The food quality here has been consistently good over the years. The burgers are always fresh and have just the right amount of condiments and toppings. The fries are good and plentiful and always seasoned. Sometimes I get an apple pie side and it has always been warm and crispy. My go-to is the Sweet and Spicy Bacon Burger, and my second favorite (when they have it) is the Mushroom Swiss Burger. Their breakfast taquitos are also great and at least 2-3x bigger than the burritos at McDonald's. The problem with this location is the service. It is notoriously slow, like completely unacceptable for a drive-thru location. I regularly spend a solid 30 minutes waiting in line here. They have two windows, but the second is never open, which tells me they are perpetually understaffed here. More than one occasion, I have spent nearly an hour waiting in the drive thru line because you get trapped inside the loop. The entrance forces you into a narrow curving lane beside a fence, and you simply can't get out if there are cars in front of and behind you. Otherwise, they'd probably have more people drive off because they are tired of waiting. I don't know what is going on here, but it has been that way for years. The food is so good that I've just accepted it won't be fast, and on the rare occasion that I roll through the line like most any other drive thru, I feel like buying a lottery ticket on the way home. I have an issue with extremely slow service at the Gulfport Mississippi location. We ordered on the app, but the line of the drive-through is seven cars deep and it's not because of the high demand but because of the slow service here. It is 11:40 PM on a Friday night and none of the cars are moving. No one is getting any service here. unacceptable. read more

I'm not sure what the expectation for decent customer service is in Gulfport but the bar must be set very low. The girl at the register gave us a look like we were killing her dog. Malajiah M. had that look like she would rather be anywhere but here at Whataburger. The inside of the restaurant was filthy. We had to wipe down our own table. It makes sense because the same awesome employee that did not greet us as we walked in, acted like we were bothering her is the same employee responsible to clean the filth inside this establishment. Went to this location after choosing it over Burger King since I was craving a burger. The wait time was very slow with only one car in front of me. I was asked to wait to place my order, so I assume the server was busy with other things. Placing my order and at the window, the server had 0 customer service skills or really even cared. Truthfully I understand bad days however, eventually you learn how to separate bad days from individuals. The burger was fine for the most part, I imagined it to be a thicker patty than it was. The fries tasted very old. I only ate a couple and just threw them away. Maybe one day I'll give them another chance, but next time I'll just choose Burger King. read more

I do a service delivering food to people in many different locations. This particular order had extra large top heavy sodas which fall over very easily using a single cup holder. So I asked for a second one from the manager which would help greatly with cups that are way too large for a single cup holder and I was refused and the managers excuse was her bonus???? Really so I have to keep one hand on the sodas instead of the steering wheel which is a safety hazard to keep the sodas from falling over?? Because she's worried about her bonus?? What do they cost whataburger?? 1/2 cent?? You want to risk your customers satisfaction and driver safety and a possible lawsuit over an extra cup holder??? Huge burgers! Surprisingly yummy burgers... and they're big likening to Nation's Giant Hamburgers. I've been wanting to try them but their main stronghold is in the South. We don't have this in Cali, do we? Maybe in SoCal like where most of the restaurants and food places venture first? We have In-N-Out where it has gained a cult-like following. Anyway, I digress... I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger. It came with two beef patties, two slices of melted cheese and two layers of grilled mushrooms topped with the yummy creamy au jus sauce on a lightly toasted soft warm bun. Drooling as I write... Whataburger is always good, but this visit was a bit less good than I'm used to. The wait at the drive through was more than twenty minutes, although I get that I was there at lunch. I asked for a Whataburger with cheese and chocolate malt, but I was given the meal instead. They fixed it at the window when I explained the mix-up, so I appreciate that. The chocolate malt had a bit of mint flavor to it, which is understandable given the same machines being used, but it was still a bit weird. All told, it was still good and I can't really fault an overworked staff for making a few mistakes that, at the end of the day, were fairly minor. read more

Okay, where I live, we do not have a Whataburger. But man, WHAT A BURGER! Everything we tried was delicious. The pick de Gallo burger was to die for, the French fries were salty and fresh and amazing, the Jalapeño burger was the bomb dot com, and even the chocolate chunk cookies were yummy. To say I wish my city had one is an understatement. I even told a local at Walgreens that I just tried Whataburger for the first time and he thought I was crazy. This was my first time being close to a Whataburger and I had to give it a shot. I decided to order a Strawberry Shake, Sweet & Spicy burger, 9 pc chicken bites, and onion rings. Everything was nice and hot. The onion rings were crispy as well. The chicken bites were big pieces. I had the honey butter sauce to dip which was good. The burger was more sweet than spicy but it was good. Strawberry shake was thick and just right. This is a great casual fast food restaurant mainly made famous in Texas and started in Corpus Christi I believe? Let me know if I'm wrong. Definitely a Texas staple tho! The inside is very clean and beat inside. Seats are comfortable but no bottom padding but just the back on the benches tho. More comfortable than the regular chairs tho. In my opinion. They offer many great fast food options. I'm especially a fan of the taquitos and the honey butter chicken biscuit for breakfast and the Texas patty melt. They are offering banana pudding milkshake (limited time) for a limited time. Definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for a milkshake. I love the service you get there. Especially at this location. One unique thing I love about this place. They give you a number card when you are done ordering. They bring you the food to you. They even come afterwards and ask you if you want condiments; especially no one I know that offers spicy ketchup at a fast food restaurant, and etc. Not many fast food restaurants do that. The service you get there is top notch. Little busy off highway 49 especially during lunch time I noticed but they are quick about getting the food to you as fast as possible. We ordered the Texas patty melt, banana pudding milkshake (medium), double meat Whataburger(no pickles) with cheese, and fries. No WiFi or military discount that I know of. Me and my girlfriend pulled up at 2:19 AM. There was a decent line of cars in the drive thru. It took about 15-20 minutes to get our order taken. The girl taking our order seemed frustrated. I tried being very thorough and with a calm and nice tone, to ease the annoyance. She asked for what drink we would like, I said it clearly, but she responded with "WHAT?" The tone, and just basis of replying that way as an order taker doesn't show professionalism. We also had 4 cars ahead of us. We did not get our food until 3:07. It took a whopping 48 minutes to buy and receive food....This doesn't make me want to recommend or come back. read more

First let me say we have loved Whataburger for years. Tonight we had the worst meal. The patty melt had zero flavor. There was about a quarter teaspoon of sauce and about 8 tiny pieces of onion and the Texas toast was so dry I had to drink something after every bite. My husbands burger bun was gooey. This was probably the best drive-thru experience I have ever had. I was already unsure about what to order since I only had $6 with me in change, but Austin (the man who took my order) helped me pick out something that was in my price range. I ended up getting a patty melt w/ 1 patty, which bumped the price down about $2 making it about $5.75. He was super nice and helpful, and when I pulled up to the window, I realized I had an extra dollar in my wallet. I tried giving it to him for a tip, but he kindly refused. He told me to keep it and look after myself, then afterwards handed me my food and wished me a good night. Mind you, this was 1:30 am. I never thought anyone would be so proactive to assist me with my order the way he did, especially in the middle of the night. He might have been the manager, but I'm not sure. People from California rant and rave about In and Out Burger being God's gift to mankind. If you want to maintain your CA street cred, don't ever eat at Whataburger. It will change your life. This Whataburger is located north of I-10 in Gulfport, MS. If you happen to be travelling through, exit, and head north. When you think you have missed it, keep going, and you will find it on your right. This location is a great one. Because it is further from the interstate than other stores, it is less crowded. Less crowded is much better in my book and that is certainly true here. Service is quick, friendly, and you're in and out (see what I did there), in a matter of minutes. If you don't know what to get, let me advise you. Order a double with cheese and make sure you get extra ketchup. Since they don't offer bottled water you will get a massive Styrofoam container of tap water like god intended. Put the ketchup packet on top of the drink and dip your fries as you drive. I'm not advocating you do this if you are a no driving rando. Only try this if you can drive one handed and dip without taking your eyes off of the road. Know why you will need to dip and drive? The Whataburger ketchup is the best fast food ketchup on earth. Sure it has high fructose corn syrup, but you're already eating a bajillion calories. Just roll with it. Once you have eaten all your fries, dig into that awesome burger. I have no idea why these burgers are better than other chains, but they are. Instead of onion slices, you get onion chunks. Again, this may not sound like a big deal, but trust me, it is. Whatever other sorcery they do also works as this is the best fast food burger on planet earth. Don't believe me? It doesn't matter. What a burger indeed! I tried the Bacon Avocado special, my friend the Triple, and my date the Grilled Cheese. All went home happy. Fries are tasty; cookies are passable. What stood out to me at Whataburger was the friendly and exceptional service we received. Every employee we encountered was smiling and affable and genuine. As a fat kid, I have been doing my damnedest to "collect them all" of the iconic fast food joints around the US. White Castle? CHECK. Steak N Shake? CHECK. In N Out? CHECK. Jack in the Box? CHECK. and now...Whataburger. CHECK. Obviously I had to go big since I don't do fast food often-so I got the double patty melt with onion rings and a lemonade to drink. First off-when the lady asks if you want SPICY ketchup, say HECK YES. So. Darn. Good. I devoured the patty melt. I was expecting it to be a dry patty mess but the meat was tender and juicy-and not overwhelmingly fatty. The onion rings tasted super fresh and hot and dipped in that spicy ketchup...it was on point. Not to be a debbie downer...but after exploring what America has to offer in fast food stuffs-I can say Whataburger is great-but it just doesn't cut it past In-N-Out.
