I usually go for the katsu curry which is fantastic. This visit though I decided to try something new, the raisukaree which was a curry with chicken and rice. It has coconut though so if you're not a fan of coconut don't try it. I loved it. I wish there was more chicken in this dish though. Their spicy is not very spicy for Indians so when they say extremely spicy they mean mild spicy. Try the elderflower water they serve as well. So good! read more

Man, NO. This place is awful. Just bad. Really, really bad. I wish I could give it less than one star, but I guess the star gets thrown in there for the poor servers who have to work here. Hungry in Cambridge and Wagamama was in front of us so in we go. Boy had chicken katsu curry while I had the wagamama ramen. Both were BAD. The curry sauce was way off and the chicken was boring and bland. Speaking of bland, my ramen was BAD, BAD, BAD. Have I said bad? First, the broth had zero flavor. It tasted like water. Both the pork and chicken were flavorless as well. The shrimp tasted char-burned on the outside and flavorless and undercooked on the inside and the mussels tasted like they were old. Same goes for the squid. Even the ramen noodles were bad. They were overcooked, mushy and pasty. I will never, ever go to Wagamama ever again and I suggest no one else does either. To me Wagamama isn't a place you go to for fine dining but just want to grab a quick bite. Having said that, never have I tasted better mochi than here - it's the main reason I like to go there. A mixture of raspberry, sesame and coconut mochi all presented neatly on a small little plate on a bed of chocolade or passion fruit sauce! I have been going to Wagamama for years (mostly in London). This branch, in Cambridge, is smaller than the Kensington one I'm used to, but it's quite good. The service is excellent and the noodle soups and veggie drinks are very good. A friend complained once about the appetizers but my experience has always been very good here. I live in D.C. now and we're supposed to get a Wagamama downtown. It will be interesting to see if the quality holds up in the U.S... read more

Ok, where to begin?! This place is BY FAR one of the BEST restaurants that I've ever been to....in my life. Starting with the Hirata Steamed Buns-they changed my life! They were light and fluffy and the meat inside had a perfect sear on them. Oh my! When I go back, I'm getting 5 orders of just buns!! My friend ordered the Wagamama ramen. Now usually, I'm not a huge fan of ramen, but every component of this dish was perfectly flavored and prepared, especially the chicken and the broth! I ordered the Raisukaree Curry with prawns, which also did not disappoint. The curry was mild, yet extremely flavorful. I was speechless at just how amazing everything tasted. The ambiance inside the restaurant is nice and relaxing and there is family-style seating. The staff is extremely nice and willing to give recommendations in case you can't decide among all the amazing options! I will DEFINITELY go back, like tomorrow. read more

Wagamama is a good for those who like Japanese food, I would recommend the chicken ramen, absolutely delicious. They have loads to drink as well such as Asahi beer and Sake as well as soft drinks. The desserts are also good and worth the extra money. The place can be a bit pricey, however the quality of food is so good that it would be worth it. read more

Wagamama Ramen a Tasteless Miscarriage 20 years ago I had an absolutely delicious bowl of ramen at the original Bloomsbury location and suggested the Cambridge Wagamama to a traveling companion for lunch today. I was terribly disappointed in my choice. The Wagamama signature ramen was tepid and consisted of an overly salty miso broth with absolutely NO flavor of chicken! In fact, the cook (I'll not refer to him/her as a chef) didn't even take the time to ensure that the miso was fully dissolved as I kept getting globs of miso! The broth was NOT chicken broth--it was a poorly prepared barely warm miso soup with ramen noodles. YUCK! I eat ramen at least twice a week and I assure you, this tasteless concoction had no resemblance to anything I've ever had called ramen. Wagamama shame on you for trying to fool the English into believing you are serving anything that your signature Wagamama ramen resembles a veritable Japanese ramen noodle soup! Sorry, but for this dish you get a big, fat F for failure. read more

Decent menu and atmosphere let down by the kitchen. Dumplings skins were torn, rice was over wet and still uncooked/crunchy. Decent noodles with relatively overcooked and stale seafood. And the beef steak was inconsistently cooked, and still had a large piece of tendon attached. I'd look elsewhere! read more

I've been here a few times, but thought I'd share the experience with my boyfriend, who had never been to Wagamamas before. The queue was almost to the door, but once we were seated, we had 6 empty places by us, even though the queue didn't disappear; I can only think they didn't have enough staff to wait all the tables. Was hungry and looking for vegan food; spotted this place and the menu seemed promising. It's like a cafeteria with table service; nice, informal and spacious. Many of their dishes were vegetarian (clearly marked on menu), usually with tofu, and many may be vegan. I had the yasai (tofu and veg) itame, a curry soup, which the friendly and receptive server assured me was vegan. The soup was delicious, mildly spicy, and the portion was huge, had to take some back with me. Also had a lovely freshly pressed juice. Would happily return. read more

Wagamama is a great place to eat when you are hungry and you like asian food. The portions are huge and filling and the food is well composed. It has been said before, food is not served all at once but whenever a dish is ready. I never had any major problems with that - we never waited for longer than 5 minutes until everybody had their food. The starters are creative - I can recommend the duck gyoza. Ah but starters are called side dishes and might arrive together or after you had your main course. Every table is equipped with chilli oil and some special spice mixture, so you can make your food as spicy as you want. I love the free refills on green tea and they have elderflower joice on their menu! We normally go there during the week on the way home from work, because it is an easy, fairly cheap meal (especially if you have the free green tea you are talking about 7-8 pounds per person). read more

The Cambridge branch of Wagamama, a chain of Asian noodle bars, situated on a main road close to many of the town's shopping amenities, is a great place to grab a quick plate of something delicious over lunch or before heading to the cinema or theatre. The restaurant is a large open plan space on the first floor (though there is a lift), with long communal benches for the customers to sit. It is very popular with students and young families, so can get a bit noisy. The noodle soups, Thai coconut curries and stirfries that make up the menu are all freshly prepared by chefs visible at the far end of the room and arrive at the table whenever they're ready, so don't count on having your starters before your mains! Having said that, it's usually not a long wait for everyone to have their food - and it's well worth it: every dish I've tried has been hot, delicious and plentiful, so much so that to date I've yet to order one of the range of desserts! I've been to Wagamama Cambridge a fair few times now, and and quite a selection of the food on the menu. In my opinion, the dish to try there is the Yaki-Udon. Huge portions, tasty and filling all for a reasonable price (sub £10). Alot of the other noodle based dishes are great, but some can be a little bland so watch out. Service is generally pretty fast and you can be in and out of there in under half an hour if you're in a rush. Worst ramen I've ever had. I mean it was pretty upsetting how bad it was. The broth was under seasoned and tasted what I could only imagine dirty tap water would taste like. The noodles had poor consistency and flavor as well. The deep fried squid was equally disappointing. Under seasoned and the dipping sauce had no flavors. Plus the service I got was horrible. I can't stop thinking about my dinner from last night, I think we will go again tonight! We only get to go to Wagamama when we are in England, since we don't have this chain in Florida where we live. Last year we went to their branch in York, and we enjoyed the ambiance and the food. So when we saw it in Cambridge this year, we decided to go there on our anniversary. This location, however, is more casual, but the FOOD IS AMAZING. I had the yasai samla curry (tofu and vegetable curry - number 40). It's a new item on the menu. Oh my god my taste buds were celebrating. This was definitely one of the best meal I've ever had! It was like a fusion of Japanese, Indian and Thai. The spices were exquisite, the vegetables cooked just the right amount (crunchy and not overcooked), and the portions were very generous for the very reasonable price. As I mentioned the ambiance was very casual with almost cafeteria style seating (in rows next to other people) but our waitress Roxanna made us feel very special and talked to us as if we were her only customers, but I noticed she was sweet and patient to everyone. When I told her that my daughter in-law is a chef and that I like to compliment the chef when the food is good, she took me to introduce me to our chef Zak. I resolved that as a singleton if I was asked to order within ten mins I was going to order the raspberry fruit drink which sounded delicious. I m on my second green tea now. Good points the food was hot. ID ordered ename and the chicken ramen. Bad point they arrived together So to the amusement of the serving staff and the chagrin of the cooks. Came here one day during UK Travel Study Summer 2011. Service was okay but the food was gross. Curry sauce on the pork cutlet was WAAAAY off. Other people in my group weren't very impressed with their dishes either. I wouldn't recommend this place even if you've been starving for weeks. read more

One of the fastest and tastiest places to eat in Cambridge, the food is reasonably priced and the service fast and friendly. Brightly lit, open plan, and conveniently located for the Picturehouse cinema, Wagamamma is a great place when dining with others or alone. As a vegetarian it is refreshing to find so many delicious choices on the menu, and the yasai itame with a side order of edamame is my personal favourite. Even when crowded, food appears quickly, but not necessarily at the same time as that ordered by your dining companions. Well it's the usual Wagamama formula to be found here and if that's your thing it doesn't disappoint. The upstairs restaurant which can be easily missed as it only has a small and not too well signed door is the usual bench affair and feels quite large. The service was pretty good although there never seems to be the same staff in there twice. Food was good though although there was a delay between dishes and to be honest they were some of the worst maintained toilets I have ever been in. The floors were soaking but I think hopefully it was water. The also offer 2 for 1 deals if you sign up to their newsletter which is worth doing although it's dead easy to make that turn into an expensive meal if you end up buying a beer or two. Totally agree with Socialbutterfly77! I'm a Wagamama lover, an unashamed fan of the restaurants. I discovered Wagamama by accident one day in London when I was in Harrods, just wish-shopping ("Wish I could afford to buy this or that") and didn't feel like spending 15 quid on a cuppa and sandwich. Walking out of the side entrance I saw the sign to Wagamama, went in and had a meal and fell in love with their food, their style (egalitarian bench seats) and their staff (quirky, cheeky and fun). When Cambridge opened a Wagamama I was there on day 1! The branch there lives up to the generally good rep that this franchise has. My favourite in the "healthy" starter category is edamami beans with chilli salt. Best value for money starter is the fresh salad! And chicken ginger ramen is my favourite choice for main. But all the food is great, even the chicken katsukari. Best of all, you feel really virtuous eating there because the food seems so healthy! Value for money? Terrific! read more

This is the worst restaurant in town. The food: bad. Small portions, they try to make it 'unique' or 'fresh' by dropping way too much of one herb, (usually coriander), but it's still oily and otherwise pretty bland. Value: horrible. The portions are much smaller than at other restaurants with this type of food, and prices here are higher. I have left hungry before. The service is ok, but with some of the waiters, I get the sense they try to hussle you (trying to push extras that are not free on you). this place is great if your looking for a good cheap meal out, the staff here are very friendly and helpful. even the manager will pop over to your table and say hi so your made very welcome. the food is very reasonably priced and your portions are huge you wont leave hungry, although the food may not be as authentic as some of Cambridge other restaurant, it is still very tasty and good value. the restaurant itself looks very clean with an open kitchen so you have full view of your food being prepared, all front of house and kitchen staff are dressed in uniform and look very professional. bottom line good value for money read more

Been here several times as well as other branches and everything has been consistent, staff always very friendly and quick to serve. Food has always been very good - the firecracker chicken is a favourite, but as the name suggests it's pretty fiery! I love love love wagamama's and this branch is no exception. I came here when it first opened, and they were offering people free main meals in the days before it opened (im actually in one of the photos on the wagamama website - but embarressments aside!,...) so having eaten at several other branchs around the country I jumped at the chance to try this place. I've been several times since and the service is fab, of course you dont always get your food at the same time as possibly your guest as they make everything fresh (unlike some other novelty restaurants in the city i wont mention) so sometimes your get your food a few minutes before your other guests, but actually, at the cambridge branch, ive never had to wait or had friends wait more than a couple of minutes for their food to arrive. And its worth waiting for as the food is so yummy, you feel like your eating really healthy here (although the chicken katsu curry probably isnt the healthiest choice on the menu and is v popular!) i normally have my favourite yaki soba, washed down with either green tea (which is refillable and FREE!) or once the the yummy juices, or a glass of wine! The side orders are delicious too aswell as the desserts, they cater to everyone in the family even children, and the place can get very busy and noisy, and you have to sit on not so comfy benchs, but you dont come here for a 2 hour three course meal, you get big portions for around 6-7 pound a dish, and i feel that is value for money, i will return! read more
