I frequent this Waffle House quite often and there is this one waitress named Jackie who for some reason she doesn't like when I come in. She likes to make me wait, I mean another waitress brought me my food and the cook felt so bad that he gave me an extra piece of bacon. I know another time I came in with another person and I saw her say to another waitress "watch this", she gave my friend their food and she waits for quite awhile before she brings me mine. I mean it's constantly. I try to ignore her or go to anothers area. I love Waffle House and the other employees are great but for some reason I'm on her wait list. There is one other older woman I see her being disrespectful too and she makes her wait also. I try to be friendly. She and G have been employed there the longest. Not sure what is going on with this place. But this is two times in a row I've been denied. The last time was inside and the worker told me they aren't taking any more orders for the night. That's funny because the last time I checked you were 24 hours, figure it out people. Because guess what, I'm not knocking on your window to get fed. That's unacceptable. read more

was told by another patron that frequents all the local waffle houses as I do, that he wasn't going to Vandalia Waffle House anymore. He saw the cook drop something, pick it up and serve it. Then Saturday AM, I went to Vandalia Waffle House and they have a new blk cook. And he had a small skillet tucked under the grill that was dirty, he wiped it out with a rag and used it. I like Waffle House. My first visit was in Norcross, Georgia at the WH closest to their HQ. You can depend on them for good comfort food, generally fast, consistent and friendly. There are exceptions... this was one. 11am, no wait; four of us, booth. Right below the vent. If it had been July, maybe the frigid air blowing on us would feel great, but it was November, 45° outside and we were wearing jackets or light coats and freezing with the AC blowing on high. We asked our waitress (sorry, it's Waffle House, so sales person) if they could adjust the temperature. "That's the manager's call." And she never asked the manager. We were cold. And the food would soon be, too. WH can vary on cleanliness. If you get there after the twice a day scrub, it's usually okay. But sometimes there is food on the floor, napkins, and other debris. This was one of those days. Someone was bussing tables so we asked. A broom made a pass, but no real difference. If I didn't have a service dog under the table, I probably wouldn't care as much or even notice. But, I don't want the dog lying in, or tempted to eat someone's poorly directed breakfast. (You think eggs stick to a pan, try dog fur.) It seems, by observing, they clean the tables with a wet cloth, by directing food from the table to the seating and floor. Fast, efficient, gross. Our food was good, as expected. But eat fast or it will be cold, especially today. If you want a food review, I'll say good and consistent. Not a lot to say about scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and waffles except that they are just how you'd like them. The hash browns too, unless you like them well done, cause that rarely happens. Think "fast" and that makes "well done" an exception. The service, after the initial order and food delivery, was nonexistent. Oh wait, after the food, she immediately deposited the check/bill with a "no rush" as she vaporized. No one asked "how is your food?" No one asked about refills. A sales person (aka waitress) counted cash and checked her sales for the day at the side counter near us. She was done for the day, so was not eager to find anyone to help. It might have been a shift change because all the waitstaff disappeared to the back room. (That where they have the dishwasher, store food, hide from customers.) That's probably where the manager, who likes a good brisk restaurant, hides too. Our salesperson appeared briefly to cash out two patrons. Then while avoiding eye contact and ignoring waving hands, grabbed the trash from behind the counter and disappeared again to the back room. She reappeared with a coworker in the doorway for an intense conversation. She scored excellent in eye contact avoidance training; probably teachers pet. Another waitress offered refills, to-go cups, and boxes for leftovers. She also cashed us out. Our salesperson did return as we headed out the door for a half-hearted "good bye." With the exception of asking it the heat could be adjusted, which was done politely, and refused, with "that's the manager's call," we didn't make any usual requests. Maybe she doesn't like or is afraid of dogs? Maybe she was the manager and just was passive aggressive and likes it cold! But, she certainly made an impression with her lack of presence. So the summary: good food, bring a coat, and order everything you need up front since you may never get another chance to ask. One other tip, the speed limit in Vandalia is 25, not 30, not 35. This is a cash making opportunity for the city police. Watch your speed, cause they are. We did not speed, nor get a ticket, but plenty do! read more

By far the best Waffle House I've ever been to. The establishment was very clean by Waffle House standards and the waitress I had (Sarah) was very attentive and made sure I was well taken care of and even engaged me in a little chat, I didn't catch the cooks name as he was cooking but he greeted me upon me entering the store, very friendly. My meal as you can see from the photo was very filling and I nearly ate everything, it was all hot and from the time I ordered until the time I got my food, it was maybe 5-6 minutes. I ate so damn fast that I got full quickly and had to slow down and pace myself lol. I am original from the south and now live in California but am in town for training and when I saw they had a WH, I knew I had to swing by, glad I did. Will definitely be back if my time here in Ohio permits. read more

I stopped in here twice over a couple days, this is your normal Waffle House, food is good. But mostly if you are like me you come for the banter behind the counter. I do love my Waffle House kitchen banter. It is better than the food most times. My meal was good as it almost always is at Waffle House, but oddly enough the coffee on my visit was very weak (yes I know they use a light roast, but it was seriously weak). This waffle house wasn't horrible by any means, but it wasn't the cleanest I have been in either. On this trip I also had to ask to get a coffee refill which I can't remember the last waffle house I had to do that in. Normally they will fill you cup as soon as you take a sip. (okay not that often, but close) I am sure I will be back as I do work up here on occasion. read more

My husband had to work night shift for his job last night. A co worker and himself stopped there to grab a bite to eat late as there wasn't much open at the time. My husband arrived home a few hours later and complained of stomach pain. He instantly had diarrhea and by 7am he was throwing up. My husband has never thrown up in the 15 years we have been together. Definitely food poisoning as he is feeling better now. Please don't eat here. If you're going to this Waffle House, I recommend you don't go when it's dark out. I've been going here for more than 4 yrs and the food is good and so is the service... if you go during the day. The service is pitiful on night shift (especially between 2am and 6am). They refuse to make food and are high half the time I go in there. I've never seen a more poorly ran Waffle House in the 30 yrs I've been eating there. And I know how it should be properly ran on night shift because my husband use to cook at Waffle House on night shift. read more

Like most Waffle House restaurants the food is decent, especially breakfast with the great bacon, but like most of this chain the bathroom was rank and we were there at 730am. A fly kept me company and it was 3F outside. They have a nice landlord that keeps them as pets. read more

The service was horrible the food made me sick and they still said I needed to pay for it the manager didn't take in consideration that I didn't feel good but made me pay for food that I didn't even touch .as for the rest of my family they burnt the toast brought the wrong waffle then the waffle was nasty. I waited over 15 minutes and in that time two groups of people that came in after i did had their food and my order had not even been taken i talked to the manager after i got my food and had been their almost a half hour and he had a smirk on his face and thought the whole thing was funny and when i got home i noticed the order was not right either needless to say one star is being generous do yourself a favor and go somewhere else anywhere read more

Terrible Service, walked in 12:45pm on a Wednesday, 2/26/14, and I left without even being acknowledged after 10 minutes. Even though 2 servers were behind counter, when I walked in no customary greeting. One server was talking to a customer, in her zone, another was working behind counter near cash register. I have visited this location with great service in the past but have not been back for over six months. Given such total lack of customer service, I will NOT BE BACK, I will visit a place that values customer service. read more
