There are individual trails off the main trail where you walk through mud, dirt, and thick brush, so keep that in mind. For the trails less traveled, look out for the spider webs! Some of the trails lead down to the river. There are playgrounds, a bathroom area (not sure if it was open), and a one big gazebo if you want to rent the space for an event. If you want to get a nice walk or run in without a lot of people, this park is perfect.

Probably my favorite park in Gwinnett this far. Plenty of gazebos and bathrooms if you want to have an outdoor event. Also plenty of parking throughout the park. They have tennis courts and a lot of other extracurricular activities and things you can sign up for. The park was still under construction when I went but as far as walking paths, the trails seem to be pretty short. I will definitely go back after construction is completed and then I would have a better idea. They are a lot of geese, ducks, and some other bird species but they seem to do a really good job of keeping the park clean especially from bird poop. I will definitely be back!

I love going there now especially in the evenings as it is the perfect close location to see beautiful sunsets. It has varied paths around the lake, around the pool area above and around the sports fields so you don't get bored walking. I love the fountain in the lake and the gazebo and all the birds that gather there. I wish the park area itself were bigger and not so close to a busy road as that takes away from the ambiance but Lenora Church Park has those features but the lake isn't nearly as pretty. I love watching the geese, the Muscovy and Mallard ducks and the shy blue heron who never lets me get a good picture of him. I notice all the birds love beautiful sunsets as much as I do and I have sat with them on the main lake taking pictures of them and watching as they slowly decide it is dark enough to get out as I imagine the youngest ones are being coaxed by mom to come on and get out of the water. My only issue is that the restrooms next to the lake keep getting vandalized and then locked and not repaired or even if they aren't vandalized they are being locked. That penalizes older folks like me who need access to facilities more often. Then yesterday I went and three separate restrooms were locked with no reason given why. If this is a staffing issue it should be addressed. If this is a safety issue as in there have been crimes committed and it is being done for safety then the park needs to notify the public. Otherwise if they keep the restrooms open I would give it a four star rating and five star if it were further from a busy road. I have lived in this area for 21 years and I hate that I waited till this last year to take advantage of something so close and I honestly love walking there otherwise. We have been using the pool as well every summer for 21 years. It needs repair. I understand they are adding a brand new complex that will include an indoor walking track and I am excited by that however the pool has had broken steps in the deep end and been rather dirty looking on the bottom especially last year. They also took away chairs years ago because of vandalism which again punishes the many for the actions of a few. The lifeguards seem to have less training as well throughout the years and enforce rules selectively and sometimes seem not to be paying attention at all to what's happening at the pool and seem bored. They often let people stay in the water on the side of the diving board after jumping off the diving board and no adults seem to be paying attention to whether they enforce rules or not or giving them guidance on how to enforce the rules. I don't say anything to the lifeguards anymore like I used to. I just pray no one gets hurt as they allow unsafe conditions to exist and are afraid to discipline pool goers for fear of looking uncool I guess. That is however their job and they should be supervised to do it correctly. The lifeguards also made people get out of the water fifteen minutes earlier than closing time. This year they made the adults as well as children get out for fifteen minutes every hour because they said they were understaffed and needed that to give breaks to the lifeguards. That's a ridiculous punitive rule for the paying public to have to go by. You should staff your pools so this isn't necessary. The other thing that bothered me is they hired armed guards to be at the pool this year. I know there have been shootings at the park but having armed guards and not knowing their training or whether or not they know how to deescalate situations was unnerving and I believe overkill. I would not place armed guards at a family public pool for any reason. This seems like it could escalate into violence or lead to someone getting shot by a security guard for no reason. The pool staff which were mainly kids seemed accustomed to them and liked them but for me that was just bad decision making by park staff. Unarmed guards if any guards at all who have a good rapport with police would be a better choice imo. Also if you are going to spend millions on new facilities,(which I am sure they are) please fix the pool,as it needs resurfacing and fixing of steps and fresh paint and new brightly colored plastic pieces that work in the kiddie pool, and other facilities like restrooms and exercise equipment throughout the park with some of that money as well.

Ducks, turtles, birds etc. They have a play ground, picnic area and plenty of areas for your dog to sniff around. I was a little disappointed they didn't have more Doggy stations. I brought a bag with me but when there's an unexpected 2nd poo, you're stuck having to do a whole lap to get one and go back.

They have a nice field in the center of the park for playing sports with your kids, sometimes you will see people playing soccer or Frisbee. Throughout the year they do have festivals and different events here at the park and I must say it is nice that they have the Agavero Cantina Parkside (Mexican restaurant) that has been now for two years. They just updated their patio. Overall this is a nice park. They do not have any tennis courts as they were taken out to increase parking spots, but they do have a nice multipurpose trail for those who like to bike. In total, the trail is about 10K if you do an entire loop on both sides. Overall, if you live nearby, this is a great park. Shows how beneficial even a 1 mile of trail can be to connect neighbors, and offer an alternate, pleasant travel corridor. They have a nice picnic area and a beautiful walking path. There a baseball park here and open batting cages. Great place to take the kiddies and families. And you have the excellent South Peachtree Creek Trail for a walk starting there. Right now the restrooms are closed due to Covid situation. It's a dog friendly park. Walk from Willevee Drive across boardwalk and path to Mason Mill Park which is a very peaceful trial. The trail connects to other trails so could be good for a short walk or a longer run if you wanted to keep going. It's an easy enough walk for most to handle. Well shaded by trees and also saw several bike riders, strollers, and wheelchairs. There are well marked signs to inform walkers and runners of distance and elevation, as well as seating along the trail for rest and nature watching. A wonderful place to explore or relax. Parking is usually plentiful during the week. Very well maintained and policed. I would really recommend this place.

I feel like most playgrounds in Dekalb are closed, and then there's this muddy, dilapidated monstrosity. It's seriously always a mud pit. I don't get why there's always so many kids here.. and that's why I can't take my son, he's two, he could walk by and enjoy the rest of the park but always hears the other kids and HAS to run over. Half the swings are missing. The bottom of the slides are almost 2 feet off the ground, even on the little playground, launching unsuspecting kids right into the muddy grime. Since it is relatively new, all the equipment is in good condition and well functioning. Honestly, there are a lot of things to keep kids occupied from swings to slides. I can keep myself busy if you ask me :) There are some benches to sit around/have a picnic but overall not very big. The park is gated so it's fairly secure and there is plenty of parking. There is an adjoining open area if you want to get your dogs and let them play around (note: this area is not a true dog park as there is no place to throw doggy poop other than going back into Ethridge park and throwing it in there). Seriously, that's nearly everyone who wants to be outside! Regarding hiking, the trails are not marked very clearly. The map doesn't show all the turnoffs, and it gets confusing. Maybe it's this way to give you a sense of adventure? At least it's tough to get really lost since you're often within sight of houses or the road. Beautiful woods! As for restrooms, there was a porta potty in the parking lot adjacent to the playground by Lake Erin, and the map indicates that there are other restrooms in Henderson Park too. Speaking of maps, I might recommend a quick peek at one before you go since the park can be accessed from different roads (Henderson and Livsey). Didn't get to explore the other side of the park with the native plant and wildlife walk this trip but next time!

This is a great neighborhood park. If I lived nearby, I'd take a walk here every chance I could. In addition to the trails, there are athletic fields, a kids play area and a great wide deck where people can look out at the lake or eat a nice lunch. There is a lot of parking and the park itself is well-maintained. I was able to find a map of the park trails online, and it was helpful but trail maps aren't perfect. I tried to walk as many of the trails as I could, but I was turned around a lot. We'd also had a lot of rain prior to my visit so a lower trail path by the lake was flooded. There is a small waterfall in the park, and I think I saw it but I'm not sure. There were a lot of rock formations in the creeks/streams, and none were labeled. I went to Henderson Park with a friend who needed to use the bathroom. The main bathrooms are located on the west end of the park by the soccer fields. On the east end of the park, there are port-a-potties. There are no bathrooms near the kids park which was a surprise and why I mention where the bathrooms are located. Overall, I'm glad that I gave Henderson Park a visit. The people who live nearby are lucky to have it.

There's even a horse stable and they have horse races on the weekends. It's beautiful!! Wills Park also offers a great seat for 4th of July Fireworks!! There's free parking at all times. There's also a dog park and a nice covered Pavilion to just sit answers relax in the shade! I'd highly recommend this park if you're in the area.
