Beth's Country Kitchen - Disgusting.

Beth's Country Kitchen -- Pageland, South Carolina…read more If you're driving **Charlotte Myrtle Beach**, this spot is a **straight-shot, easy 3-mile detour** that's absolutely worth it. Beth's Country Kitchen sits on its **own lot with plenty of parking out front**, housed in a **quaint, no-nonsense metal building** that instantly tells you this place is about the food, not the frills. And that's exactly how a proper country kitchen should be. I stopped in on a **Tuesday in January**, and the **lunch buffet was straight-up banging**. ### Buffet highlights: * Crispy, well-seasoned **fried chicken** * **Beef and gravy** * **Mashed potatoes** and **rice** * **Mac and cheese** * **Field peas and snaps** (a personal favorite and not something you see everywhere) * Additional vegetables and sides * A **full salad bar** * **House-made desserts** Everything on the line looked -- and tasted -- **homemade**. Nothing felt mass-produced or rushed. This is the kind of food that reminds you of church dinners, family reunions, and Sunday tables. The atmosphere matches the food: **simple, country, welcoming**, and comfortable. Locals clearly know this place, and travelers are lucky when they stumble onto it. **Bottom line:** If you want real Southern country cooking, generous portions, easy parking, and a buffet that actually delivers -- **Beth's Country Kitchen is well worth the detour**. Highly recommended.

This was our first time at this restaurant. We easily found a parking space in the front. We were…read moregreeted warmly when we stepped in the restaurant and out of the sunshine. If you go in the front door there are a few steps to climb. If you need flat entrances they are around back. The host took us to our seats and explained the buffet to us. It is only a buffet place. But you can order a take out as well. There were two tables of food and a dessert table. The salad bar seemed to never end. Everything was cut fresh with no limp vegetables or lettuce. Marilyn brought me coffee and Bev Tea. It was plenty hot and fresh. I absolutely love their coffee. I had two cups before I even finished my plate of food. Marilyn was very attentive to each table and came to ours often. After I finished my salad. I saw Carie filling a plate for someone. When she was done I asked her if she could get me a chicken breast. My joint pain and back pain had been extreme this week. Using the walker was even painful. Carie said, "Absolutely !" She returned quickly and with a smile. The staff is so kind. The manager Tommy came by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal. I let him know the salad bar was perfect. The chicken I enjoyed was tender and juicy. I also noticed the teamwork between the staff was easy and natural like a choreographed dance. Bev and I plan to return for the Easter Sunday Meal. Check this pace out and tell them Willie and Bev sent you. Ms. Willie Conway.

Good food. Fair price. Service was good. Lots of folks there but we got seated immediately…read more Only complaint was the freshness of the lettuce on the salad bar, but everything else was great.

I didn't expect it to be a boneless breast. Dark meat would've given it more flavor. The potatoes were flavorful and creamy. The collard greens were too acidic for me. Cornmeal Fried N.C. Catfish (3/5): The catfish wasn't anything special but the grits were very good. Lots of flavor and good texture. The collard greens were too acidic for me. Fried Adluh Yellow Grit Cakes (3/5): Would've been a lot better if it was fried more and had a crispier exterior. The herb goat cheese was good, but there was a little too much of it. Loved the roasted garlic (great for spreading on the complimentary bread!) Buttermilk Fried Shrimp (2/5): Only came with 4 shrimp. The shrimp itself wasn't very meaty and it also wasn't fried long enough. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)
