Beaver Dam Campground - Nice dog park!

I would recommend it if you have children and dogs who hunt and aren't afraid of gun fire. This is…read morea great campground for families. It is just the right size and has lots of activities for kids. I stayed here because my friends have a summer spot. My neighbors smoked, the others had loud music, and there is a firing range close by. My dog is terrified. We managed, of course! She had her safe spot with me in our tiny camper. Everyone was really nice. The staff were so kind. There are lots of trails in the area for hiking or you can just stay at the campground and swim, either in the pool or in the pond. They offer bike, kayak, and other rentals. There is a large rec area and a small store. The sites are clean and spacious. We enjoyed the Bark Park! I booked late - I think had I known I was going to camp this weekend and booked earlier - I could have booked a spot further away from all the action. That being said - the firing range is still a big deterrent for me because of my beloved dog. So if you want a nice place for your kids and don't mind the firing every night and all day Sunday - this is the spot for you!

Clean, neat, many things for kids to do. This is the cleanest, neatest campground that I have ever…read morebeen to. The restrooms are clean all the time even before the scheduled cleanings. When the kids get tired of the pool they go to the lake. Older kids can rent boats and paddle the lake. Mini golf was fun. We will come back next year. Today the kids started in the lake and then moved to the pool. I have been here for 2 weeks and have seen 2 pieces of litter. Some reviews say the staff is obsessive that may be so but the campground is full of happy campers and their kids. Back again in 2024. Verizon cell service 51mb on Speedtest with iPhone 14!

This is not your typical family friendly KOA. Although there are plenty of family friendly…read moreactivities, this campground is NOT for families. We booked Thursday through Sunday and had issues every evening. We had site 111 and on Thursday evening, several pre-teens, and teenagers were driving the golf carts like they were side-by -sides while others were riding their bikes without helmet at 10PM. Our site was by the bathroom, and we kept seeing these kids go in and out of the bathroom. The next morning, we woke to find the bathrooms were vandalized and closed all day on Friday. Friday late afternoon, the grownups on the neighboring site were playing cornhole which is a great game. However, these individuals were extremely loud and using vulgar language. The game got heated and these grown adults stated to wrestle due to some disagreement. Management came to the site and asked them to settle down. Shortly after their pre-teens and teenager arrived. The kids came by on the 4-person golf cart, yet 6 teenagers were on the cart. The driver then decided to do donuts with the golf cart right in front of my site. This was so close, dirt and rocks were kicking up all over, and if there lost control, they would have run my entire family over. Saturday night those neighbors left their pre-teen and teenagers at their site alone. At was 10PM and the kids were sitting by the fire and decided to take a leaf blower to the fire. The flames were shooting about 7 ft high and ember and coals sent aloft. I attempted to call the after-hours number, due to the safety issue to the entire campground, no one answered and no voice mail. I attempted to call again, same results. Luckily one of the teens recognized the danger and took the leaf blower away. Then the kid started to argue and like the parents, the language was offensive and in appropriate. Around 2AM another nieghor was so fed up with the this family partying they had to yell at them to go to bed. Now to the billing issues. We paid $59.99 to lock our site to insure my parents would be near us. Two weeks prior to the arrival date, I received a call stating a tree fell on the cabin and they had to move one of the sites. This was out of the campground control; however, they did not refund us the $59.99 for the site lock. When I looked over the bill, I noticed they charges us $10.00 per night for a pet fee, despite the fact we do not have pets. When I went to the office to report this, the lady told me the system automatically adds this fee because they are a pet friendly campground, and they forgot to remove it. When I complained about this, they informed me they credited me the $59.99 for the site lock and $30. for the pet free. Based on this business model, the KOA over charged us $89.99, which is essentially stealing from their customers. I will be writing to corporate to request a refund for both my sites.

Edited My Review After I read some of the other "1 Star" reviews and I realized....Sigh..... Sorry…read moreI just cannot sit back.... My Wife and I nervously booked a spot here. And I say we were nervous because Yelp and Google reviews are on at 3 - 3 1/2 stars... Someone posted a review the same time I was there and let me say I'm infuriated by people who put 1 star reviews for places as if you are the 1 "Snowflake" who did not get the royalty treatment from the site, and possibly even worse: the Weather.. To the people complaining about the duration of activities? Really? OK sure they are 4 hours long... but there are 5 different activities going on at the same time! How pitiful is it that people require a campground to entertain/babysit their kids. They gave you a schedule of the activities at check in...Plan accordingly... If that's too hard for you? How about entertaining yourselves with nature? Maybe even do what we did: bring Uno, play with your family. Sit in front of the fire, Talk to your kids, joke with them, Engage your family. Engage them with your friends! You know... Be human and adults... To the people complaining about the presence of college kids as Security.. Yeah I guess it's pretty sad that they have to do this to remind people of the rules that are clearly stated on their website, on the brochure, and on the map and paperwork handed to you at check in.. Personally I felt a little better knowing that rules are being enforced. I was able to drink my beer in front of the fire with music quietly playing and security walked by me 3-4 times during quiet hours and I said hi and they nodded to me... Games + Drinking after 11 are never quiet even if you think you are quiet.... Thus it was nice that My Kids are allowed to fall asleep because Security is reminding people of the rules... But enough about previous peoples complaints: From 9-5 there were various activities for the kids, Yes, each was only about 4 hours, but they give you a schedule at check-in to very easily plan accordingly. Thus, we did, and the kids enjoyed each of them.. It Rained on Saturday night...Heavily, My site filled with water... Ankle deep... Meh, It's Rain what are you gonna do.. It dried up after I dug a small trench to the road (Apologies to campground if this was a "No-No".) Others that it rained on had fun with it and floated in their sites. They knew how to have fun and make the best of the situation. Kids saw Santa (It was a Christmas in July Theme week.) and then they watched the movie afterward. My wife and I walked the campground and had a nice time while our oldest brought the 2 youngest to the movie. The Bathrooms smelled of Clorox. (This is a good thing) They could use paint but they smelled clean. I caught the staff in the middle of cleaning them. The Men's stalls are a bit claustrophobic but since they were clean I felt comfortable to do my business. It's very obvious they dumped a substantial amount of money on upgrading the power to every site on the north and west sites. Not sure how the south and east sites are as I did not get to walk that side. But a 30 amp receptacle for my camper and a separate 20 amp set of sockets was a very pleasant surprise. (BTW for the record the sites are separated by a road....That is NOT that busy.... ) the river was a bit low, but they spent money on the power and not a weather machine. (That' sarcasm BTW...) But we still enjoyed a nice lazy float down past our own site. This was a really nice bonus that I kind of had no idea would be a thing to do at the campground. So I asked the kids if they would want to come back... There was no hesitation from my 14 year old son. And my 2 youngest were excited of the prospect of returning.. So why only a 4 stars on this review? Because people automatically discard 5 Star reviews as made up... And yet people somehow take 1 star reviews seriously... I sometimes hate people (sarcasm)

I do not recommend any "Moose Tours" with Lucie. She stopped to asked the locals where to find moose and spoke endlessly about the types of trees in NH. No moose were spotted at all even after a desperate mosquito infested walk through the woods (yes, we had bug spray but it didn't make a difference). We were told "plan B" was to drive up and down the same highway at midnight to see if the moose were out. This was a surprise for my husbands birthday, It was a surprise for both of us! This was a complete waste of time and money.

Lucy met us in the morning and we went straight to the river. It was such a gorgeous and enjoyable ride and she was so pleasant and relaxed the whole way through. She gave us some simple tips on kayaking and also some nice information on some of the wildlife and history of the area. When we reached Lake Ossipee the wind was very strong which made the lake very choppy and her lead was so assuring in the challenge that lay ahead of us - she was awesome and we made it to the other side of the lake without any issues whatsoever. I would highly recommend Lucy if you want to experience a great day outdoors in the White Mountains
