Breakfast at Waffle House is less of a meal and more of a cultural event. We walked in to the sound of a sizzling griddle, the clatter of plates, five different conversations and clanking of twenty forks. We were Met at the door by Tony the Door Coordinator. He got us seated as soon as he completed bussing the table. Ms Queen quickly an efficiently took our Order while appearing to be focused on four other events. Our eggs were all done correctly in neat little circles on the plate, hash browns arrived in a form of organized chaos--scattered, smothered, covered, and possibly blessed by the breakfast gods themselves. The grits, sausage and crispy bacon were exactly what we were hoping for when we walked in. While watching the grill I could not help but admire the two short-order cooks moving like seasoned dancers in a greasy, well-worn ballet. One slaps down bacon with a sizzle, the other flips eggs mid-air, never breaking rhythm. The griddle hisses, spatulas clink, and plates slide down the counter in a choreographed routine they honed to a science. It's delicious. It's greasy. It's slightly chaotic. These yellow neon lit buildings have fed countless road weary travelers, families with laughing children in tow, late night revelers and people from every walk of life. My go to choices are either the patty melt or one of their egg and meat breakfast options. But for me the big allure here has always been their hash browns. You can get the hash browns topped with a variety of toppings, you can't go wrong with chili and cheese, but really it is whatever talk to your heart. I guess you might find it odd that I have never had the waffles at a business where waffle is in their very name of the business but I am just not into the sweet type breakfasts. Whether waffles are your thing or not, I would recommend visiting a Waffle House, this location or any of their locations. read more

I was greeted at the door by Tony, and several other employees said good morning to me. Summer was my waitress, and she did an excellent job asking care of me. I've always loved Waffle House. I was born in Mobile and dined in them often when I lived there, but for the last 23 years I've lived in Michigan. Waffle House is always my first food stop whenever I drive south. I find it very entertaining watching the cooks, and Jerry is master of his trade at the Evergreen restaurant. Great food and service, guys! Kudos! read more

Waffle House. You know what you're getting. However, I got more than I expected. 1. Very clean and well-run place. I arrived a perfect time so finding a seat was no issue. 2. The food was great and honestly the best I've ever had at a Waffle House. I have no idea why but it really was fantastic. 3. The best part, was the greeter, Tony. He was friendly, enthusiastic, and a great person to have on their staff. Give this man a raise and make sure not to lose him. I travel from eastern shore to Atlanta's a couple times a month and on my way to and from I always stop here at this location.because of the friendly service the food orders are always right and they are the only Waffle House I could go to and count on them to be open and serving. Every WH in Georgia would tell me so many times they were on break and not serving and they would just sit in their cars in the parking lot for hours. No one wanted to work at all at Georgia locations but this one location in alabama they totally never stepped down. I am a regular customer. Usually, the service is great. Tonight, I came in uniform. Very rarely have I ever been treated like I was tonight. Our waitress spent more time cackling with the other waitresses in the corner or smoking than they did working. We asked for a to go plate and were completely ignored. I never got a refill on my coffee. When other customers came in, they were taken care of immediately. Apparently, veterans are unwelcome at this restaurant. read more
