Our food was soon there and we dug in. My chicken fried steak was good but the mashed potatoes and cornbread were the stars. I'm not a big fan of salad or green beans but they were pretty good for vegetation. My wife enjoyed her catfish basket. She prefers cornmeal on catfish over flour breading and was pleased with the crispy cornmeal and the generous portion. Now for the main event. Pie! Strawn's is known for their strawberry pie and for good reason. It was the best strawberry pie that I have ever eaten. The whipped cream topping was transcendent and paired perfectly with the strawberries. My photo does not do this pie justice. My wife went with coconut pie and while it was very good the strawberry was the winner. Looking forward to returning to Straw's Eat Shop in the future.

These people were outside doing drugs and I ignored that and walked inside to be told they are closed temporarily, there where customers sitting down waiting for there food, talk about absolutely unacceptable. Made me think this world is going to hell......Jesus Christ, I Have never been so disappointed and to be honest I almost said something to the drug heads but I just went to the other Waffle House and now I know why the one on Mansfield is so much better, like seriously. read more

Have been to this Waffle House 6 times since they have opened. Each Time it was terrible. Orders are always wrong, staff is always changing, service is horrible. The last time I went, Friday 2-9-13, the waitress dropped my plate on the floor and broken glass flew everywhere, including on my lap. But this is now the third time there has been WAY too much pepper in the pork tenderloin. Does no one taste this before it's sold? Whoever is making it is putting way too much black pepper in it. When this place is good, it's really good. Unfortunately, the quality control is nowhere to be found so you never know if it's going to be a good day or a bad one. Add to that you STILL can't order everything on the menu through the drive thru regardless of what the manager claims and it went from 3 down to 2 stars.
