The food was good and service was great, BUT the cooks and food handlers need to wear hair nets....

I was…read moreimpressed as soon as I pulled up the outside looks very regal and statuesque and then the ambience inside is beautiful. It has a tropical southern classic feel. I I decided to get the butterfly cocktail. Really I wasn't impressed with it. It was not strong, came in a plastic cup and was underwhelming. I shared food with friends. We got the fried catfish and shrimp combo with mashed potatoes. We also got the suya beef skewers with sautéed vegetables and macaroni and cheese and greens. I was most impressed with the fried catfish. It was delicious and I'd recommend it. You won't be disappointed. The mashed potato were ok. The greens and macaroni and cheese were tasty. The service was good. Our server did a good job with our large group. Be aware if you have a large group gratuity will be included. On Sunday the entertainment is Don Diego jazz band. Overall it was a great time and a place with many photo opportunities.

It was fun and the music vibe was great. My only dislike on bingo was that they gave away the answers (but I can be a little competitive so most people probably like that). As for the food, they have decent happy hour selections and happy hour lasts all night on Thursdays. We ordered the catfish nuggets, suya, and deviled eggs. The last two were not on HH but were well priced. I enjoyed each dish but thought the suya steak could be slightly more tender. I definitely plan to return and to bring others as it seems like a fun spot.

The waitress was kind enough to help us with the menu and make recommendations for our kiddo. Casual place, amazing food! I had the huevos con carne asada - SO GOOD! The salsa verde - SO GOOD! Fajitas and good times!…read more I saw this place initially advertised on facebook with their $1.99 margarita's. I mean ONLY $1.99?! Decided to go here for lunch since it wasn't that far from me. Definitely a hole in the wall GEM. So many specials and the prices are very reasonable from breakfast-lunch-dinner. They start you off with chips, queso and salsa. One of my first times seeing 'queso' as a dish along with salsa. Usually it's an extra charge. I had the mango margarita which was pretty good! Happy Hour is from 2-10p Monday-Thursday, and lunch specials are served ALL DAY! I had the Tuesday special which was Trio Fajitas (beef, shrimp, chicken) with beans and rice - only $14.75. The meat was very flavorful but wasn't a big fan of the refried beans. Plenty of food, especially for the price. The staff was kind, explained the specials without asking and gave their suggestions. I'm surprised this place isn't as packed with the prices they advertise. A quiet establishment during lunch hour. I will definitely be coming back.

I pass by it all the time on the way to the gym, and finally decided to try it today for the first time. We ordered the Mango Lassi, Butter Chicken, Allepey Prawns, Garlic Naan, Butter Naan, Roti, Mint Chutney, Raita, and Lasooni Gobi. Everything was really good here, and I can't wait to come back to try new dishes. I usually always go for the usual at Indian restaurants, such as the tikka masala, butter chicken, samosas, etc. but we decided to try the Allepey Prawns since we've never had it before, and it ended up being one of our favorite dishes we tried tonight. Next time we plan on trying their Palak Paneer and Biriyani, and this lollipop chicken I keep seeing all over Yelp. Nayal was our server, and he was very patient and attentive with us since we took forever to order. All of the staff here was pretty friendly actually. This location is across from Walmart on Uptown Blvd. The Lasooni Gobi was also really good, their cauliflowers still had a slight crisp even when they were sauced up, and was very flavorful and fragrant. Out of all of their naans the Roti was the crispiest, the garlic was really flavorful, and the butter/original naan was a nice balance of both slightly crispy and soft, pairs well with all of the dishes. The ambiance is nice and quiet but with a good volume of music playing in the background, which accommodates the vibe lounge since they offer wine and beer. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Ah, the Waffle House, the shining beacon of late night decision making gone bad. If you end up here…read moreat 1 AM, congratulations you're hungry, exhausted, mildly unhinged, or all three. Fortunately, Waffle House accepts all emotional states equally. They actually accept just about anything. Parking? Absolutely everywhere. Which is great because the only thing worse than your 1 AM craving is to have to parallel park. But then again, this is Desoto. Breakfast is good anytime of the day, especially when it's grits and eggs with bacon and toast. And you add a side of waffle, watch out. Because ordering at the waffle house feels less like a choice and more like a legal obligation. Their grits are exactly what you expect. Warm, comforting, and just as cohesive enough to remind you that you're indeed still alive. The eggs were well, eggs, and bacon was bacon and toast was toast. And that's exactly what I expect when walking into a waffle house, the ancient art of "it is what it is." Take it or leave it. And then there's the adventurous side, a chilly hash brown situation. Did I go "all the way"? No I'm not brave enough to stare into that abyss. Instead I opted for a cheese steak melt hash, brown bowl, scattered, smothered, and covered, topped with chili, basically an egg away from fully loaded judgment. It arrived looking like something that belongs in a museum, dedicated to questionable midnight choices, but taste like comfort, chaos, and cholesterol harmony. And the service? It's just like being at home, depending on your home. Could be warm and friendly, could be begrudgingly and indifferent, it could be someone yelling in the background about something unrelated. It's the full Waffle House experience, unpredictably inconsistently consistent. Overall, it's exactly what it promises to be. No frills, no pretense, no shame. Just carbs, chili, waffle, and choices. You can only justify 24 hours a day. Will I go back? Should I go back? Probably will probably shouldn't.

The smoke from the kitchen basically consumed the dining area and was very irritating. It eventually dissipated after a while, but I wouldn't recommend infants in this environment. After our party was seated, it took 15-20 min before our waiter greeted us and provided water; that was a bit annoying. After we got our orders in, things were smooth sailing from there. We were a large party and our waiter did a pretty good job at managing us and all of our requests. Food: they do not waste time bringing the food out. Most of our orders came out within 10 minutes! I ordered the Short Rib (unfortunately not pictured). It was hot, tender, and seasoned well....very good. It came on a bed of rice and some type of sauce. I was not a fan of either. The rice seemed uncooked and the sauce was too much and very liquid. It drowned the rice and practically made it soupy. I would have been fine with just the short rib. I also ordered a side of black eyed peas... also not a fan. It was undercooked and I didn't love whatever seasoning was used to prepare it. Other items I tried: Fries, Cornbread, Yams, and Soul Rolls. These were all tasty, specifically the soul roll. It came out crispy, hot, and stuff proportionately. I could take every bit of what was inside. It's definitely a must try.

The place was fully booked, but the hostess saved the day and offered us lounge seating on the sofas. Honestly, it felt a little VIP...like we'd accidentally wandered into the cool kids' corner. I halfway considered putting on my sunglasses indoors just to commit to the moment, maybe even asking if they offered bottle service in the lounge. Within 10 minutes we were settled in and already getting excellent service. And as if the vibe wasn't good enough, there was a one‑man show crooning jazzy tunes in the background. He was smooth, talented, and added just the right soundtrack for an early dinner. Think "speakeasy energy," but suburban‑friendly. Now, the food. My husband ordered the Crunchy Pig sandwich, my sister went for the half rack of ribs, and I claimed the smoked turkey BLT. Everything hit the table about 20 minutes later, hot, fresh, and so lip‑smacking tasty that we inhaled every bite before remembering we meant to take pictures. My apologies to the food‑photo purists; trust me, the plates were camera‑ready before we destroyed them. If you find yourself wandering around The District in Midlothian, do yourself a righteous favor and grab a memorable meal here. Great food, great service, great music, and apparently great sofas.
