If there were 10 stars, we'd give it! The home is gorgeous, but the service is ABOVE AND BEYOND! We came into town on Amtrak. Alec was waiting for us. He gave us the nickel tour of downtown and some recommendations. I try to eat vegan as much as possible, and breakfast was accommodating and delicious! We truly enjoyed meeting and eating with the other guests and ran into one of them at lunchtime in town. We decided not to go to dinner Friday night, but I wanted some wine, so Alec took my husband to the liquor store. This has been one of the best vacation spots - beautiful, relaxing, SPOILING!! Stunning home full of marvelous antique furnishings and decor. Beautifully appointed bedrooms; we occupied the Jefferson Suite--2 bedrooms with private tub/shower; beds were very comfortable and the suite was absolutely clean with plenty of linens. The house is fully air-conditioned so we were very comfortable inside. The staff provided a delicious fresh-made breakfast each morning and the menu rotated throughout our stay; we ate with other guests which was great, as we had a couple from Holland and 2 retired military couples. Easy 3 blocks walk to downtown shopping and restaurants. Our host, Dr. Stancill, was friendly and extremely knowledgeable on Laurel history and the Home Town tv show for which he provided an interesting talk after breakfast. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. There is an elevator, if needed, to access the 2nd floor rooms. We would absolutely return again and highly recommend the exceptional B&B in Laurel. read more

I have stayed twice at the Grandiflora with my daugh-in-law and absolutey love it. Alex and the girls are wonderful at making breakfast, the grits are delicious and the place is spotlessly clean. I just love this place. The owner, Dr, Stancill, has a great tour of the home and tells about Laurel when he first graduated and was starting his medical practice there. Very interesting to learn about the changes he made in the home and what Laurel was like at that time. Very interesting tour. The rooms are beautiful and are full of antiques and it amazed me at the things he did to the home that were such an upgrade. And don't worry if you can't climb stairs because it has a great little elevator. There is one room that you can't access when using the elevator so if you need the elevator don't reserve that room. There is a wonderful library to enjoy and a huge den with multiple seating and a TV. It is nice to sit there for the news and to meet the other guest. If you have three people then you can rent the two rooms on the front of the house. One bed is in the breezway that leeds to the front balcony and uses the bath that is in the bedroom next to it. The door locks people out from going to the balcony when in use. I can highly recommend staying at Dr. Stancill's Grandiflora Bed and Breakfast. read more

You will not be disappointed when you stay in this extremely charming and grand old home. The hosts are most accommodating, and the house and gardens are stunning. We loved relaxing in the back yard, on the patio, and most especially on the front porch upstairs. Luckily that room was available to us on our visit and we took every advantage to sit outside. Breakfast was delicious and Alec, the caretaker, was extraordinarily helpful. We loved visiting with other travelers and hearing about their rooms and their adventures around Laurel and Mississippi. Clean, comfortable rooms and delicious breakfast!! My mom and sister are now savory grit fans!!! They asked for dietary restrictions and had sugar free syrup for my mom and decaf coffee for me! There were gluten free muffins and peach cobbler with ice cream available when we arrived!! The owner gave a tour of the house after breakfast (we didn't make it to that but were thankful for the opportunity). Beautiful home and grounds! Beautiful community!! We had the absolute pleasure of staying here for 4 nights (Wednesday to Saturday). Hugh greeted us when we arrived and made us feel right at home. The house is stunningly beautiful from the outside and even more impressive on the interior. We stayed in the 1840 room and it was like taking a step back in time. The bed is small but we knew what we were getting in to. If you're not comfortable sleeping close to your significant other, you might want a bigger bed. We were just fine. Waking up to the smell of a southern breakfast was perfect. The chef's made some delicious food, especially the cheese grits! There was never a shortage of good coffee either. After breakfast Hugh treated us to a private tour and history lesson for the town; something you definitely don't want to miss. The inn was very clean and well kept. I felt very comfortable just relaxing around the inn chatting with other guests and the staff. I would highly recommend staying for a few days, just one night doesn't give you enough time to check out city center, which is within walking distance. PS. Most of the town is closed on Sunday so plan accordingly. read more

Overall we had a good stay and the staff were all very nice and helpful. However, we stayed in the Thomas Suite with balcony and there were a few items that could have been much better. The balcony and furniture needed cleaning badly. The carpeting in the extra room needed replacing and the chairs in there needed the seats refilled and upholstered. Also, the toilet flushed very slowly and hardly fully flushed. Outside the outdoor furniture by the green swing was filthy and needed cleaning, if possible, or simply replacing of the pillows. Some of the other outdoor furniture was unusable as it had been placed in the flower bed areas for whatever reason. Finally, if I'm not mistaken the picture that I saw online showed a marble staircase, which turned out to be wood with carpeting. For the price I thought that things could have definitely been kept in better shape! read more

I really enjoyed my stay at the Grandiflora! The house is grand and beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed. Our room was very cozy and comfortable. The owner and staff were more than accommodating with the owner giving us the history of the house and town. Very close to downtown. Shelby and Alex made us feel right at home and the home made breakfast every day was not only delicious and delightful but the little touches of eating on china made us feel very special. The house was decorated for Christmas with several beautifully decorated trees, poinsettias, nativity sets, and other decorations. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Grandiflora in Laurel MS. on February 25 & 26, 2021. Alec is a great manger! Hugh the owner is a pleasure to chat with. His knowledge of history of the house and Laurel were very interesting. The reason for only 4 stars is, there was no TV in the rooms and while the breakfast was good I expected (for the price) to have a gourmet breakfast served in the beautiful dinning room. What a charming place to stay! I stayed in the Stancill Suite. The room was clean and comfortable with a private staircase. The bathroom was large with plenty of counter space. Alec and his staff did a wonderful job taking care of me during my stay. The breakfast was delicious as was the company who joined me. The location is great. The Grandiflora Bed and Breakfast was really amazing. Although it's beginning to need a little cosmetic refreshing, the whole experience was definitely 5 star. This grand lady is a beautiful historic mansion and the stay was more than we expected. Breakfast was delicious everyday and the suite and en-suite bath were very warm and welcoming. WOW! My sister and I stayed at Grandiflora for 2 nights in the charming town of Laurel! It was a highlight of our trip. We took time to walk around the historic neighborhood and admired the many old mansion like homes for evening walks. Everyone at Grandiflora made sure we had everything we needed! Our room and all acomodations were just perfect! The breakfasts were delicious and we enjoyed sitting around the table visiting with the other guests...which several make return visits frequently! The owner, Doc Stancill, gave a morning history tour of the home which he has owned for decades! It was very interesting! The staff also gave great recommendations for restaurants for our dinner. When we saw the stairs and knew the weight of our suitcases...no problem, the Doctor's parents had installed a small elevator years ago! My sis and I really enjoyed staying at the Grandiflora!!! Room was clean and the manager, Alec, was helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, as my husband was retrieving our suitcase from our car, a dog came barking and running from the house next dog and bit his leg leaving two bleeding puncture wounds. The owner of the dog came out and asked if the dog was bothering him. He said yes and that the dog bit him showing her the wounds. When he said he was staying at the Grandiflora, she smiled and said she was the owner. She never apologized for the dog biting him or even asked if he was OK. Alec was told the next day about the dog attack and biting and said he was sorry, but never asked if he was OK. This was very traumatic for my husband and he was visibly shaken up about the attack. It was very disappointing that the owner and manager did not show any concern about the dog attacking a guest. There was never an apology. Needless to say, we will not be staying at the Grandiflora if we ever return to Laurel Mississippi. read more

Not only is this historical spot gorgeous, but the accommodations are comfortable, the staff friendly and accommodating, and the food they prepared for us, delicious. What a great get-away destination! We knew this bed and breakfast was above reproach the moment we pulled into the driveway. The owners live next door and greeted us as we pulled in. As places are re-opening after the pandemic, we felt extremely safe both here at Grandiflora and at other establishments in Laurel. People are still practicing safe social distancing. Everyone was courteous to others. Grandiflora was magnificent! This Jeffersonian Revival style home had beautiful columns and balconies.Located in the Historic District of Laurel, it is in easy walking distance to so many sites. The incredible Lauren Rogers Museum is across the street. There were many dining options in the area. Our accommodations were on the second floor, as are all of the bedrooms. A small elevator easily handled getting our luggage upstairs. Our room and bath were spacious and provided for all of our needs. Treats and soft drinks were in the room, along with chocolates by the bed. Wifi was easily accessible. Although there are no televisions in the bedrooms, the one downstairs in the den was readily available. We sat in the den, but never used the tv; there was so much more to enjoy. We awoke to the most delicious Southern breakfast the following morning. All the food was prepared by the cook/chef and served promptly and truly satisfied our appetites. Coffee was always available with any accoutrements we desired. Perhaps our greatest experience was in visiting with our hosts. Their genteel manners made us feel as though we were old friends who were just passing through. Any questions about Laurel, places to go, places to see, and things to do were promptly answered. We were even given a little map that our hosts created for frequently requested places of interest. We were sad that our time only allowed for a one night visit, but that means we will have to return very soon. read more
