grits, toast & over easy fried eggs
    Susan H.

Four stars for Waffle House? Well, yes. For what they do, they do it well. We were heading east on I-20 in MS looking for a place to have some dinner. What we were hoping for was a spot that we've never tried before, with no luck. Finally, we decided that the next exit we're pulling off the road and one way or another, we'll find some dinner. The next exit was exit 88 which was Forest, MS. As I saw the sign for the Waffle House, I asked my husband (all the while thinking he'd say "no") if he wanted to eat there. Much to my surprise, he said "Yes". We hadn't eaten in a Waffle House since the early 90s (Yeah, it was that long). We were here for an early dinner. At the time, only 2 tables were occupied and they had a section blocked off, due to being short staffed. After we sat down, the server gave us menus and silverware. She said she was the only server and would get to back to us as soon as possible. That was fine as it gave us time to look at the menu. We both decided to have breakfast for dinner and got the platter that had 2 eggs, grits, toast and your choice of ham, bacon or sausage. I had my eggs fried over easy while my husband had his scrambled. For my meat, I chose ham while he chose bacon. To drink, I had sweet tea. My husband tried to have some OJ but they were out and didn't have any other juices. He ended up having coffee. The young man cooking the food did a great job. We think he was fairly new to the job because he kept asking the server questions. That's good as he showed he wanted to do it right. We both thought the grits were great. They were creamy and had been seasoned so no need to add any salt or pepper to them. Our eggs were properly cooked. My piece of ham was bigger than expected and it was nicely browned. The sweet tea was perfectly made. Our server was friendly and efficient. What we ding them for was the shabby, worn out seating. Plus the Health Department grade "B" gave us some pause---but not for long. We've eaten in "B" restaurants before without issues. Yet, the place struck us as being clean enough. We don't regret stopping in and we both felt full after our meal.

A lot cleaner than most Waffle Houses. Food was what you'd expect, Waffle House. Hot and filled a hollow spot

That's how long it took for them to say a word mind you we had been sitting about 5 minutes before I started to time them.

Wish we could have seen them in bloom. 5. Can order nicely prepared meals to room or eat in library lounge - breakfast or dinner. Def an old southern feel to the place. Cons: 1. Parking was tight and hard to to manuever but they did have a cart available for rooms that are further away - partially broken. 2. In downtown area, kind of dingy and run down - but somewhat charming w many old craftsman homes around. 3. Could have used some hanging baskets and annuals for more color and charm - would help brighten the mood of the run down area of town - 4. And wish theyd answer the phones. We left messages almost everytime we called (they were good about calling back). This leaves one feeling disconnected from a warm hospitable experience.

Public Safety Alert: Menu Misrepresentation, Undisclosed Pork Concealed in Cajun Pasta at Bistro 24…read more On July 4, 2026, during a holiday trip from Georgia (5+ hour drive), my fiancée and I dined at Bistro 24 at Pearl River Resort. Having abstained from pork for over 30 years, I trusted the menu when ordering Cajun Pasta--a meatless base with a paid Chicken add-on. Unbeknownst to us, pork sausage was heavily concealed inside the thick Alfredo sauce and vegetable base. We elected carry-out containers after sampling several bites and returned to our room with the intentions of getting some much needed rest. Hours later, my fiancée suffered acute gastrointestinal distress. I called front desk to be connected to Bistro 24, in hope of speaking directly to a manager or food representative, to no avail. Moments later I suffered severe biological rejection resulting in acute emesis upon our bedding. At that time I requested housekeeping. We were forced to get dressed and leave our room at the Silver Star Hotel to address the issue in-person at Bistro 24 inside the Golden Moon Casino. We confronted the manager and Executive Chef. The Chef openly admitted, in front of the manager, that he intentionally added pork sausage to the base because "everyone was asking for it to be", despite omitting it from the menu. This was a deliberate decision to alter a dish without disclosing a restricted protein. We filed an on-property complaint with resort security (Officer Iris, badge #47). Post-departure, we sent emailed complaints. Risk Management sent a Certified Mail package offering a nominal $500 each, conditional upon signing a Confidential Release Form. We rejected it. I offered a final window for them to outline their corrective menu policies, but they chose total silence. CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: I urge anyone with severe food allergies, religious/spiritual beliefs, or dietary restrictions to exercise extreme caution here. When a kitchen intentionally conceals pork inside a base sauce without labeling it, it creates a high-risk environment. You cannot trust this menu. Due to the resort's total lack of accountability, I am formally escalating this to the Choctaw Gaming Commission and the Office of the Tribal Chief for a full regulatory audit. We intend to exhaust all available means to protect public safety from corporate entities that fail to acknowledge grievances and operate outside of policies meant to protect the public. After a successful purchase and a hemorrhaging from my credit card, we opted to celebrate the occasion with a meal. And Lo and behold Table 100 was just across the street from where we were. Ambiance 4 Stars - as you walk into the establishment, you are transported back where the warm wood interior, cozy white table cloth tables or booths, high end bar drinks, and classy servers in their white or black attire are waiting to serve you. There plenty of tables and booths to seat a plentiful of patrons. And if you need a little bit more private, you can request a private room depending how many are in the party. 4.5 Stars - Service: our server, Andrew was wonderful, professional and has a great sense of humor. We bantered throughout our dinner but the conversation never crossed over to make anyone uncomfortable. He was observant of our needs and when to bring our next course. Our glasses stayed full with our beverage. 4.25 Stars - Food We ordered from the dinner menu instead of lunch due to our timing at 3:00. Let's just call it "Linner". Haha. 4 Stars - Grilled Swordfish- My wife ordered the dish and came with a decent size grilled swordfish fish, sauté spinach, creamed mash potatoes, and a beurre blanc sauce (lemon, butter and dry white wine). The swordfish was thick and moist; not dry at all. The beurre blanc balanced the bland spinach and the seasoned swordfish. The creamed potatoes were creamy, buttery's and not too salty. 3.75 Stars - Pan seared Redfish with cube fried potatoes, sauté green beans, beurre blanc sauce and top w a Chilean tomato salsa. The redfish was moist and tasty but I wish it had a little bit seared on it for a crunchy factor. The cubed potatoes were good but nothing to write about. The fresh sauté green beans could have a bit more garlic butter. 3.5 Stars Side dish: Deep Fried Brussel Sprouts. Hot, steamy and fresh. Has a slight crunch on the exterior leaves and was seasoned w a sprinkle of salt. 3.75 Dessert: Crème Brûlée and coffee. The crème brûlée crust was crunchy and the vanilla egg custard was good and smooth. It would have been better was a scoop of fresh whipped cream to go with the fresh fruit and crunchy layer. 5 Stars - French pressed Italian coffee. The coffee was a highlight of the dessert. It was hot, fresh, and strong. Just like an Italian coffee should be. It was between an espresso and caffe' Americano. Our, server, Andrew did a wonderful job on the coffee! I definitely recommend this place and we will be back. Don't forget to ask for Andrew, if he is available.

With vintage stools, cozy booths, and music from the 1940s and 1950s playing in the background, it truly feels like stepping back in time. You can order burgers, fries, custom sodas, and milkshakes, but honestly the milkshakes alone are worth the visit. We went specifically for shakes and ended up adding a basket of fries, which we absolutely demolished. The service was excellent -- our milkshake and fries arrived within just a few minutes of ordering. The fries were seasoned really well, though I'm pretty sure the secret is a slightly sweet sugar blend mixed into the seasoning. Either way, they were addictive. The milkshake we tried was the Ginger Finger -- a vanilla shake blended with Butterfinger candy and a hint of ginger that gives it a subtle bite. It was unique and delicious. There's plenty of seating for everyone, whether you're dining solo, as a couple, or with a large group. The walls are lined with interesting photos that add to the charm, and parking is plentiful. It directed us to go inside to get someone to move their car which was blocking us in. We didn't see any other parking lot and there weren't any no parking signs. I went inside and found our waitress who gave the note to a woman sitting at the bar with papers spread out in front of her. I assume she was the manager or owner. She didn't say a word and sent the waitress to move her car. All of the sudden our sweet server wasn't so sweet.
