It was a day out with family and we ended up in front of Wagamama at Uxbridge. Kids had already had their happy meals which meant that we could go in and not worry too much about the kids. We went in and were seated immediately by a friendly staff. Drinks and starters orders were taken quickly but had to request for activity books for the kids. Food arrived pretty quick - some Gyoza (Veg) which was not great and Tori Kara Age the Chicken Fry which was as usual. For mains I normally order their firecracker chicken but for a change I had a Ginger Chicken Udon and Mrs had a Veg Donburi. Food came piping hot. The ginger chicken udon was delicately flavoured and I enjoyed it very much. Food and quantity wise it's not 'great' but we enjoyed our lunch experience as the food was hot, ambience was nice and relaxed and the staff were super friendly. Three course meal with drinks for two around £45 which was slightly pricey for the quality and quantity but don't have any other complaints, Will go again if we end up at Intu Uxbridge and get a craving for some Japanese!

So my initial challenge was to find a place to have a nice dinner as I didn't know the area. So a lot may have changed since my visit, but I believe this was a well deserved rating as the ambiance was quiet, and quaint. The service was good and the food was definitely satisfying, as I was craving some Japanese food. If I'm ever in the area again, and craving Japanese food, I'd go back. So enjoy and I hope the quality is just as good as when I was there.

This says more about Maidenhead than it does about Miyazaki. Although the restaurant had mostly empty tables I was offered a table that they'd need within about 80 minutes. "No problem" I thought, along with "where is this crowd they're expecting"? Eighty minutes later and it was obvious they were truthful. This is Maidenhead's "hot" restaurant. With a sushi menu stretching all the way from tuna to salmon and back again (!) it's fair to say that the selection of raw fish here doesn't go deep or extensive. Does Hamachi even make its way to the UK? I never saw it on a menu once. Miyazaki does offer salmon nigiri both raw and lightly torched and that's about as exotic as things get. What they do they do well enough and certainly well enough for the area. If you're in Maidenhead you might as well make a reservation to dine at Miyazaki. It's not the only restaurant in town but I think it might be best one.

The Teppanyaki chefs are very talented and put on a real show for you while cooking the food. They also serve Sushi, Sashimi and Yakitori. I am lucky enough to have eaten Japanese food in Tokyo so the bar is set quite high fo me in terms of quality and authenticity. While this restaurant appears to be Chinese run rather than Japanese, the food still tastes authentic and the experience is very worthwhile. The Sake is great too, especially warm. Highly recommended, only loses one star for the prices.

In addition to preparing the food he flourishes his tools, juggles with some of the implements and even (optionally) threw the bowls fried rice to the customers! Somehow everyone I saw trying this managed to catch it, which was a relief. For starters we had Chicken Yakitori (chicken on skewers with leek and yakitori sauce), Harumaki (deep fried Japanese spring rolls) and Prawn Tempura: these varied from £4-5.50 per portion and I'd suggest one or two each as the dishes are small but tasty. We didn't try the Sushi, Makimono, Temaki or Sahimi, although some of the others at the shared table did and it looked nicely presented. For the mains (£10-17) we went with Traditional Teppanyaki: this is the food that the chef prepares in front of you on the hot plate. This is safe, but I don't think it would be a good idea for very young children. We had Tuna filet steak seared and served with teriyaki sauce and chopped pickled ginger; Scottish sirloin Hibachi Steak which was served to order, in our case rare. The steak and teriyaki sauce was lovely, the tuna was very nice but a little overcooked to our tastes. This was accompanied by egg fried rice with chicken at the start (£4.00), fried mushrooms and bean sprouts at the end (included in the cost). Everything was nicely cooked and very tasty. We had a bottle of Australian Merlot, which was good value at under £15. The food was good value, the staff were helpful and polite, and there is a reasonable amount of parking outside. Highly recommended.

In fact, Surrey as a whole doesn't have a foodie feel, unlike areas west of London like Berkshire, which is full of Michelin starred establishments. So, I was very excited to see Makiyaki's sign over the door of this restaurant site. This had housed Oliver's in the past, one of my favourite restaurants in Epsom which sadly closed. A Japanese restaurant is certainly a novelty in this part of Surrey and they've opened in Epsom's own restaurant row area of South Street.. Makiyaki will however be able to draw on the experience of their established sister restaurant of the same name in south Wimbledon. They've initially opened up just the ground floor, going with a modern theme, complete with jazz music. The menu leans strongly towards sushi with half the menu dominated by a great variety of rolls, all complete with photo. There are cooked options for the squeamish as well as the traditional raw fish. You'll also find Japanese stalwarts on the menu as well as the occasional Asian interloper like Korean bulgogi. My starter of chicken karaage came as about 10 moist bite size bits of chicken in crispy seasoned batter served with sweet chilli dipping sauce. It's easy to dry out this dish but this was an excellent version. For main, I went for the special sashimi set. This started off with a bowl of miso soup and some Japanese salad, which was covered in a moreish dressing. Then, the piece de resistance. A beautifully presented slab on which was placed 3 very generous slices each of salmon, tuna, yellowtail and sea bass as well as 3 slices of California roll. A little hill of gari (pickled ginger to clean your palate between mouthfuls) and wasabi completed the plate. The glistening look and clean smell of the fish revealed its first class sourcing and it was lovely to chew and savour each thick slice. The pricing, as for most Japanese food, isn't cheap but for this quality, it's value for money. The food is also available for takeaway. The presence of a Japanese restaurant in the heart of Surrey brings a big smile to my face. Is Epsom ready for raw fish? I certainly hope so!

Easy to get to from the handy dandy Yelp directions. As the rest of England, your tricky bit will be parking. There's limited parking in front, on the street. There's also a huge lot 3 mins away on the back side of the locale. Pay by phone on the ringo app. The place is small but the tables were place strategically as to maximize their space without feeling crowded. Pleasant atmosphere and everyone seem to be enjoying their meal. We ordered some crunchy gyoza, spider rolls and yakiniku to start. The gyoza were crunchy without being hard. The spicy Mayo on it gave it that extra yummy oomph. So good but my husband did wish it came with some gyoza sauce on the side Their spider rolls were ok. They needed a little bit more of salty. They were on the blend side. The yakiniku were SO good. Beef was cooked perfectly and the sauce on it was so delish. I wish I had ordered two more skewers. The mains were Salmon teriyaki don and chicken don. I enjoyed my salmon to the very last bit. Served with salad and on a bed of rice. Great seasoning and nicely cooked. Simplicity of a dish but so satisfying. My husband did like his dish but contrary to what I think, his dish was a bit on the salty side. The girl helping us was flying solo but was attentive and friendly throughout the whole visit.
