Every dish we tried was delicious, and it's easily some of the best Ethiopian food I've had. That said, be prepared to take your time. The ordering and food preparation process is very slow, and during our visit the "servers" were literal children. We ended up spending close to two hours there, with most of that time waiting for the food to come out. If you're in a rush, this probably isn't the spot. But if you're willing to slow down and enjoy a relaxed, unhurried meal, the quality of the food makes the wait worthwhile. I'd absolutely come back, just with patience and no tight schedule.

I also added the cheesecake sambusa. Everything was outstanding. The watermelon fries were such a refreshing start. The beef tibs were deeply flavorful and tender. Each of the sides had such great flavor profiles! I first tried Ethiopian food about 12 years ago at a place in Portland, Oregon, and I've been wanting it again ever since. When I saw this restaurant open here in Valdosta, I was genuinely excited to finally have it again -- and now I wish I had gone sooner because I've clearly been missing out. Even as a pickup order, the service stood out the staff was personable and inviting. Everything was carefully packed, warm, and clearly made with care. And the cheesecake sambusa? Unreal, the perfect way to finish the meal. I can't wait to go back and make this a regular spot for my family and me.

We were greeted with a smile the second we walked in, and our server was friendly and attentive the whole time. A+ for vibes and service. Now, the food... oof. We started with the appetizer special of the night, which, shockingly, was the best thing we had--and it was aggressively mid. Everything that followed? Two thumbs down. The peas I ordered as a side; I swear were marinated in red onion slivers for several decades. Even after picking out all the visible onion, (as shown in pictures) it still tasted like Shrek's bathwater. If I had ordered this on a first date, I would've just gone home to save us both the trauma of onion breath. There's no way a single person has ever eaten this dish and said, "Wow, that was delightful." I'd actually pay money to see the facial expressions of anyone taking a bite. My partner's mashed potatoes? So dry and dense I could've thrown them at a wall and they'd stick. Come back the next morning and they'd be holding up drywall. Not a single drop of moisture in sight. I asked for crushed red pepper for my flatbread (thinking maybe it could be saved). No - No pepper flakes. Apparently none of their flatbreads are allowed joy or spice. Even if they did have red pepper, I don't think it would've saved it. Best thing we had all night? My partner's chicken. And even that was dry. So, that says a lot. Final verdict: come here for a drink and a snack before going somewhere else for the actual meal. It's a great pregame spot, but if you're hungry-hungry, keep walking.

To my surprise, the parking lot is almost full and people are waiting in the lobby area for tables already. This must be Valdosta's Capital Grille! I immediately find a nice corner seat at the bar and I bypass the wait. My bartender was Hanna. She was so sweet and attentive! Even Josh, the manager, came over, addressed me by name and thanked me for coming in. I ordered a local craft ale from Georgia brewing. Delicious and ice cold! For dinner I had the Roadhouse Churasco. My flat iron steak was perfect temperature and it was surprisingly tender. The churasco sauce was fabulous too. My loaded mashed potatoes with bacon bits were excellent as well and the bed of rice the steak comes on was so flavorful. My broccoli and carrots were over cooked and dry, however. I have to say, my expectations weren't too high, but this chain does an amazing job! I'm definitely coming in again on my way home.

Review It had been quite a few years since my last visit to a Texas Roadhouse, and this was my first time at the Valdosta location right off the interstate. Structurally, the restaurant has plenty of parking and is very easy to find, though it was definitely packed. On the service front, the waitstaff was extremely nice. Our waitress was actually in training and did a fantastic job--she was highly attentive with refills and timed our ordering perfectly without making us wait around. The front-of-house staff seemed to know what they were doing, but the hostess failed to explain anything to someone who hasn't been to the chain in a while, throwing out terms like we were "on deck" without clarifying if we were signed in or what that meant. The highlight of the meal was easily the rolls; they are obviously the best thing on the menu, and the honey butter is incredible. From a value standpoint, the prices are very reasonable, the timing was great, and the food came out quickly. However, the food quality itself fell short of what I remembered. Cons The Peanuts: I saw the bucket for peanuts but didn't see any peanuts, nor were they offered. Lack of Communication: The front desk host didn't explain the seating process or what "on deck" meant. Overly Salty Chicken: The Chicken Fried Chicken was overly salty and tasted like it was dropped straight from a frozen package into a fryer, rather than made fresh. Overcooked Steak: The steak was ordered medium but served almost well-done and dried out, giving the impression it had been sitting on a warming pad for a while rather than being cooked to order. Thumbs Up / Thumbs Down Thumbs Down While it is a quick, easy, and well-priced spot if you are just looking for a fast meal on the go, the poor food quality means it will probably be a while before I choose to go back.

The employees here did their best to make sure it was a non-special experience. After I ordered at the kiosk, no one would even look at me--absolutely no eye contact! A tall white guy with curly black hair totally ignored me. A big black guy calls out my name "John?" Then he shoves a bag in my face. No "Thank you" No "Have a good day." Nothing. Just "John?" Bag shove. I'm guessing they treat their employees really terribly and/or pay them poorly if they treat customers so badly. They made me feel like it was a bother for me to be there. Like less than human. When I took time to fill out customer service survey online and hit Submit it bounced back. "Page Not Found." That's unacceptable. Finally, I called McDonald's and the guy on the phone was great--the singular one positive McDonald's experience I had. He took time to listen. Said he would tell somebody the problem. That helped. Hopefully, they'll start treating employees well and training them properly. They can take a lesson from any Chick-fil-A or Wendys on Oak Street.
