Yes there is a 1/2 mile walk to the trail and then 1/2 mile walk back to your parked car no biggie…read moredon't let that deter you from doing this hike. Agree there are better views in other parts of NH but this is ok. Bugs are vicious on certain parts of the trail and better off brining a bug net because someone else posted they don't care if you have bug spray I mean I even walked with can, I would still hike it though I prefer paid for parking on the website it's 5.00$ a person and you can use the whole state park for all day It was full of camps for swimming so if your not a fan of a lot of people maybe this lake is not for you Hope everyone enjoys there time there

Our walk/hike on the Shaw & Fundy Trails were perfect because they are well-trodden, pine-needle…read morecarpeted trails that were good for our sister who has a bad knee & can't handle trails with vertical climb, tree roots &/or rocky faces. The trails passed by marshes, over creeks &, at times, we had to navigate through areas that had some minimal flooding. Signage is practically non-existent, with arrows primarily @ intersections & also kind of confusing where the parking lots are for the trailheads. There is very little blazing on the trees but again, the trail directions are obvious. Not too much indication of wildlife, although, of course, we were in the thick of the trees. The folks at the Visitor Center are super friendly, knowledgeable & helpful.

We came in around july 4th as a new seasonal. My husband was paying monthly. Well when it came time…read moreto pay for the month of august our mortgage and the monthly payment was due. My husband payed our mortgage first. So the payment for camp would of been a few days late. At around 9 on saturday evening the guy (i will not say his name) came to my husband around 9 and said trailer needs to be pulled off the site. My husband tried sunday to reason with them and for our family to go home till it could be paid on friday. We where told it is unacceptable. We owed for the month there where campers there that owed way more than we did but its not the point is how can you tell a family at 9pm you have to pull your trailer and pack up and leave. So we pulled the trailer. There was not much for children to do anyways. There pond you can swim in has leaches. Our older son came out with one on his ankle. Your not allowed to have four wheelers unless you work there or are apart of there circle. We have since removed our trailer and it is at a new campground that is fantastic. So much more for our family. We swam in the lake last weekend and the best part came out with no leaches. Good luck to anyone who goes to 3 ponds cause if you have not been there for many years the staff and the campers (who have been there many years) put your nose up at you and treat you as they are better. Good luck to 3 ponds and thank you for kicking us out. Because we have found a fantastic campground.

I Highly recommend this place!!!This place is truly a family campground and is all about families,…read moreThey have activities every weekend such as kids/teen hayrides, Adult Bingo, Horse Shoes & Archery ,Car Races, Basketball, Teen Bocce, Adult Bocce, Cribbage, Make your own Sundaes, Fishing Derby, Craft Fair, Dog Show, and the biggest Bonfire ever,4th of July Fireworks & Dance, and almost every Sunday is a Breakfast buffet and Christmas in august and the whole campground is lighten up with Luminaries. I can't say enough great things about 3 Ponds, We went from HELL (Autumn Hills Campground in Weare NH) too HEAVEN at 3 Ponds Campground. The seasonal Campers are the kindness and most caring people you will ever meet along with the Staff and the owners they will go out of their way to help you and never ask for anything in returns. They do it because they truly want to. So Book your next camping trip at 3 Ponds Campground. THIS PLACE ROCKS!!!!!
