Lee's was fantastic. Because of their options for people with gluten allergies, I ate here three times. GF options included crustless quiche (except they were out the whole time we were there), GF bread for sandwiches (ask for 4 slices to make a full sandwich since the size of the bread is so small), omelettes, salads, smoothies, chicken and rice soup. For dessert, they have something called Blueberry Bliss, which I thought was very good but not something I would order again (only because it tasted like Cool Whip topping instead of real whipped cream). I arrived not long after opening one day for coffee and breakfast. We seem to have been the first ones in. The building is large with very tall ceilings and a large staircase in the back that leads to an upstairs area. The menu is fairly small with options of quiche, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee options. I ordered a breakfast sandwich that was pressed like a panini with a side of fresh fruit. The sandwich was fresh tasting and the perfect amount for breakfast. My mom ordered the quiche. She reported it had good flavor but was more "wet" and not as sturdy as a traditional quiche. The coffee is freshly brewed and gave me the morning pick me up I so desperately needed. The staff were helpful and it took only about 5 minutes or so to receive our food. Lee's Coffee & Tea is one of the main coffee shops in the downtown Laurel, MS area right across the street from Manuscript Coffee which is a much smaller and more intimate place While Lee's Coffee and Tea offers bottomless coffee and nice spaces to work they don't have whole cream which to me is a HUGE NEGATIVE as I demand whole cream for my coffee! Lee's Coffee & Tea does offer a far wider menu with food. Lee's Coffee & Tea is also just quite large with both an upstairs and downstairs so people tend to spread out and you are far less likely to strike up a conversation with anybody. Across the street at Manuscript Coffee they have a much smaller space but you can certainly find space to do some work or anything else you might need to do at one of their tables. Manuscript Coffee is far more intimate and gives off more of an urban small coffee shop vibe where you might actually meet people and have conversations. Overall if you want a full meal and bottomless coffee Lee's Coffee & Tea will be the better choice. If you want a more intimate traditional coffee shop experience then Manuscript Coffee might work better for you. If you DEMAND whole cream for your coffee like I do you MUST go to Manuscript Coffee or bring your own whole cream to Lee's Coffee and Tea. Manuscript also tends to close far earlier than Lee's Coffee so that might also factor into your decision. So ultimately it will be a contest of size, menu and what is open for you to determine which choice will make it the best coffee shop choice for you in downtown Laurel, MS. read more

Great ambience, restored old building worth stopping in to check it out. Last time we were here we tried their coffee. It was memorable so we decided to do Sunday brunch here. This will be the first time eating here. Ordered an omelette soft and fluffy. You'll have to pay extra for spinach, onions etc. I simply hate restaurants that tack on 3% for using a credit card on top of the tax and til. So an $8 omelette ends up costing $13. Ugh! Makes It hard to go out these days. So, note to patrons. The omelette maker browns the outside of the omelette. Some folks would be thoroughly pleased. However. I prefer mine "soft" . Hard to do in an omelette maker. My hat is off to the staff for making it right by exchanging my omelette for a croissant with the same ingredients read more

We explored upstairs and loved the architecture. parking in the back alley made it easy to get in, plus a clean restroom! We appreciated that Lee's was open on Monday morning while we were traveling through (most other businesses im Laurel are not). I had an omelette, my wife had a breakfast sandwich, both were delicious and came out quickly. My wife particularly enjoyed the freshly-brewed Earl Grey tea. My husband and I stopped in for breakfast after church this morning. (The coffee shop is less than.5 miles away.) All the food is all done by microwave, and it was $40! It took 45 minutes to get a COFFEE!....a raspberry, white chocolate Latte. We had finished our microwaved breakfast and still no coffee! Lees cafe is a quaint place to go in downtown Laurel for a light lunch and coffee. The music is always calming and the service is always quick. I got a half of the chopped salad and it's pretty big. Lots of veggies and pieces of chicken and ham. The chicken and rice soup is amazing. The best ever. I just wish the cup was a little bit bigger. My husband got the blt without tomato and it was good, just wish the bread was toasted but I'm sure you can ask them to do it . Instead, I ordered the Southwest BLT which seemed to only be "Southwest" because there is avocado on it (??) and my croissant was stale. I'd get a drink not food again. Very generously giving them 2 stars for ok coffee but might need to reduce to 1 star by the end of this review. I agree with the other reviewers, no friendliness or smiles from any of the employees. Limited options on food (we didn't order any) and drinks (only 2 sugar free syrup choices). I also agree that the entire process from ordering to getting the coffee was pretty slow. I thought my latte was a little too sweet; I'd rather have it less sweet and be able to add sweetener. On the plus side, there are plenty of seating options. The biggest negative is no soap in the bathrooms. I've been known to chuckle at the signs, "all employees must wash hands"... I've always felt that this is a bit obvious. Apparently not at Lee's. Patrons also don't get to wash their hands. I don't mean they were simply out of soap, I mean there were no soap dispensers which means they just don't offer soap. Disgusting. I had a Chocolate Chiller that was blended perfectly with the perfect amount of expresso and my husband had plain drip coffee that he says was amazing. We went early to Pearl's across the street and there was a huge line (before 10am) except their sign said 11am for today (Memorial Day weekend). My friend recommended Lee's across the way because I'm into healthy, non fried foods. I looked at their menu in the store, and was sold. The line was long, but moved fast. The service was excellent and the food was delish. The wifi want working (password: coldbrew). The only thing is.. when cooking the omlet, please cook the ingredients in with the egg while it's cooking NOT toss the veggies in at the end. Trust me! What a dandy-fine little spot to grab breakfast, or to take a break from all the shopping Laurel provides! The crustless quiche I had on our first visit was terrific, and prompted me to return! There were so many people during our first visit (the Saturday morning of the Loblolly Festival) that I wasn't able to appreciate the decor until our second and third visit! The entire staff was agile and listened to customers, and while their "delivery" system (with numbers placed in stalks on the tables) was a tad awkward and inefficient, everyone helped out and meals were delivered. As you can tell - we frequented Lee's three times in 2 days - it was just that good! read more
