This is just a little off road Waffle House located between a gasoline and truck diesel service station, a convenience store and a not so good rather rundown Ramada Inn. Its customer base seems to be composed basically of truckers and construction workers. The redeeming feature of this Waffle House is the friendliness of the staff and the food which is, for what they serve, rather good. One of the menu features I like was with their hash brown potatoes. They have 8 different toppings. Your first is 50 cents extra with any additional at 40 cents.

Not much to say here..... It's a typical Waffle House with the same menu..... Just different location. Our server was nice. Usually I'm lucky at Waffle Houses and get good service. The food is always pretty good. Priced fairly. Great grits. Love the hash brown potatoes, and they are usually pretty fast. I've come to this particular one for 9 years about this same time every year. Same this year as it was 9 years ago. We always stop here on our way to the Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte, NC for breakfast. We're always in and out quickly. Bathrooms could always use a little more work, but still fine. I got the grits and hash brown potatoes .... Good as usual. Waffle House is usually a safe bet for breakfast. We were all pleased with our food. My mom is pleased as long as they keep HOT coffee flowing through her cup..... which they did. We will be back next year!!!

Waffle House prices are great (especially compared to what we've been paying at Disney.) Best value is the all star breakfast.

We didn't have to ask or search for anything. I would definitely recommend coming here. It's a wonderful experience and the prices are reasonable.

"Retreat? More like Retreat from Flavor."…read more If you're looking for a place with gorgeous views, a nice interior, and food that tastes like it was prepared by a distracted toddler with access to a microwave -- look no further! Let's start with the espresso martini, which arrived looking like it had just lost a bet with a gallon of skim milk. It tasted like someone whispered the word "coffee" into a glass of dairy and then threw in three coffee beans to give the illusion of effort. Fancy? Sure. Flavorful? Absolutely not. I've had stronger coffee vibes from a candle. Didn't get any appetizers, probably a blessing in disguise. Straight to the pasta, which came out looking like it had just been scooped out of a kid's menu at a bowling alley birthday party. Imagine Chef Boyardee got promoted and immediately overcharged for it. That's the vibe. As for the service, it was slow enough that I had time to consider starting a new life as a lake hermit. When it came time to pay, I literally had to write down my order to help the server -- who then still managed to create a culinary version of musical chairs with our table's meals. Everyone got someone else's dish, which might've been fun if it were a potluck. It was not. The scenery? Gorgeous. The inside of the restaurant? Super nice. Honestly, if they'd served the ambiance instead of the food, this would've been a five-star experience. But alas, The Retreat truly lived up to its name -- I retreated straight to the nearest gas station for a Lunchable and some dignity.

We had a ordered for: Two Hot dogs with chili, French Dip, Philly Cheese steak Biscuits and Gravy with eggs Three Chicken salad sandwiches (special chicken salad) Angel was our waitress and she took great care of us...following up with drinks throughout the meal. The Philly Cheese steak was great and the member said he'd have to bring his wife out to taste this soon. I had the French dip. The beef was very good with melted cheese and side of au jus. The Au Jus was a bit salty but had good flavor. I thought the bread was a bit weak...or almost too soft, but it held together well. I would've preferred a more crispy crust with the soft inside...this had a very soft crust. (The Philly Cheese Steak guy thought it was the best, however). Everyone liked the food and had no complaints at all. Our average rating was a 4.6 for the restaurant. Angel said that the next time we came we should call ahead a day or so and she'd make sure she had a caramel cake for us to get (the last time we were here one of the guys ordered a slice of that and said it was the best he'd ever had.). Nice place, very friendly.
