My first time visiting NC I was most excited to try Waffle House. I've heard many great things from my dad so we had to go, and we went everyday of our 7 day trip. The service was quick no matter what time of day. Cheap prices, always some sort of entertainment going on whether that be conversation with your server or with the other customers. I'm excited to go back to NC just for this. I would highly recommend this location. Every member of staff is awesome. Bathrooms are very clean and so is the restaurant! read more

Although the floor could have been a lot cleaner, the rest of this Waffle House exceeded expectations! Miriam was the cook, she got my eggs just right and hash-browns crunchy as requested. Our waitress was attentive and although all our food did not come out at the same time, we had so much food with 2 grand slam breakfast specials, it was close enough. She actually put my son's order together with mine to save us money. Thanks Twayla. The whole place was decorated for Christmas, just four days away. A Christmas tree welcomed us in the lobby. There's even a juke box in the place. If you don't time your visit just right you may end up waiting as with most Waffle Houses, seating is limited, but service is fast. The small size also means you can't get away from crying kids. If your looking for omelets or breakfast sandwiches there is another menu in addition to the placemat menu. read more

About 20 years ago I was driving across North Carolina in the wee hours of the morning when a fog thicker than pea soup rolled in across the highway. I pulled off at the nearest exit and the Gleaming Sign of the Waffle House beckoned me hither for solace. Inside that Waffle House I met the most self-actualized individual I had ever yet known. His name was Jimmy and as soon as I sat down at the counted he had a cup of coffee in front of me and a smile on his face. He told me that he knew "whenever a person comes off the road in the middle of the night, they need a hot cup of coffee and a friendly face". He told me how it was the greatest pride of his life that every day he would get to serve a "cross country trucker" who needed a break from their important job; and that he was honored to be the one who stepped up to serve them. His perspective on life changed my worldview at that instant and opened my eyes to the value each of us can bring to the world we occupy.... A simple cup of coffee and a smiling face at 2:30 in the morning on a foggy night was unquestionably the most powerful encounter of my life...and it was just another Tuesday to Jimmy. I think about that moment daily as I navigate the trials and tribulations of existence. One day I hope to be as wise and in touch with the zeitgeist of our time as Jimmy was all those years ago. My mantra is 'incremental progress in a positive direction' and I aim one day to be as in touch with the spirit of humanity as Jimmy instinctively was all those years ago. This is the best WH we've eaten at in the Hickory area, and I solely believe it was because of one of your servers named Marcus. He was a complete DOLL! He made our dining experience worthwhile. Our food was so fresh and so hot, and Marcus made sure our glasses were constantly full and kept making sure we didn't need anything else. rude staff. cigarette smoking employee tells us i parked in the "employee" parking (no sign + had no clue i 'did'" after being parked 15 seconds and if we weren't employees or customers we had to leave. i told him sorry and that we were gonna eat in a minute. we go in and order, food was good but it was just a waffle i ordered so not hard to fuck up. a double waffle is 6.50 including my topping. tell me why this mf rings me up for 8.50 ? i figured the "tip" i was supposed to leave would've totaled to b about that so i didn't. not coming back here thank Jesus there are others nearby. read more

Oh how Waffle House deserves 5 stars. I'll put aside the irony for a moment of rating Waffle House on Yelp to say that for my friends and I growing up, Waffle House was a staple. The triple hash browns all the way is a thing of great beauty. Bonus points if you're completely wasted. The cheeseburgers are fresh and fantastic, the all star leaves you feeling satisfied, and everything on the menu gives you that greasy spoon satisfaction that only Waffle House can deliver each and every time. If the cook doesn't have a cigarette behind their ear, leave immediately. The food won't be any good. Just kidding. Kind of a shame they took away the $5 menu, but hey, it's Waffle House. read more

OK I really can not rate a waffle house five stars!! I would lose my Elite status, vanity comes before the fall. The further south you go the better they get!! Guilty pleasures at its best!! Giant waffle that expands with syrup!! Even deeply colored in artifical color and high fructose corn syrup is remains somewhat little and fluffy. Really, the plate size appetizer should be served with a cholestoral pill. But that's not forget about covered and smoothered hash browns!! You have other options but why not put cheese and onions on them. Add bacon, because do you need blood flow more than bacon??!! Just add sweet tea and take down the pancreas. I FINALLY tried a Waffle House. I had some fancy greasy grilled cheese filled with random other greasy ingredients, hash-browns + chili, and of course, their waffles. I was a little upset that their waffles were nothing special considering that they call themselves "Waffle House." Went here because the reviews were good BUT it was the Worst Waffle House experience ever. #1 walked in and there was an awful smell. #2 Silverware was dirty. #3 we order water first and realized the cup was dirty so we asked for a sweet tea and got water again. So we had to remind her we wanted sweet tea. #4 Then she forgot to bring out waffle. So I reminded her but she brought a plain waffle (almost burnt waffle) it was supposed to be a chocolate chip waffle so I let her know. In a mean manner she picks it up and puts chocolate chips on top and just sets it on table like she was mad. #5 Barely any meat in my Texas bacon cheesesteak melt.
