The food options at Terminal 5 were limited and all the sit down restaurants I passed had waits. I didn't want to risk a long time to eat when I had a flight and I didn't want to just grab a sandwich sitting on a shelf for who knows how longs at one of the shops. So a good medium solution: itsu. Hot food quickly when you need a meal but are conscious of time. I got a thing of sushi and thought it was fine. It's better than I expected for an airport, so I was happy. It was nicely packaged. My husband got a noodle soup and it was nice and hot and chock full of meet and veggies and was very filling for not too high a cost (again, it's an airport, things are going to cost more than on the outside). We finished the meal with a pair of mochi which was a nice little sweet bite. There were chargers at the tables but the ones near me didn't work. I saw other people charging though, so that's a bit hit or miss. For the other options in the terminal, I think this was a good balance of speed, taste, and cost.

I was looking for a quick bite and some charging on my layover in LHA. I stumbled upon Itsu and was very pleasantly surprised. Excellent healthy choices, nice selection for vegetarians. As a vegetarian, that is very important to me. The 2 quinoa-falafel and veg rice bowl is nice. Perfect amount of spice, probably a bit heavy handed on the portion of rice. 3 falafels for that amount of rice would be preferable. Hot gyoza dumplings are worth the splurge. I heard the cashier mention everything is fresh and regularly rotated out every few hours. Takes away the fear of airport food! My meal including a Pellegrino was about £10 so definitely on the pricier side. Especially considering I'm watching the "big family cooking showdown" on Netflix and they are feeding 4 people for £10. Edit:realizes they charge you more to stay and sit in their area. Probably would've been better off taking to go, but now that I've paid more to stay here I'm going to charge every device I own hahaha.

Early Wednesday morning, needed a spot for a quick breakfast in the terminal. Not too bad of a line here and lots of seating with USB charging ports for your phone/accessories. Went the healthy route and ordered the Blueberry Boost Porridge (£3.49) and a bottled juice (£2?). Porridge comes out quickly; a warming, semi-sweet oatmeal with several blueberries on top. Surprisingly balanced, not bland at at all. Juice is a blend of berries and oranges, a little on the small side but didn't need a large portion. For airport food, not bad at all. Not sure about their lunch options but the breakfast is solid.

A decent place in Heathrow to have a quick sort of healthy meal before a flight. They have a pretty good selection of prepared sushi trays to go. They charge you more to eat at the tables there. Your better off getting it to go. There are some counters right in front where you can sit, eat, and recharge any electrical items.

I eat here whenever I come to Heathrow as I quite like the Itsu chain for their healthy and convenient Japanese style food. Although it's not like one of those hard core authentic (and usually expensive) Japanese restaurants, it does a healthy take on Japanese food and combines a few Western ingredients such as Avocado and does low carb salads so it's great for something less heavy before a flight. They have various sushi bento boxes, salad boxes such as Tuna sashimi salad, edamame, sashimi etc. However, if you are looking for real "Asian" food, you will not find it here as this a very Westernised take on Japanese food combined with the latest health trends. For those who prefer hot food, they have some great brown rice bowls and soups too, although I found the soup to be a bit too salty. My mum had one of the curry brown rice bowls and found it to be pretty good and quite filling. The prices are decent enough, not overly expensive but not super cheap either. Most things are around or less than £10 though. The service was ok, although they forgot to make my coffee so I actually had to go up and remind them about it. They have a nice selection of smoothies and drinks plus a cute panda shaped bento for kids. The portions are perfectly sized; not too big and not too small. In terms of freshness, it's hard to judge as everything is in the fridge and you just pick out what you want. I saw then restocking it a few times, so I suspect it would be reasonably fresh. Overall: Healthy and convenient Japanese-ish style food that won't make your wallet cry. Food: 3/5 Convenience: 5/5 Prices: Reasonable Variety: 5/5 Service: 3/5 Seating: 4/5

Me and my husband stopped here for a quick bite before our next flight. They have pre made dishes. Nice open seating.

Ok, I admit I know nothing about Japanese food, but... for someone who knows nothing, I thought my food was great. I'm not even sure what I purchased. A soup with dumplings, lentil, noodles... really tasty. It was ready quickly. Service was fine. Location in Terminal 5 actually felt like a quiet spot, even on a very busy summer travel day. There were places to sit and charge phones. Compared to the other venues in the very busy terminal, this place really struck my fancy. Prices were fine. All of that combines to a solid recommendation.

It's all been said and Itsu helps you connect with your normal self while waiting for your plance from Terminal 5. It's also a fantastic place to hang out with pilots, if that's your thing ... 6 passed through as I was munching my way through my favourite sushi selection!

Excellent choice of healthy and not too heavy meals, drinks and fruits. Wish more of this kind of eateries will pop up at all airports which usually it's hard to find decent food

Favorite place in London Heathrow to grab a quick bite to go. Fresh, healthy, and fast!

Got the chicken&rice bowl and it was definitely the worst "Asian" food I've ever had in my whole life...

You sit at communal tables without backs (which isn't the most comfy), but the menu is extensive and healthy. We ordered teriyaki noodles and yakisoba noodles with shrimp, and both were good. They were very mildly spiced, though, and we both needed the seasoning spice that was on the table. I guess I was expecting more authentic and bold flavors, but this is very, very mild (perfect for fussy eaters and kids). PROS: * free hot green tea * scan a QR code to pay so no need to wait around for a slow server * plenty of healthy, vegetarian, and vegan food options * good cocktail menu for a pre-flight tipple * chopsticks, forks, and sauces on every table CONS: * service is mostly nonexistent; a server will take your order and deliver your food, but you won't see them again after that. * the kitchen is slow, so allow around 30 minutes to get your food (a real problem if you're in a rush to catch a flight) * uncomfortable picnic style, communal seating I would probably eat here again the next time I'm flying out of Heathrow, especially because there aren't many other sit down options in Terminal 3.

So my initial challenge was to find a place to have a nice dinner as I didn't know the area. So a lot may have changed since my visit, but I believe this was a well deserved rating as the ambiance was quiet, and quaint. The service was good and the food was definitely satisfying, as I was craving some Japanese food. If I'm ever in the area again, and craving Japanese food, I'd go back. So enjoy and I hope the quality is just as good as when I was there.

This says more about Maidenhead than it does about Miyazaki. Although the restaurant had mostly empty tables I was offered a table that they'd need within about 80 minutes. "No problem" I thought, along with "where is this crowd they're expecting"? Eighty minutes later and it was obvious they were truthful. This is Maidenhead's "hot" restaurant. With a sushi menu stretching all the way from tuna to salmon and back again (!) it's fair to say that the selection of raw fish here doesn't go deep or extensive. Does Hamachi even make its way to the UK? I never saw it on a menu once. Miyazaki does offer salmon nigiri both raw and lightly torched and that's about as exotic as things get. What they do they do well enough and certainly well enough for the area. If you're in Maidenhead you might as well make a reservation to dine at Miyazaki. It's not the only restaurant in town but I think it might be best one.

In fact, Surrey as a whole doesn't have a foodie feel, unlike areas west of London like Berkshire, which is full of Michelin starred establishments. So, I was very excited to see Makiyaki's sign over the door of this restaurant site. This had housed Oliver's in the past, one of my favourite restaurants in Epsom which sadly closed. A Japanese restaurant is certainly a novelty in this part of Surrey and they've opened in Epsom's own restaurant row area of South Street.. Makiyaki will however be able to draw on the experience of their established sister restaurant of the same name in south Wimbledon. They've initially opened up just the ground floor, going with a modern theme, complete with jazz music. The menu leans strongly towards sushi with half the menu dominated by a great variety of rolls, all complete with photo. There are cooked options for the squeamish as well as the traditional raw fish. You'll also find Japanese stalwarts on the menu as well as the occasional Asian interloper like Korean bulgogi. My starter of chicken karaage came as about 10 moist bite size bits of chicken in crispy seasoned batter served with sweet chilli dipping sauce. It's easy to dry out this dish but this was an excellent version. For main, I went for the special sashimi set. This started off with a bowl of miso soup and some Japanese salad, which was covered in a moreish dressing. Then, the piece de resistance. A beautifully presented slab on which was placed 3 very generous slices each of salmon, tuna, yellowtail and sea bass as well as 3 slices of California roll. A little hill of gari (pickled ginger to clean your palate between mouthfuls) and wasabi completed the plate. The glistening look and clean smell of the fish revealed its first class sourcing and it was lovely to chew and savour each thick slice. The pricing, as for most Japanese food, isn't cheap but for this quality, it's value for money. The food is also available for takeaway. The presence of a Japanese restaurant in the heart of Surrey brings a big smile to my face. Is Epsom ready for raw fish? I certainly hope so!
