Chain restaurant... like 2,100 locations! Just driving through the Gulf Coast we counted six Waffle House restaurants within a few miles from each other. What is up with this chain... we finally stopped and dined in one to check it out. No hostess service, we sat ourselves in the dining room. Our friendly (and patient) server came to our table but we needed some time to look over the menu. It was just a simple menu, back-to-back, but it was busy I didn't know where to begin. When we finally decided she came back and took our orders. I ordered from the breakfast side. While I only wanted my hash browns "plain" I saw that you can have a variety of toppings added to them (onions, cheese, ham, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, chili, and sausage gravy) or you can request for your hash browns "All the way" which includes all those toppings I mentioned. I've never heard of such a thing... need to expand my palate adventures. I tried the grilled mushrooms with it. I had a simple 2-egg bacon breakfast with an extra side order of more bacon (total 6 bacons). Bacon makes my day. So good! We had such a pleasant first time experience that I'm a fan of Waffle House. Most of the locations are in the South... like a cultural icon of some sort. The closest one to me would be in AZ, next is in TX. Each restaurant is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It's casual dining that served classic American food. Review #1723

Very friendly staff and welcoming when you walk in. Sat down and waitress said our server would be with us shortly but she got us our drinks. Time went by and no one came so she came back and said she would help us. Got our food in great time. And she also checked on us if we needed anything. Her name is J Dubs. Thank you for making our first time Waffle House a good one. Now for the food. Waffle was good. We had the patty melt and the hashbrown bowl. Sausage was real good and egg cooked perfectly. They do not use fresh mushroom, it's canned and they don't used shredded cheese, it's melted sliced. Other than that, it works

typical waffle house - cheap fast diner food. they had your run of the mill waffles, hashbrowns, grits, breakfast platters, along with with burgers and sandwiches. tried a garden salad and hashbrowns and it was decent. service was polite and friendly.

The cook keeps this place freezing cold in the 50's and she said with sarcasm, "we'll I'm fine and not cold".

Liz came by the table to say hi to my mother in law and to meet us all. I started my meal with a spicy Bloody Mary and then had the Seafood Scramble with Spicy Hollandaise and a side of Cheesy Grits. The scramble had a good amount of eggs and seafood and the sauce had a nice level of seasoning. I would've loved to have the biscuit that came but I saved it for my son since he can eat gluten. That biscuit looked soft and fluffy. I loved my egg dish. My son had a Cheeseburger with Sweet Potato Fries and my brother in law had the Grilled Cheese and Crab Sandwich. They both looked great and apparently were delicious. The Shrimp and Grits and Debris Eggs Benedict were awesome too. We will definitely be back on our next trip if not another day this week.

Liz's exterior appears a little downtrodden and parking a bit limited, but inside is welcoming with a bright and shiny Louisiana ambiance. We had excellent service and Liz herself dropped by and welcomed us. We ordered a variety of specialties, with me enjoying an egg scrambler with all the trimmings, my wife having a sumptuous roast beef po'boy and my son having a burger and fries. All were very good and our iced tea glasses were never allowed to be empty. We were seated immediately, but business is brisk and you may need to be prepared to wait at peak times. We look forward to returning!

I've only ever had their breakfast here, but they do SUCH a great job, I'll have to come back for their lunches too It's a casual eatery that always seems to be fairly popular. Everything is very reasonably priced, so yummy, and their portions are generous. You'll go home full without completely emptying your wallet I highly recommend their "Poor Man's Benedict" ($10). It's SO good! It comes with their freshly baked biscuit topped with fried chicken and a poached egg, smothered in their homemade sausage gravy. The biscuit is soft, the eggs are perfect, their fried chicken is flavorful and well-seasoned, and the gravy is savory and just makes it feel like comfort food. You really can't miss out on their fried chicken. I know what you're thinking, fried chicken first thing in the morning? Trust me though, it's DELISH and you won't regret it! If you're really hungry, I suggest the "Chicken Fried Platter" ($13). It's very similar to the Benedict, but it comes with an extra side. We tried the hashbrowns and they were yum. Crispy surface and soft on the inside. Just the way I like 'em!

After about 15 minutes, I walked to the waitress station and politely asked for a menu; the response was an eye roll with menus "shoved" at me in an aggravated manner. Regardless, I thanked her. Soon, the same young waitresscame over and took our drink orders (waters) nicely, but then she left the back room where we were seated and did not return! Whaa? I never saw her again, so we have it another 15 min and gave up. We looked for our angry waitress as we walked through to leave hoping she, or anyone, might notice we were leaving, but nothing. The restaurant was crowded and diners seemed happy enough so perhaps we simply got the wrong person in the wrong moments. However, since I'm from out-of-state, this is the impression I will forever have of La Pines Cafe.
