The owner refuses to take responsibility. The infection occurred from a post grooming session. Per the vet, the diagnosis was pyoderma and this can be caused when groomers cause abrasion to the pet skin and they use diluted shampoo they've pre-mixed with water (a common practice to help aid in distributing the soap into the coat). This solution should be discarded daily and if not can become contaminated with pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria which is responsible for pyoderma. My dog doesn't have history of a hot spot on his back ever and this wound occurred by his spine. There is no way he could have twisted his head around 180 degrees to lick and create this so called hot spot. Further, he has always been on prescription oral flea medicine and does not have any history of fleas. It was because I have been going here for many years I refrained from calling the Health Department , requesting a refund, and repayment for the medical fees. The owners lack of responsibility is disappointing. Thankfully I have insurance for my pet but others may not be so lucky. Please be cautious of taking your pet here.

We took our late Pomeranian, Pancakes, here for several years. He always came back super cute and clean! The people here are so nice, and sometimes can accommodate same day appointments if you call in the morning. We just adopted a new dog Alfredo and will continue to take him here even though we no longer live in the area. They remember us and our dogs by name and know what 'the usual' is for them. They also always come back with a cute lil bandana that's often seasonal-themed - for Father's Day, Pancakes even came home with a little tie one year! We definitely recommend this dog groomer for dogs big and small and everything in between.

First time here. Claudia was the groomer and did a great job. They listened to what I wanted. Most importantly, the girls seemed happy. The price was reasonable: full grooming, ears, nails and anal glands. The shop was clean and the staff was friendly. So long as there is consistency in their services, we will be regulars. We've been using this team for years with all of our dogs. It actually started before we even moved to Lakewood. We originally went to the owner's spouse's grooming shop in Long Beach, and when we told her we were moving, she personally recommended Wag Your Tail. That alone told us a lot--and it's proven to be spot on. The staff is consistently friendly, quick, and clearly great with animals. The environment is calm and controlled--no chaos, no stressed dogs. You can tell the animals feel comfortable, which matters more than anything. Lucky came out looking great and happy. The quality, consistency, and care are absolutely worth every penny. My dog was going through a rough patch with her incurable tumor. I was nervous taking her anywhere for a wash, but it was time so I looked online for reviews and came across this place. Off the bat, they were very accommodating and you could just see how much they cared for pets. Had a great experience and wish I would've found this place sooner. We recently moved, and found this place on yelp with great reviews. We decided to try them out, and we were very happy that we did. The staff was very friendly, and accommodated our special requests without any hesitation. The prices were very reasonable, and our dog was finished in the time that they told us. Even other customers as we walked in, reassured us that the place that we were taking our dog has made them happy for years. We plan to take him back here going forward. read more

I've been going here for about 3yrs maybe. They do a good job with our dog when his skin is dry and they cut his hair nicely. They don't have bad customer service but could be a little nicer. I would recommend this shop. I wish the would it more smell good on him. read more

I can't say enough good's things for this place! My dogs and my cat had been there for 15 years ! Tony and his staff Tare absolutely great groomers and they go beyond for your pets! I move 11 years ago to Anaheim and I'm still driving there to take my pets got their baths and hair cuts, they were 5 now sadly I have only 2, just want to tell you thank you for been all this years very kind and nice with Marble, Khloe, Julio Juan, Tunita & Minifu the cat ! read more

Wag your tail is the perfect place for your pet grooming! Brought in my hairball corgi that was long overdue for a trim, and they made it look easy. Made my corgi look like a little teddy bear again and threw in a free bandanna! Phenomenal customer service and communication. Picked up my pup and couldn't be happier. Been coming here for a bit over a year taking our 120lb lab mastiff Howie to Danny and the team. We cannot speak more highly of everyone! They are a small shop but do great quality work. Howie is hard to handle and scared of loud noises but they are super patient with getting him in every-time. We especially take him here when he gets hot spots during summer because they clean out the wounds and will shave the hot spot. Like clockwork a couple days later the hot spots clear up. Would HIGHLY recommend Danny and the whole team! Thank you guys! read more

VERY reasonably priced (I paid $40 for a wash, hair trim, nail trim, ear cleaning, and gland expression!!!), they were very quick to groom (just about 2 hours), and they were able to get me in next day for an appointment when I called! My dog's haircut isn't "PERFECT" but it's close enough, and her demeanor was happy when we left so I think they did a good job with her! Our dog, simba (golden retriever), comes here about monthly for grooming for the past year. They do a great job- given that he has sensitive skin. We do need to give reminders regarding trimming nails but they do great overall. We have had great experiences so far! read more

My all white Siberian Husky was in desperate need of a groom and trimming to even her fur. I'm new to the neighborhood and wanted to make sure I took my baby to the right spot that would take care of her and understand her needs. I read so many reviews and realized many were recommending Wag Your Tail. I called with questions and concerns due to my girl's fur. Do I support the local business or do I keep this secret to myself? I guess it is the first. I love this groomer. My dog Hamilton loves going here, comes back squeaky clean, and always has the cutest bandana. In addition, they are reasonably priced and always reasonable with scheduling. My dog only gets a sanitary groom and a wash, but he looks so good. Do yourself a favor: go here. Do me a favor: just don't make it harder for me to get in. read more

Please check your pet every time you pick up. I realized mine was always coming home with thick spots on her body. I always scheduled appointments with her vet but was never able to get in on time and it would disappear and just leave a mark on her skin showing something had happened to her. I always assumed she would pick up a flea. Finally one day after getting her groomed I was able to see a vet shortly after. EVERY TIME I WAS TAKING HER THE GROOMERS THEY CUT HER AND GLUED HER BACK TOGETHER. The hard spots on skin had been glued shut. BEWARE of this place thats why they return pets so much quicker than any other groomer. read more

I have been taking my precious Liberty Rose two is amazing local groomer and have had only good experiences. It is a family run business, which makes it even more awesome! Have been coming here for a while and haven't had any problems until recently! One of our pups came back with an uneven buzzcut, and the other came back with an irritated eye that nobody gave us notice about. Wouldv'e at least appreciated a heads up that something happened, but hopefully it doesn't get any worse. Might be thinking twice about coming back. read more

We have a difficult, anxious, reactive 25lb pup named buster. Its been difficult to find places that will even try to work with him, but from the very first time @ wag your tail, they took care of him and were able to get him groomed. Its been a huge stress reliever, because out dog wont let us touch him with scissors or a trimmer. He always smells amazing and looks amazing after we pick him up. read more

When I brought him home, I noticed red scratches and a small bump on his skin -- clearly from poor handling. Completely unacceptable. Think twice before u take ur baby here! I got an instant response to my post from the owner. If they paid as much attention to the dogs as they do to online posts, the dogs would actually get proper care. It's interesting to see that this business owner thinks customers should stay quiet and not tell the truth -- and when they do, it's called harassment.

He was very hands-on and made every effort to make the experience great for us. The facility is so clean, convenient, and easily accessible. We were so grateful that we didn't have to break our backs and lift her up into the sink. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to take their dog to a safe place that will facilitate the bathing process in a comfortable way. It's also very affordable and 100% worth the money.

There was another comment on here about him being rude- that is my experience as well. As for the grooming itself- i believe he uses some kinda minimal water application and not an actual bath. It was very ineffective and i was wondering if he was groomed at all. Kinda looked like he had been brushed and someone sprayed deodorant on him. Price- absurd for the quality and experience.

Started taking my dog to Wag Your Tail after my daughter convinced me. Each time he's done he always looks so cute and I'm very thankful they know how to deal with difficult dogs (mine doesn't like when people touch his paws). Weekends they take cash or zelle, weekdays they take card. Will continue to come back! read more
