Night shift is terrible except the cooks. Customer service from cashier and waiters suck. Always gets order wrong

I just rolled my eyes because i was vibing with this place. Service: when we got here it was a Sunday morning/afternoon definitely brunch time. We walking in was seated immediately. The DJ was definitely a good vibe. Our waitress Stoni was the absolute sweetest. Gave GREAT suggestions. Ambiance: The space isnt too big but also isn't too small. Nice brunch spot. You can sit at the bar, grab a booth/table, or even a table for 2 outside. The DJ was definitely good and was definitely a VIBE! Food: OMGG!!! FOOD WAS BUSSIN'. I ordered the jerk wings and sweet potato waffles and lord have mercy it was GOOD!!!! I thought the Sweet potato would be cooked into the waffle but it was below it and it was amazing like that. The jerk was not spicey to me but you could taste it. My husband ordered the fish and grits. He didnt do much talking when the food came. He said the sauce the came with the grits was good. We also ordered drinks. We both ordered the Georgia Peach I had strawberry and he had mango. Oh the drinks lol yaaaa bartender A1!!! Dont walk, RUN!!!!

Party of 17 for a Mother's Day weekend brunch at Gritz Brunch Bar…read more Upon arrival, the young gentleman at the front stated he was unaware of our large party reservation. He did work to prepare tables for us, although he seemed hesitant to combine all of the tables together for the group. Unfortunately, the floors were noticeably dirty, and the staff appeared to make a last-minute attempt to clean the area as we were being seated. Our server was kind and pleasant, but the service lacked attentiveness in several areas. A few members of our party were initially overlooked when orders were being taken, and some drinks never arrived without gentle reminders. On the positive side, everyone eventually received their meals. Now, the food itself? Absolutely amazing overall. The flavor, temperature, portion sizes, and quality were impressive. Most of our group thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The only consistent complaint came from a few people who ordered the French toast -- they felt it lacked flavor and thought the issue may have been more about the bread selection than the preparation itself. Despite the service and cleanliness concerns, this is still a spot worth trying. The staff would greatly benefit from additional customer service training -- smiling, checking on guests regularly, and maintaining engagement with customers goes a long way, especially when the restaurant is nearly empty. Our group was practically the only large party dining there for close to two hours. The cleanliness also needs immediate improvement. First impressions matter, and honestly, a food critic or health professional might have walked out based solely on the condition of the floors upon entry. That said, we're genuinely glad we chose Gritz as our 2026 Mother's Day Saturday brunch destination. The food made the experience worthwhile, and we absolutely plan to return. Hopefully management receives this feedback in the spirit it's intended -- constructive, honest, and hopeful for improvement.

My friends have tried attending and found the music level too loud & left. If it's supposed to be a restaurant, then maybe save the loud music til after 9 for the club vibe? ‍ We came for dinner Sunday, 7/27/25. There was a good mix of R&B & hip hop, with more R&B, I'd say. My husband, "can't do boopity-boo," and was able to hang in there until bingo. I'l come back to that. I ordered the Baldwin Hills, which was fruity, but strong. The bartenders need to get on the same page tho, because the 1st one was definitely better than the 2nd one. I'm from LA & Baldwin Hills is above the area where I grew up, so I had to represent with that drink. Normally, I'm a whiskey/bourbon lady, but vodka is my white liquor preference so I was good. The food is good. We started with the jerk chicken eggrolls. It was definitely fried hard, or maybe refried from earlier? Idk. It was not as light as the picture. Due to the lighting & how hard they were fried, I had to do some editing to make them visible. The server said they weren't too spicy. They come in 4 pieces. The 1st piece I had was definitely mild. My husband said they had a kick when he bit into his, but I didn't get that...that is until I had the 2nd one! Whew! All the spice was in that piece! I'd say slightly spicier than a little kick. They were tasty tho. We both waited a while for our entrees. The table next to us, also only with a couple had their food come out before ours, though they came in as we were finishing our appetizer I think. We'd already placed our entree order by the time they came. The server apologized for the delay on our food and said it would be out in a few minutes. It was more like 10-15 minutes before they brought out his entree. The person who brought it out, maybe the manager?, said she didn't want his food to get cold waiting on mine to come out. It took another 10-15 minutes, if not longer, for my food to come out, with no explanation. My husband ordered the fried catfish entreè with spinach & rice pilaf. He enjoyed his food. His only issue was not having 2 fillets. As you can see the piece you get is sizable, soooo, if you have a big appetite, maybe also get the catfish on the happy hour too to supplement the meal. ‍ I'm trying to get into salmon & the honey bourbon salmon was good. It wasn't overly sweet and it didn't taste fishy, like salmon sometimes can. The spinach is good also. I had to send the potatoes back because they were not hot. As long as I waited for my food, I wasn't expecting lukewarm food. The server quickly brought out some hot potatoes and they were good. They have bingo on Sunday night @ 8; or at least it was 8-something that's night. Initially, the dj said it was an R&B bingo, but when the bingo paper was passed out, it had hip hop on it too. I'm familiar with some hip hop, but don't know all the artists' names, lol. It was still fun, but I knew I probably wasn't going to win lol. We sang during the songs (had to ID the artist on the bingo card), and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I'm glad to have this option in Douglasville and glad it's still here after a few years when some other restaurants have closed. They are also open late, which is good, as most restaurants in the area close at 9 or 10. I'd ask the owner to consider a grown and sexy night or an over 35 night with good R&B music that's played at a level that can be enjoyed and allowed conversation to flow. A line dance night would also be good. I met the owner when the 1st location in Atlanta opened on Edgewood. It just so happened we had family in town visiting from LA. They gave him the business lol about the drink names and the place, but really enjoyed the vibe. I'm glad to see the business flourishing and in multiple states. I wish continued success and that there will be some acceptance of the feedback provided.

We ordered our usual: fried jumbo shrimp for me and my husband, and a bacon smash burger for my son. The "jumbo" shrimp were anything but jumbo. They were small, closer to popcorn shrimp, which feels like false advertising. The burger was also noticeably smaller than it used to be and, to make matters worse, it was missing the bacon entirely and the rest of the toppings were wrong as well. I understand food costs may have increased, but I would rather pay more than see quality and accuracy decline. This was a big disappointment, and we won't be back.

The grits were perfect- you know the grits are good when you eat them with a fork. Had a strawberry mimosa and water to wash things down. The large quantity of food really filled me up so that I had to take some of my flounder home with me. The service was GREAT! The people are so friendly from the moment you walk in. Great place and I will be back to try the rest of the menu.
