This is a good inexpensive place for lunch. It was near to our hotel so we tried it out. They mainly serve cooked food including some rice dishes as well as ramen. My katsu curry was good, same goes for the ramen and the deep fried chicken. Setting is simple, service attentive and friendly. Give it a try if you'r in this area.

Mediocre food, not worth visiting again. The shop is not that big, from where I was sat at, I could hear some sort of singing bar from the next shop through the wall. Environment wise it's good for the summer tho - they have air con. The ramen was very disappointing, only mediocre, the free salad came with it was simple but refreshing and nice. Service was fast and helpful but because of the food, it is not a place worth a hide to visit again.

CoCoRo, as others have said, is the sister restaurant of the other Cocoro in Marlybone. This branch focuses primarily on curry and ramen, though they also have a massive menu of sushi and other Japanese usuals. In my opinion, this place would be better served by focusing on the cheaper foods, curry and ramen, and not offering such a full menu, cutting food costs and then knocking a pound or so off each dish's price... but that's just me. The decor is similar to the other one. Rather sterile and uninspired. But let's be honest, its the food that really matters. For my first visit, I had the spicy miso ramen. The ramen, I would say, was up to par with the ramen in the other Cocoro-- not my favourite in London, but really tasty if not a wee bit expensive. Their noodles, however, are probably the best of my other favourites (Bone Daddies and Ittenbari) with perfect bite and chewiness to them. Really nice. I got the lunch set which included ramen, a small salad, and a choice of a small dish. I had a hand roll, which was basically just a California roll. Not bad, but forgettable. This was all for around £13 or so if I remember correctly. For an additional... £3.50 maybe? I had a delicious Yuzu Honey Tea. On the sweet side, but really refreshing for a hot drink. My dining partner's small dish was Karaage Chicken, which was quite tasty. Next time, I'd get that. I look forward to coming back to try to curry! I wish this were a more inventive review, but alas. Perhaps this is just CoCoRo. Solid, tasty, and a place I am happy to patronise on a regular basis, but not awe inspiring in either food or value.

Wooooah. I thought I should update my review as I went back to try the ramen, and it was GORGEOUS! It is just as good as the old CoCoRo (CoCoLeBone as Rob says) but a bit cheaper. Yum.

Beef curry. Very dry beef, I DO NOT reccomend

Mediocre food at best. Beef curry was more like grilled pieces of steak with sauce on the side. 4 stars for their shrimp tempura! 3 star for the spicy miso, would have liked some fresh scallions added to top it off with . Given a layer of freshness

Slightly better than average Japanese food near Holborn Station. I came here purposely for the ramen and chicken katsu curry, so happy I found a restaurant that serves both a howl of Tonkotsu and Curry! The atmosphere of this restaurant is just so so, there were a lot of Japanese business men inside eating ramen, always a good sign right? The restaurant interior itself is not good at all. You can tell almost no effort was put into the restaurant to make it feel authentic or even Japanese at all. It's just a white room with tables and chairs, with very basic lighting, nothing to make you feel like you're in a cool restaurant.. For me a good interior helps the overall dining experience. Finally, my Tonkotsu Ramen and Chicken Katsu Curry both were nice but nothing really out of the ordinary. I also orded Spider Roll (softshell crab sushi roll) and Takoyaki. I can't fault the food for being bad, it tasted good and satisfied me. The Takoyaki were definitely the best I have had in London, lots of big pieces of octopus inside. Overall, the restaurant is kinda same same and Eat Tokyo so I probably wouldn't make an effort to go back unless I was craving a Japanese curry. Their Marylebone branch is definitely better.

Ramen was great. We came right at 12 and no one was here it was fast and delicious. A must for ramen lovers! Yummy yummy yum! We also has green tea and edamame. The edamame was just ok . a few pieces were cold.

Cocoro's new branch off New Oxford Street is a somewhat stripped-down version of their main branch in Marylebone (henceforth referred to as CoCoLeBone) - judging by their menu, it looks like they're taking some cues from Ittenbari - there's a heavy focus on the ramen and the menu is much smaller than the other one, although there's still more on offer than Ittenbari. The space itself is much more relaxed than CoCoLeBone, much more in a sort of canteen style, although there is a window into the kitchen (always a plus for me). There are a number of different ramens available - tonkotsu, miso, soy, and tantan. I went for a tonkotsu (no surprise there) set which set me back £13 for a tonkotsu ramen and a karaage (fried chicken) rice bowl. This also comes with a salad. The karaage was good, nice and crisp and tasty, although the dish could have done with a little bit of dressing. The ramens are every bit as well presented as the ones from CoCoLeBone's - again, you're given a bowl of ramen in broth and the toppings are on a separate plate. In terms of taste, the soups are definitely up to standard. As far as tonkotsu ramens go, I rank this one above Shoryu / below Bone Daddies. I also tried some of my dining partner's spicy miso ramen which I did find to be quite salty, although there was a lot of flavour in it. I will go back and try some of their other things, but I do think that the menu needn't be as extensive as it is - they could stand to cut out some of the dishes on offer and the sushi and focus on making the ramen as good as it can be. The question for me is, will this compete with Ittenbari? This Cocoro does a pretty good job with their ramen in terms of quality and price - the fact they do a tonkotsu is a big draw for me; the noodles are also of better quality. I do love the simplicity and speed of Ittenbari, so if I need to have a bowl of noodles in 15-20 mins, Ittenbari is the clear winner. It's also a little bit cheaper, and in terms of quality, there's not a huge gulf for me. So it's a bit of a wash, but unless I'm in a tonkotsu mood, I'm more likely to overlook Cocoro. The ace-in-the-hole is the hot yuzu and honey drink which is really damn tasty - seriously, I don't see why anyone would order any other drinks here. All in all, I will come back here from time to time. Although not the best of its ilk, I do think highly of their ramen, and I'll have to try some of their ricier dishes at some point. It is generally more affordable than CoCoLeBone too (£10 for tonkotsu, rather than £13) which is a big plus. Generally, I'm just happy to have such a good range of ramen options in London now. Exciting, soupy times we live in!

    Octopus ball, not authentic
    Lisa G.

Crap food, plz see photos, the octopus ball is not authentic at all, every thing is put too much soy sauce and sugar, and the music in the restaurant is very unsettling, like in a pub. Not recommend, not cheap either.

Generally good service and ambiance. Grilled salty mackerel is very good, as is their crispy soft shell crab (a classic dish). Calamari is excellent though be warned: it's spicy! A little hidden away, but definitely worth the descent into the catacomb-like interior…read more The vibe is intimate and the food is a legit take on Asian Fusion; mostly Japanese-inspired, but definitely with a bit of Chinese and Thai in there. The starters alone are worth a trip, and there were so many I wanted to try, they're actually all I had. Don't judge. They were amazing. The Pumpkin Croquettes were a slightly sweet and crispy version of traditional croquettes, deep-fried to perfection, with a light and smooth finish. Two will set you back a mere £3.10. While the spring rolls are good, I highly recommend the Vegetarian Duck Rolls, made with slightly sweet tofu skin, spring onions, cucumber, and Hoi Sin sauce. Three of those healthy rolls are a whopping £4.60. Finally, the Chicken Yakitori was also a dish worth it's weight in pounds, char-grilled to perfection and doused in a sweet yakitori sauce. A few skewers costs around £4.10. The rest of the menu is not only enormous, but sure to please any seafood-lover, especially sushi. They serve just about any Asian-inspired dish you can think of, including salads, ramen dishes, rice dishes, noodles of many different varieties, tempura, and sushi rolls, with a perfectly-paired sake menu to boot. But really, those side dishes are to die for.

Thanks to Katie B for stepping in as interim Yelp Ramen Club organiser in Josy A's absence…read more Ramen Club 8.0 took place at Ribon and Katie went to great lengths to make our booking and also to make sure that they had ramen available - for large parties, it's best to warn them as they only make a limited amount of broth each day When you get to the restaurant, don't be put off by the fact that the ground floor looks shut because it is shut! Descend the stairs to the subterranean dining room. Our party of 15 took over most of the main dining area though there are private rooms, which also offer karaoke The starters were my favourite part of the meal with the black cod and chicken karaage being top of my list even though the portion size was tiny for the cost. As far as ridiculous prices go though, I think my glass of orange juice from a carton for £3.30 was criminal - I can get 2 litres of Tropicana for less. Other starters like the pork and kimchi were rather bland The ramen was a disappointment. The broth was rather bland and the chashu was dry. Perhaps in keeping with the rather mean attitude to the volume of food served, there was no egg. In an age when Bone Daddies and other ramen joints in London have raised the bar, bowls like this won't cut it any longer It was a really fun evening but the food wasn't up to scratch, especially the ramen. Roll on, Ramen Club 9.0!

Thank you Katie B for being a star and getting such a huge crowd of us involved in ramen club!!…read moreRibon was a strange ramen experience...ramen is only listed as a side note on the specials menu, but after seeing a photo of their ramen in the magazine "zoom Japan", I was keen to try it. Ramen: The miso soup was really good; hot and delicious... BUT my noodles seemed like over-cooked, squidgy cup-ramen noodles. I liked the toppings, but I was sad not to have an egg, and the cha siu was forgettable. So all in all the ramen isn't as good as many of the other ramen-joy-lands in London. Plus they took aaaaages to make, even though Katie had told them in advance that we would order lots of noodles. Izakaya menu: We also tried the agedashi dofu (really nice, but without much dashi!), the karaage and the gyoza. They were all lovely, and the general izakaya menu sounded full of tasty dishes. I'd be up for trying more of them. Other: A group of my friends from Japan have been here several times, and they all really liked it... so I know this place could be amazing. I'll have to come back to try non-noodle items, and to have a sing in their karaoke booth.

For his birthday, my friend's only wish was to come here for an omakase and I cannot stop thinking…read moreabout it! I had to make about 200 calls to get a reservation but it was worth it. There are two sittings for omakase each day, one at 5:30PM and one at 8:30PM. The interior is very intimate and each sitting serves 7 people only. Bookings are made at least two weeks to one month in advance depending on their policy which changes from time to time. They only accept reservations through phone calls and based on my experience, it was pretty hard to get through so I'd definitely recommend reading through their website for what to do to secure yourself a reservation. My friend and I both got the sushi & sashimi omakase, which comes with three plates of sashimi, 7 pieces of sushi (all seasonally selected!) and a sweet tamago at the end. The sashimi and sushi are all seasonally selected and exotic! I got to try gurnard and turbot sushi which I've never had raw before! The fish is not only high quality and delicious but prepped and presented beautifully too. The variety of condiments selected for each sushi was carefully thought out, elevating each mouthful. The service was impeccable as was the food. The chef's wife and the waiters always came to check-in with us and walk us through the proper dining etiquette. Under the chef's wife's recommendation, we also shared some sake and plum wine. It was lovely watching the chef prep and make each piece of sushi, exhibiting his intent and passion with every movement. The whole session lasted a little over 2 hours and we enjoyed every bit of it! I highly recommend checking out Sushi Tetsu at least once in your life! Not to mention the omakase was only for £96 (excluding alcohol and any service charge), which is cheap for the amount of food you get and cheaper than many other omakase meals found in London.

Ambience was very cozy and intimate. Maximum seating of seven seats, hence very difficult to get a spot. Felt like I was in a local restaurant in the heart of Tokyo. Perfect for an intimate date or professional meal. Service was also top notch.
