Still my favorite boba place in Evanston. The order ahead and pick-up option is super convenient…read more When you order in person, the egg waffle can sometimes take a bit so I recommend just doing pick up. This place is known for their cheese foam and lemon teas so I highly recommend giving those a try. There aren't a lot of seats in the shop so most people just sit for a bit and then move on. It's not a place you and sit and study for a while. The employees are very nice and professional.

Typically, my reservations about bubble tea places are the following: 1) huge menu, no vegan…read moreoptions, and 2) half the boba don't fit up the straw. Neither is an issue at Happy Lemon, where you can substitute in oat milk or almond milk. And whether the boba are smaller or the straws are bigger, it just works -- you're not left with a cup full of boba when you finish the drink. This place is a good go-to for drinks and snacks, so much so that I'd choose it over nearby competitors.

Found out about this better than mid restaurant in Evanston. It may not be that big of a place but…read moreit has a surprisingly big menu if you can believe it. Mid Kitchen has a pretty big variety. Get something meaty or something plant based. The prices are pretty high but that's to be expected for the location and quality. Came at lunch. It's actually a pretty small place so it's always packed. There's only a few tables. At least that means people like it. Usually there's a long wait. A while later and we finally got one. It's about $15 for a sandwich, which is a lot but it's great stuff. I got the Vegan Club. This has avocado, along with plant based versions of bacon, chicken, and mayonnaise, along with lettuce and tomatoes. She got the Vegan BLT. This is almost the same thing but simpler. Got to say it has limited hours and space, which are the bad things about it along with it being expensive. It's got a lot for breakfast and lunch. They're closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
