I saw a lot of people on YouTube come here and it's definitely worth a try if you're in London. Plan a head because it is a popular spot so there will a wait. The restaurant is bigger than your typical sushi restaurants though. The service was okay and the restaurant was clean. The sushi was really good for the price though! I would go back and definitely recommend this spot if anyone is looking for sushi in London.

Always reliable for a good meal. Even the fried oysters were tasty and I don't like oysters.

Seriously for the chicken wings alone I'd have given it 5 stars, let alone everything else was also perfect. My only complaint is that it can be way too pricy for what you get, for that I took 1 star off.

There's always a long line outside of this shop and once you try it, it makes sense why. This Japanese restaurant offers a ton of Japanese dishes in huge portion sizes, at an affordable cost. The rolls we ordered were especially delicious, and the chirashi was especially fantastic. Would recommend you to arrive 15-30 minutes before the shop opens to get a spot in line, especially during lunch time when it gets really busy.

Nice address discovered thanks to my Japanese colleagues! Luckily, we made a reservation because this place is really popular and can get pretty crowded! We ordered different meals to share: maki roll, gyozas, Kimchi buta nikku, vegetables, karaage... Everything was good and authentic! Also, after that I ate a gyudon, amazing! It was not the same taste than in Japan but it was good. I recommend this place if you are looking for good, authentic and not too expensive Japanese food.

Good Japanese food! Came here with friends and the reservations got us in, which was great! We got the chicken and salmon bento, fried chicken, spider roll and a special roll. We also got some sashimi. The rolls were good, fresh and tasty ingridenys. The bento was of large portions and we enjoyed it. The fried chicken wasn't very good but the sashimi was good. Overall a very good experience!

This branch of Eat Tokyo is always consistently fantastic in terms of food quality - I've never been disappointed so far. The portion sizes are insanely huge and the prices are very cheap relative to how much food they give you, which is always great because 2 people can easily share one of their dishes and have some left over to spare! Their double size chicken katsu curry is humongous, easily feeds 2-3 people and is only £9! They have such a large selection of foods on their menu that you'd be forgiven for sitting there for an hour just choosing! My favourite is the katsudon pork cutlet rice! They have x2 pork cutlets which are crispy and soft, the egg and rice are so flavoursome too! Amazing starters aswell - my go to are the soft shell crab and fried chicken! This place hasn't disappointed so far, and I go regularly, it's fantastic for amazing quality tasty food - the 1 big downside though is definitely the queue time - expect to wait at least 40 minutes to an hour on most evenings, especially weekends. There's ALWAYS a long queue lined across the street.

Chicken katsu curry is massive! £9 ~

I always come here. Great authentic Japanese food for an amazing price. Normally, I order the large chicken katsu curry , which is around £9. Literally bigger than an average persons head. I never finish it and always end up taking away the leftovers. The wait for a table is around 40mins but it's worth it. Staff are lovely and very attentive! The waiting in the line flys by if you are with a group of friends so it's not too bad. EAT Tokyo will always be my staple go to restaurant in London for Japanese cravings

Sushi platter, not very substantial for a big eater like myself but still good

This place had cheap food that tasted 3 times it's value elsewhere. It's one of those gems that I feel bad exposing it to the world but I realise it's pretty popular in the Soho area anyways so it doesn't matter. Bento boxes are a must-try and so is their whole crab (which cost only £7)!!! Had a wonderful experience with the food coupled with some funny posters I saw in the loos! However, this place was packed before and after we finished dining and servers kept coming to our table to check if they could take our empty plates away as a strategy to free up the table as quickly as possible. But servers were polite in times of rush so props to them

Great pre-theatre dinner. Fresh sushi! The menu is HUGE, but everything has a photo so it's so easy to find something that you'll love. The Tokyo dragon roll was fantastic. So much flavor. Even if you're not a raw fish fan they have plenty of other options! Definitely a great sushi bar!

Huge portions, authentic feel and delicious food; this is a great place for fans of Japanese food. I went there with a big group and while there is a lot of space to accommodate that it is best to book in advance just in case. As soon as we got in and say down the staff, all dressed in traditional kimonos, gave us the the menus and some tap water. I chose one of the bento boxes that came with chicken, salmon, some extra fish pieces, salad, rice and miso soup. Everything was delicious to the point I really can't pick a favourite and for £15 that is costs you really get to eat a lot of food to fill you up. I have been telling everybody about it because I think it's a great place for Japanese food and you should definitely go there! In fact just go book right now, you know you want to. :)

Expect a wait during dinner hours but we were seated quickly within 20 minutes for a table of two. The restaurant's atmosphere was bustling and waiters really don't have the time to serve your every need so be prepared to just ask for what you want. You'll get amazing Japanese food for the price, especially for Soho in London. Definitely worth the portion and value. Their extensive menu can be overwhelming but their chef's special rolls are worth a try. I would also recommend the udon as the broth is incredibly flavourful.

This is my first time going to an Eat Tokyo branch that's not been Holborn but I had originally been to this chain many times before and the food has always been excellent. So far, I would like to say that this branch was better than Holborn in every respect in terms of food, atmosphere and definitely staff friendliness. The main waiter who served us was someone I knew previously at Holborn Eat Tokyo, Kim, but as I understand it, he's mainly based at Old Compton. I only saw Kim once at Holborn at that experience was much better than the others at that particular branch. Kim even remembered us from before which we were all delighted about as we spoke very highly of him last time. You'll be very lucky if you have him serve you as he's always very funny and very helpful with recommending such orders to you. As an additional bonus point, he even sang the birthday song with us for one of my friend's birthday which I should commend him for great singing. Eat Tokyo were able to accommodate a birthday cake and we were not rushed to eat our food at all - no set time limit given to us even on a Saturday night unlike Holborn! The food was delicious as always - I, whilst opting for a more Chinese-styled dinner (I don't eat seafood so I was stuck for choices but that's my own problem, not the restaurant) rather than authentic Japanese, still thought the food was an amazing. I ordered chili egg plant, mince pork and rice (Mabo-nasu), a great option if you like spicy food and have seafood allergies. The spice was excellent but not enough even if I had asked for extra chilli - that's not their problem though because my chilli intake is very high. A friend of mine actually thought it was too much spice in contrast. Note that the additional chilli cost me £1.50. I also ordered 6 vegetable spring rolls (Harumaki) which was cheap at £2.50 - unfortunately, my friends were quick to help themselves that I didn't get a picture. These were crispy and just perfect, faultless. My friend's dishes were all delicious I am told - My only slight gripe was that the kitchen served a fish dish to one of my friends food when he asked for no-fish as he's a vegetarian. This was quickly resolved so no problems. I most definitely will be back again at the Compton branch and I think I'll pass on the Holborn one from now on where the service is not comparable even if the food is the same - I remember the last time I organized a birth cake cake at Holborn Eat Tokyo, one of the staff members actually brought out the cake in the bag and ruined the surprise, which annoyed me. Note that this is not a reflection on Kim as he wasn't there on that occasion. As always, I'll post up the photographs of the food that we enjoyed.

Generally good service and ambiance. Grilled salty mackerel is very good, as is their crispy soft shell crab (a classic dish). Calamari is excellent though be warned: it's spicy! A little hidden away, but definitely worth the descent into the catacomb-like interior…read more The vibe is intimate and the food is a legit take on Asian Fusion; mostly Japanese-inspired, but definitely with a bit of Chinese and Thai in there. The starters alone are worth a trip, and there were so many I wanted to try, they're actually all I had. Don't judge. They were amazing. The Pumpkin Croquettes were a slightly sweet and crispy version of traditional croquettes, deep-fried to perfection, with a light and smooth finish. Two will set you back a mere £3.10. While the spring rolls are good, I highly recommend the Vegetarian Duck Rolls, made with slightly sweet tofu skin, spring onions, cucumber, and Hoi Sin sauce. Three of those healthy rolls are a whopping £4.60. Finally, the Chicken Yakitori was also a dish worth it's weight in pounds, char-grilled to perfection and doused in a sweet yakitori sauce. A few skewers costs around £4.10. The rest of the menu is not only enormous, but sure to please any seafood-lover, especially sushi. They serve just about any Asian-inspired dish you can think of, including salads, ramen dishes, rice dishes, noodles of many different varieties, tempura, and sushi rolls, with a perfectly-paired sake menu to boot. But really, those side dishes are to die for.

Thanks to Katie B for stepping in as interim Yelp Ramen Club organiser in Josy A's absence…read more Ramen Club 8.0 took place at Ribon and Katie went to great lengths to make our booking and also to make sure that they had ramen available - for large parties, it's best to warn them as they only make a limited amount of broth each day When you get to the restaurant, don't be put off by the fact that the ground floor looks shut because it is shut! Descend the stairs to the subterranean dining room. Our party of 15 took over most of the main dining area though there are private rooms, which also offer karaoke The starters were my favourite part of the meal with the black cod and chicken karaage being top of my list even though the portion size was tiny for the cost. As far as ridiculous prices go though, I think my glass of orange juice from a carton for £3.30 was criminal - I can get 2 litres of Tropicana for less. Other starters like the pork and kimchi were rather bland The ramen was a disappointment. The broth was rather bland and the chashu was dry. Perhaps in keeping with the rather mean attitude to the volume of food served, there was no egg. In an age when Bone Daddies and other ramen joints in London have raised the bar, bowls like this won't cut it any longer It was a really fun evening but the food wasn't up to scratch, especially the ramen. Roll on, Ramen Club 9.0!

Thank you Katie B for being a star and getting such a huge crowd of us involved in ramen club!!…read moreRibon was a strange ramen experience...ramen is only listed as a side note on the specials menu, but after seeing a photo of their ramen in the magazine "zoom Japan", I was keen to try it. Ramen: The miso soup was really good; hot and delicious... BUT my noodles seemed like over-cooked, squidgy cup-ramen noodles. I liked the toppings, but I was sad not to have an egg, and the cha siu was forgettable. So all in all the ramen isn't as good as many of the other ramen-joy-lands in London. Plus they took aaaaages to make, even though Katie had told them in advance that we would order lots of noodles. Izakaya menu: We also tried the agedashi dofu (really nice, but without much dashi!), the karaage and the gyoza. They were all lovely, and the general izakaya menu sounded full of tasty dishes. I'd be up for trying more of them. Other: A group of my friends from Japan have been here several times, and they all really liked it... so I know this place could be amazing. I'll have to come back to try non-noodle items, and to have a sing in their karaoke booth.

For his birthday, my friend's only wish was to come here for an omakase and I cannot stop thinking…read moreabout it! I had to make about 200 calls to get a reservation but it was worth it. There are two sittings for omakase each day, one at 5:30PM and one at 8:30PM. The interior is very intimate and each sitting serves 7 people only. Bookings are made at least two weeks to one month in advance depending on their policy which changes from time to time. They only accept reservations through phone calls and based on my experience, it was pretty hard to get through so I'd definitely recommend reading through their website for what to do to secure yourself a reservation. My friend and I both got the sushi & sashimi omakase, which comes with three plates of sashimi, 7 pieces of sushi (all seasonally selected!) and a sweet tamago at the end. The sashimi and sushi are all seasonally selected and exotic! I got to try gurnard and turbot sushi which I've never had raw before! The fish is not only high quality and delicious but prepped and presented beautifully too. The variety of condiments selected for each sushi was carefully thought out, elevating each mouthful. The service was impeccable as was the food. The chef's wife and the waiters always came to check-in with us and walk us through the proper dining etiquette. Under the chef's wife's recommendation, we also shared some sake and plum wine. It was lovely watching the chef prep and make each piece of sushi, exhibiting his intent and passion with every movement. The whole session lasted a little over 2 hours and we enjoyed every bit of it! I highly recommend checking out Sushi Tetsu at least once in your life! Not to mention the omakase was only for £96 (excluding alcohol and any service charge), which is cheap for the amount of food you get and cheaper than many other omakase meals found in London.

Ambience was very cozy and intimate. Maximum seating of seven seats, hence very difficult to get a spot. Felt like I was in a local restaurant in the heart of Tokyo. Perfect for an intimate date or professional meal. Service was also top notch.
