Great food!! Prompt and friendly service. Western omelette is loaded with meats and veggies..coffee is fresh and hot. What more could one want!! Don't be alarmed with all the cars in the parking lot, diner is in front of flea market...

Carb Overload: Fried Okra, cornbread, baked apples, mashed potatoes, fried creamed corn nuggets and super sweet tea. ;-)

I was working in the area and starting to feel a little under-the-weather....so I figured a good dose of comfort food might be just the thing to get me through the day. I am glad that I gave this place a try. First, the sweet tea is exactly like my grandmother used to make... super sweet and delicious. I decided to order a veggie plate and ended up with a major carb overload... mashed potatoes, fried okra, fried creamed corn, and baked apples along with cornbread! Yikes! It was not a healthy meal but it was delicious. The mashed potatoes were yummy, okra was very good, and the fried cream corn nuggets were unbelievably delicious! Since I was dining alone and sort of in a hurry, I just sat at the counter and everyone working there was super sweet and very helpful. Prices are super inexpensive. I definitely would eat here again...hopefully next time I will make healthier choices though, lol!

I visited Tom's Creek Falls in the Marion area and stopped at the Country Diner for a burger. I had high hopes based on the other reviews, but was pretty disappointed. The cheeseburger was the best part of the meal-- it had a very good taste though it was a little skimpy on the condiments. The fries were undercooked and meagerly doled out. The Cheerwine did not taste right--like it was diluted or something. There was a mystery smell that kept wafting my way and interfered with my enjoyment of the meal. It had a bleachy, industrial cleanser smell and made my food, the fries in particular, have an odd taste from time to time. The service was average and the price was high for what I received. On an unrelated note, Tom's Creek Falls is a gem--a very tall waterfall, especially for being outside of the mountains proper. It is particularly impressive after a good rain.

Fast service. Friendly people. Good food. What else do you need? Had a cheeseburger 2 minutes before they closed. Told me to take my time and not to worry about them closing.

Pintos and cornbread with a side of okra.

There were four brews on tap on the night we went. I did Homeplace's Biscuit and Gravy and Hubs had Kiss My Grits from a Boone brewery. Both were fun flavors. We ordered pork rinds and pimento for appetizers. Hubs ordered the Hot Marion with tots and I ordered the veggie on sourdough with fries. When the pork rinds arrived I was shocked at the size! It's plenty of food!! The pork rinds are crispy and flavorful. Given the amount of pork rinds we snacked on both of us ate half our sandwiches. It's so much food! The Hot Marion is very mild but tasty. The veggie sandwich had fresh veggies and was quite refreshing. The goat cheese complemented the sandwich well. Great service and great food. Definitely stop in! There is street parking and a public lot nearby.

The hanging white light lanterns were charming but strange (in Asian culture they're hung for funerals). Only 2 beers on tap but a great selection of bottles/cans. Went for something different... Tucher Heffe Weizen! Didn't want another burger so went with something novel... the Gochujang Pork Belly sandwich. Gochujang is like a Korean food condiment, a combination fermented soybean and red chili pepper. Has some umami with a zing to it. Sadly, you could barely taste the gochujang, which really ended up being some chopped pork belly in a bun. The tater tots were great though, golden and crispy. Service was friendly. Will probably come back to try something different next time.

My daughter used to manage a German Restaurant, the owners being German immigrants, so she's pretty discerning when it comes to German food - let me tell you, she was absolutely blown away! She said hands down, all 3 items were the very best she's ever had. I opted for the Rueben, which, I was equally impressed with - the corned beef was tender, hardly any fat, and the dressing was to die for. Desert was equally as delicious, their Cheese cakes are nothing less than phenomenal - and lets just say their pasta salad and pimento cheese found its way home with us to enjoy with dinner that evening - amazing! I'd give them 100 starts if I could, a must stop if you're nearby - or worth driving if you're not. Can't wait until next year to come back!

We chose to split the Reuben since we have early dinner reservations and each got a side. Even at 1/2 the sandwich and side it was very filling. The sandwich was hot and delicious. The pasta salad was also very good. The desserts today was Banana Cake and Hawaiian Cake. I got a slice to go. Go for the good food and warm hospitality!

We were greeted by every single one with a smile and happy energy, despite how busy the place was. There are so many times when you sit at a bar unnoticed and patiently wait for someone to look your way, but this was the opposite of that. Our drinks were ice cold and served super fast. We didn't try any food, but they do have a small menu of bar bites that sounded really good. My cider was crisp, and not too sweet. It seemed to be "the spot", because there were lots of people but we didn't have any trouble finding seating. Lots of people had their dogs with them, which is always a plus!! While we understand that some restaurants have policies regarding larger parties, I believe gratuities should reflect the quality of service provided. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The service was slow, we had difficulty getting water refills and other items we requested, and overall the level of attention did not justify a 22% gratuity. What made the situation worse was the response after concerns were raised. We were informed that the credit card had already been processed for the full amount and were told that we should find another restaurant in the future if we were unhappy with the policy. In addition, after another member of our party left a review, a response from management included insulting and unprofessional remarks about customers who questioned the gratuity. Rather than addressing customer concerns respectfully, the response appeared hostile and dismissive. I believe tipping should be voluntary and based on the quality of service received. Customers should be informed of automatic gratuity policies before ordering, and concerns should be handled professionally. Due to both the service and management's response, I would not return and cannot recommend this restaurant.
