Needs some TLC. The owner was so sweet and the interior of the house is lovely. Breakfast served at 8:30 was good but not amazing. The exterior needs lots of attention. Cobwebs, dirty furniture & pillows, clutter - the veranda would be a lovely place to relax if it were cleaned up. The pics online were obviously not taken recently. The location can't be beat - across the street from the Lauren Rogers Museum (which is fantastic) and walking distance to downtown. We stayed 3 nights (which we were charged for immediately upon arrival) and had to ask for more towels. No service was offered for our room - trash collection, bed service, towels, etc. At $170/night I was a bit disappointed. read more

Stayed at Wisteria for a couple nights while scoping out Laurel and a lot of the Home Town stuff. Digs and food were great. Our host Earl knew all of the local history as well as stuff from the show; he's a great raconteur! Location was perfect too. I highly recommend stopping in at Wisteria in Laurel. read more

Great location, breakfast was excellent accommodations were good. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars was our bedroom did not have an attached bathroom and I could hear the owners television all night long. They finally turned it off at5:30 am. Would definitely go back in another room. Enjoyed talking to the owner very much. read more

Just returned from a 2-night stay at the Wisteria Bed and Breakfast in Laurel. The grand old home was something in its day - the dining and living rooms are still beautiful - but it needs a good cleaning, an exterminator, and the upstairs bedrooms an overhaul. Earl, the host, is very friendly and knows all about the history of Laurel. However, we did not get the room we requested upon making our reservation. We found 2 dead roaches in the bedroom. The tiny, add on bathroom hasn't been deep cleaned in years and the wood roach racing across the floor was not a welcome sight!!!! If you only care about the excellent location, go for it, but if cleanliness, comfort and modern amenities matter, stay away. We did look to move to another B&B nearby but it was full and we were already charged for both nights the moment we checked in. read more

WISTERIA BED AND BREAKFAST On a recent trip to Laurel, MS, I was privileged to stay at the Wisteria Bed and Breakfast. The home was built in 1901 and converted into a Bed and Breakfast in 2004. As of this writing, the Wisteria is the only Bed and Breakfast in Laurel and is on the National Register of Historic Places. I can honestly say that I haven't seen many purple houses in my day, but it perfectly fits the personality of the Wisteria. Each room is chocked full of period furniture and decor. From the knickknacks to the rugs, each piece feels like it fits this home. Peggy, our hostess, did an excellent job of decorating this historic home. Transplanted from Georgia, Peggy's southern drawl dripped with hospitality. We sat and visited with Peggy for quite a while and I found her voice to be so soothing. If you're not careful, you might find yourself saying "ya'll" like a true southerner after visiting with Peggy! As for accommodations, there are only three rooms available so reservations are definitely needed. Our room was upstairs and had a private bathroom just outside our door. We had central air but also had a window unit if more air was needed. One piece not historically period, was a television. We never turned it on, but some people want the amenity so I'm including it in the detail. Breakfast is included each morning in the formal dining room or sunroom, depending on the number of guests. A southern, home cooked breakfast is offered along with coffee and juice. You'll know it's time for breakfast when the smell of bacon wafts up the stairway. We were in the south, so it goes without saying that grits were on the menu! The breakfast presentation was as beautiful as it was delicious. The Wisteria is within a short walking distance of downtown and in a neighborhood of other stately homes. You might want to just stroll the neighborhood but beware of the uneven sidewalks! Those beautiful trees that provide a canopy of the neighborhood comes at a price! Downtown Laurel has several shops and restaurants to discover and within walking distance so you might not even need a car! After your tour of Laurel, you might want to just sit out on the veranda of the Wisteria and listen to the birds chirp and smell the magnolia tree blossoms. It's a great place for rest and refeshment. read more

My husband and I, along with my BIL and SIL, traveled to Laurel Ms recently and stayed at this amazing B&B. Mr. Earl was gracious and the perfect host, and his home is absolutely stunning. He shared so much information about the history of Laurel, his home, and gave us great suggestions regarding what to see and do. The home was beautiful, with many antiques and a wonderful southern feel. After a wonderful day seeing the sights and eating some amazing foods, we relaxed on the beautiful back patio. The next morning, we were served a delicious breakfast of fruit, eggs, grits, biscuits with Mayhaw jelly, and quite possibly the best bacon I've ever had. The Wisteria B&B was as beautiful as the pictures shown on the website. It was as if I stepped back in time. The room we stayed in was elegant and cozy. We had a private bath. It was truly relaxing. Earl and Peggy, the owners made us feel very much at home. breakfastcwas served on beautiful china. We stayed at Wisteria for 5 day. Every morning Earl cooked and served the most delicious southern breakfast. The French toast would make your mouth water. Earl is a delight to talk to and is very knowledgeable about Laurel. He exudes southern hospitality . We enjoyed our stay and we're very well taken care of during our stay. read more
