don't try the other overpriced, bad food, bad service places. Seriously. We have some good friends who kept raving about this restaurant; so while waiting for our flight, we figured we had to try it. We tried it for breakfast prior to our early flight to Germany. I'm not sure if it was bc of the jet lag or what I ordered, but I wasn't impressed. My husband had the noodles with eggs and it was fine. I had the traditional breakfast and it was fine. Nothing memorable really. Just basic and enough to prevent potential hanger (anger from hunger). We wanted to give it a second chance, so we tried it again prior to our flight back to the US for lunch. This was much better than breakfast but not by much. I had there curry noodle thing and it was tasty, but salty. I wish there were more noodles though. My husband had a traditional ramen bowl, and it was pretty salty as well. All in all, nothing too amazing about the food. Ambience wise, the bench communal settings remind me of how ramen restaurants are usually set up, and its location in the airport provides a lot of visual stimuli. I doubt I'll go back to this place again mostly bc the food was underwhelming, despite the location is in a bustling, entertaining location. read more

The spicy ramen and ginger beer was great but today seemed like they were very unstaffed. The waiter even commented to me and another customer that Saturday's are always busy and they never have enough help. Nice to know but maybe you should tell the management that schedules the shifts or tell their boss to fit it. Plan on taking at least an hour to complete your meal from beginning to end. This was my first and hopefully last Wagama experience. We stopped there recently while in transit back to the U.S. Our biggest mistake was to go in there thinking we would get Japanese food. If you have never been to Japan or places that serve real Japanese food like in LA, you might find this place acceptable. They didn't have udon on the menu but the waitress said no problem you can order udon in place of the soba or ramen. So my wife ordered the udon in place of soba. I tasted it too. It tasted like yaki-udon thrown into some pseudo-ramen soup stock. Not good. The ramen I had was edible. I think I can confidently say that it was better than the instant ramen one could purchase at an asian food store. But given the price differential, I'd actually have preferred the instant version. I ended up with a $45 bill for two mini ramens, one ramen and one udon, ouch. We should have waited the couple of hours until dinner was served on the plane back to the U.S. Or found some snack somewhere to tide us over. High prices and poor imitation of Japanese food. Definitely not worth it. I almost gave it one star but I would eat there again if I were desperate. read more

While it is better than most airport food, it is still pretty bad. I had the spicy ramen which was bland and unoriginal. The broth had zero flavor. My ramen was basically the same as having a bowl of warm water with noodles and a couple chili peppers thrown into bowl. It was beyond boring. Not to mention the service was subpar. My waitress worked very hard to up sell me the whole time, but failed to refill my drink once. Then when it came to pay the bill she hovered over my shoulder to see what I was going to tip her. Given my ramen addiction (amongst other vices), I was strongly urged to check out Wagamama whilst in London (although I later realized that there are actually a few outposts stateside in Boston). I finally got the chance to check it out in the Heathrow Airport, and Wagamama fell somewhat short of expectations. The design of the space was fun with cafeteria style seating and bright graphics. The service was extremely attentive and my many waiters spent a fair amount of time and energy describing the various dishes in detail and giving recommendations. We settled on the Wagamama Ramen, the Ebi Katsu, Green Tea and the Coconut Ice Cream. The latter three were great, but the crucial standard by which all noodle shops must be judged, the house ramen, was sadly lacking. It is my experience that menu items with the restaurant name incorporated into the item name are always exceptional. Wagamama Ramen ($7.95) proved me sadly wrong. The broth was bland, the noodles were soggy and the ingredients did not seem harmonious and cohesive. I wound up requesting salt and chili pepper to make the broth more drinkable and skipped the noodles altogether. The Ebi Katsu ($6.10) was delightfully crispy and much better than the ramen. I ate all the shrimps and enjoyed them immensely. The Green Tea was complimentary and refills were timely. I really appreciate that in a restaurant. The Coconut Ice Cream ($1.10) was delightfully creamy. I was grateful that they looked out for my health and let me have a 1-scoop serving as 3-scoops would have been way too much! The coconut flavor was really great and there were little chunks of coconut in the ice cream. It was a great end to the meal and largely made up for my disappointment with the ramen. PARTING THOUGHT: This was only one location of the larger chain. Perhaps it was an off day for the broth. I cannot imagine that Wagamama would have cultivated so many rabid fans without a better ramen. Perhaps I will give them another chance in the future. read more

All in all a quality breakfast at the airport. Fresh juice and free green tea were the highlight. I ordered the pastrami hash and it was quality but nothing special. The place is rather unorganized though. We walked up and there was no obvious place to wait for a table, no signs, given the style of restaurant, we thought that maybe we were supposed to seat ourselves, but it seems that was wrong. We had 3 different staff walk by and tell us that they would be with us shortly and eventually one followed through on the promise. Service had to be flagged down for everything, no one ever checked up on the table; drinks went empty and the check took forever to pay. They also messed up my order and I didn't get a replacement until the rest of my party was already done eating. Since you have a different server for everything there really isn't any ownership of the dining experience. good enough for airport food, but nothing more. read more

A nice surprise in Heathrow and offering trendy, Asian-fusion entrees. I chose a ginger beef salad that was a little on the bland side, but featured lots of greens and beef. I paid just over 10 pounds sterling for the salad, which yes, is a bit pricy, but it IS London after all. The restaurant is certainly easy on the eyes, located in the recently redone Terminal 5 and boasting lots of glass, light, and dark wood. Our server was polite with a wee bit of Brit cheekiness and the accent that is so appreciated by us over the pond. :) read more

I waited a few extra minutes for a window side table which I requested as I wanted to watch the planes come and go at the gates. Service was quick and friendly and food arrived in no time. I had the duck noodle soup which was delicious and filling. Topped it up with a Tiger beer from Singapore and I was a happy traveler. That said, it's nice to have something other than sandwiches and salads available before a long (LONG) international flight and Wagamama is the place to go. Oh man. The best friend and I had such an embarrassing struggle here. We were glad to see a Wagamama in the airport since we were both craving noodles. Headed over and they let you sub in noodles (yay) so we subbed udon noodles in rather than ramen noodles and both ordered a chicken ramen with udon noodles. Noodles were decent. A bit on the salty side for me. It was pretty simple and was pretty much just a standard bowl of noodles... that were just really really expensive. We forgot that England was on the pound... and paid with Euros, which they took. But when we go the change back, we realized the mistake we had made... so basically we ended up paying over 30USD for two okay bowls of noodles? I'm really happy about having stopped here in Heathrow. This will forever be my go to place in heathrow airport for sit down food. (FYI for not sit down, PRET does some seriously solid to go stuff) So the ramen has great bang for buck, especially for airport food. Yummy pork. A lot of fixins. Delicious, for airport food. I was pretty satisfied, which is not something I usually say during the traveling part of traveling. I think I may have been the only person ever to order the agedashi tofu, so I dont blame it for sucking, but it really did suck. I wouldn't order it again, I'd go for a more mainstream appetizer, cause I think they might do those pretty well. Fast, good, Japanese and fairly inexpensive. Good stop in Heathrow for the hungry traveler, if you have 30 min or more. I had Udon noodles, and they were very good - way above your average airport food at least. I wouldn't compare it to the best Japanese restaurants on the planet, but it is decent. The staff is very friendly and understands the need for speed. Nice touches: the green tea is free, and there are a lot of tiny sides for one pound. I had the Japanese pickles (3 kinds of veggie), which was a nice addition to my meal. I would definitely recommend it. read more

Service could be a bit faster, especially if you're already stressed about catching a flight or going to another terminal. We found ourselves with some time before our flight and we were hungry, so Wagamama hit the spot! :-) After spending almost 2 weeks in Spain eating bread, tapas, and jamon iberico, it was a welcomed change to find a Japanese noodle restaurant at the airport....quite a difference from the McD's and Cinnabons in the states. We had the Kedgeree which is a curry rice w/ smoked haddock, onion, and egg...very yummy. Given it was cold and rainy in London, I went for the itame kare which is a cococut based noodle soup with lemon grass, bok choi, onion, peppers and mushroom w/ stir fried chicken. I had to take it to go since it was too hot to eat & we had to head to our gate. But I really enjoyed it on the plane prior to take off. I would definitely come here again to explore the menu further if I find myself at Heathrow again. read more

Solid asian cuisine, but nothing to write home to mom about. The soup dishes are fun and inventive, but lacking in flavor until you load up the soy sauce and spices. I would recommend the prawn lollipop starter - that was my favorite and the winner of our dishes. They have a nice tea as well - the vanilla grapefruit was delightful. I was hungry for something different... after my long flight from Los Angeles, on my way to Barcelona - I decided that something warm and noodle-y was the way to go. There is no shortage of food options at this terminal at LHR, and it was kinda hard to decide. Service was prompt and efficient (with the traveler in mind) but could have been a little more amiable... I'd never heard of this chain, didn't know what their best dishes were, a little guidance from the server would have been appreciated. As for the soup... well, it's ramen at an airport. my expectations weren't too high. and the prices - 9 BPS for a bowl of soup? eek! $9 for Ramen at Daikokuya in LA is a good price.
