Meatloaf Wednesday was wonderful!! Everything was homemade! The waitress were so nice!

It's typical diner food, nothing fancy. They have super friendly staff! This place is sweetly decorated with country decor. Biscuits are great except they offer no honey which I thought was a staple in country dining. Their tables are set with just a fork in a sanitary bag so you have to ask for a knife and a spoon for coffee. Also butter does not come with your biscuit/toast either. You have to ask for it. Speaking of toast, it's not even toasted. I think it's thrown on the cooktop and barely warmed. It's the little things that should be expected of a restaurant that I have complaints about. read more

I arrived at the peak time. 6:00pm. Luckily a booth opened up in a couple of minutes. Waitress came right over and got my drink order then got my meal order when she delivered my drink. Seemed like just a couple of minutes until she brought my meal. The bar-ba-que was beautiful. It was light colored and lean with almost no fat or burned pieces. The taste was just as beautiful. Best bar-ba-que I've eaten. Service was great, food was great, price was reasonable. What more can I say? read more

Stopped here on our way to Grandfather Mountain. The food was exactly what we needed to fuel us up for our hike. The service was great and the conversation with the other diners made us feel welcome. I was working in the area and starting to feel a little under-the-weather....so I figured a good dose of comfort food might be just the thing to get me through the day. I am glad that I gave this place a try. First, the sweet tea is exactly like my grandmother used to make... super sweet and delicious. I decided to order a veggie plate and ended up with a major carb overload... mashed potatoes, fried okra, fried creamed corn, and baked apples along with cornbread! Yikes! It was not a healthy meal but it was delicious. The mashed potatoes were yummy, okra was very good, and the fried cream corn nuggets were unbelievably delicious! Since I was dining alone and sort of in a hurry, I just sat at the counter and everyone working there was super sweet and very helpful. Prices are super inexpensive. I definitely would eat here again...hopefully next time I will make healthier choices though, lol! read more

I visited Tom's Creek Falls in the Marion area and stopped at the Country Diner for a burger. I had high hopes based on the other reviews, but was pretty disappointed. The cheeseburger was the best part of the meal-- it had a very good taste though it was a little skimpy on the condiments. The fries were undercooked and meagerly doled out. The Cheerwine did not taste right--like it was diluted or something. There was a mystery smell that kept wafting my way and interfered with my enjoyment of the meal. It had a bleachy, industrial cleanser smell and made my food, the fries in particular, have an odd taste from time to time. The service was average and the price was high for what I received. On an unrelated note, Tom's Creek Falls is a gem--a very tall waterfall, especially for being outside of the mountains proper. It is particularly impressive after a good rain. read more

The grits were some of the best I have had and the eggs were overeasy perfect and the Pancakes were really big but not overly fluffy. The meats on the other hand(tndrln cntry ham) were both extremely dry and overdone and the toast was barely warm. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. The coffee is strong and hot and constantly refilled...just like we like. Overall it is still one of the best breakfast places in the area. Wish they had White Sausage gravy⁉ read more

Holy smokes! You gotta try the Catawba Burger. Better bring someone to help you eat it, Holy Cow it's huge. This dinner is open for breakfast and lunch. They have specials during lunch and a regular menu. The wait staff is nice and friendly. It's really clean and all the food has been great. Grits need a little help, but you can't have everything. read more

We camp in the area near Marion and my son took me there for breakfast the other week. Loved their breakfast. The only thing I'd change is to have the grits a little less runny. I like the eat my grits and eggs mixed together and like to eat with a fork not a spoon. I know we'll be going back. My son ate their hamburger all the way and was very well pleased. Said the meat had a real beefy taste. The best he'd ever eaten at a Mom and Pops restaurant. Like I said I will be going back. Oh yea there's a small flea market right beside it. Went there for breakfast on a recommendation from a friend. I'm from Texas and a little picky, but this place met all my expectations and exceeded some. Down home country cooking is what this place is about! Large portions, great flavor and didn't need any seasoning or political correctness! My wife and I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The waitress was friendly even brought me some livermush which I had never heard of to try, pleasantly surprised with that one. This place is a jewel in the area outside of Asheville. Excellent food at an excellent price. I had the pintos and cornbread with a side of fried okra. Nothing came out of a box or a freezer. The cornbread was delicious and all of that and a coffee for less than $5.50! It's borderline ridiculous in a great way. I travel to Marion at least once a week. I'll be back. read more

Awesome breakfast. We're from our of town, and we're so happy we found this place. My husband had the Western omelet with a biscuit and gravy and he said it was one of the best breakfasts he's ever had. I had eggs, toast, grits and livermush. If you've never tried livermush, try it here! It was so yummy. Going to try to make it back home. The service was awesome too, very quick and friendly. Loved it here! read more
