The W Barcelona was life changing for me. There is no experience that I can ever compare it to nor will I try. It's a stand alone slice of heaven--from the incredible views, the outstanding service and the food. My pictures do it only a small justice, but it was a 10 day adventure that will live in perfection in my mind forever. Muchas gracias!

July 2024: I would say 4.5 stars...After our cruise, we spent a couple more nights in Barcelona near the beach, and W Barcelona was the perfect choice with its high-energy vibe and unbeatable location right on the waterfront. We were thrilled to get a surprise upgrade to a massive suite with stunning ocean views and a huge balcony--it truly made our stay feel extra special. Everything about the experience was wonderful--the room was sleek, modern, and high-tech, making it both stylish and comfortable. We ordered room service from the restaurant below, and not only was the food excellent, but the pricing was also surprisingly reasonable for such a high-end hotel. The walkability was fantastic, and we loved that it was in a completely different part of Barcelona from where we stayed at Cotton House before our cruise, giving us a fresh experience of the city. The crowd here was definitely younger, a little pretentious and energetic, perfect place for us when we were in our 20s and 30s, LOL..but the clientele was somewhat diverse and included people who were proud AARP members. We are so grateful for the amazing upgrade and overall experience--W Barcelona truly exceeded our expectations! Would absolutely stay here again.

If you're visiting Barcelona to get a taste of the cities unique culture, don't stay here. During our trip to Barcelona we stayed a few nights in each of the major city districts and decided to try this beachfront location for a more upscale luxury experience. That said, we weren't impressed with this hotel. Yes -- the ocean views are STUNNING and the gym was impressively equipped. And though we enjoyed walking the beach boardwalk where this hotel is situated, the W feels like it's exclusively for lazy Americans who want a safe bet stay. In fact, this place makes you feel like you never even left the US! I am very happy we only stayed 1 night here. It's also a VERY far walk from all of the cultural hot spots that make Barcelona so special. I personally don't mind 35-45 minute walks but I know for some vacationers, this would be a turn off. If you want a super unique upscale city experience for HALF the price I strongly recommend checking out places like Hotel 1898 or Hotel Colon. Both offer stunning rooftop views, pools, and saunas and they're a fraction of the price of the W. Plus, you'll be walking distance to all the super cool points of interest in the city!

What an amazing experience I had in Barcelona and the W Hotel gave me the ultimate vacation experience!!! The restaurants, spa, ocean side views, the outside pool, the indoor warm pool, jacuzzi, and the waitstaff were phenomenal!!! That is just a piece of what made this place unbelievably grand!! ALL of the food was fresh and the variety of eats, liquors, & spoils made me want to stay another 4 days. There is NO way I will revisit Barcelona and not return. I will ask for the same room. Trust and believe. Enjoy.

Stay here if you're traveling to Barcelona! I booked at the W Barcelona pretty last minute because I changed my itinerary to fly into Barcelona a couple days earlier. The hotel was recommended to me but initially, I wasn't sure if it was worth the price. After staying here, I would recommend this spot to anyone and here's why. 1. Barcelonetta is a vibe. Even though it's similar to Santa Monica or Venice beach (in Los Angeles, CA), it's a chill area to be in and definitely pleasant to stay at. The hotel itself is tasteful, clean and has amenities like an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, a pool deck, lovely spa for the guests only, complimentary access at their rooftop bar Eclipse. If you do end up staying here, be sure to just show your wristband to skip the line. No need to wait :) 2. The people. This hotel is family friend but you can also find young people staying here. I noticed that everyone was friendly and attractive. 3. The location: I didn't the nightlife but hear that a lot of the bars are in the barcelonetta area. It's not too far from the sightseeing spots (maybe 15 minutes or so by cab), and there's lots of Taxis just outside of the hotel. There are restaurants downstairs and also along the beach so dining is convenient. 4. The rooms: Some of the rooms have oceanfront views, but I ended up staying in a suite on a lower floor facing the city/ front of the hotel which I also loved. The room was luxurious and the bedding was so comfortable that I googled to find out what kind of bedding they use. They actually have a website and sell their own beds, pillows and comforters! Oh and that Davines shampoo & conditioner made my day! Woohoo!

So I didn't actually stay at this hotel so I can't comment on the quality of the rooms themselves, but I used to work at the W Austin and have stayed at the W New Orleans and I know those are gorgeous so I'm sure this one is too. I did still come here though to eat at the restaurant (FIRE) and go to the rooftop bar (ECLIPSE), so can confirm the location of the hotel is stunning (right on the edge of Barceloneta beach near a gym/workout area). The view at night from ECLIPSE over the city is lovely and I imagine also stunning first thing in the morning since you have a view of both the whole beach and ocean as well as the city. The lobby has that trademark W scent (it's actually a thing, they have air fresheners etc. that they sell with that trademark smell - it's clean and lovely). I do recall looking at rooms to see if I could afford to stay here but just know the cheaper ones ranged from $300-400 and that was a couple years ago, so it might be more now. Nevertheless, because it's a W hotel I'm sure it's extremely nice if you actually stay here. Can confirm the food at the restaurant was expensive but good and the bar is super swanky (but also SUPER crowded - there was a line to get in and we left maybe 5 mins after arriving because it was just so packed and hard to get drinks or sit anywhere).

Hotel room with view - large rooms but a lot of wear and tear and needs updating. The shower smelled of mold and bleach!

Over hyped hotel and far from luxury for the price they charge. The rooms look tired, our shower reeked of chlorine and mold and they literally give you only two towels. The food at the restaurant by the pool "fire" was mediocre at best and the lobby bar menu was disgusting! We tried the octopus which was the most disgusting flavor combo I have ever experienced. I can see the appeal of the hotel if it's super nice weather to hang by the pool and beach but outside of that the hotel wasn't our vibe. We stayed at the edition for 3 days before moving to the W and wish we had stayed there as the W was overall a disappointment. The hotel needs TLC and the service was subpar as well!

    Perfect view!

The view and bedrooms were amazing! They also have amazing nightlife in the building along with pool parties ! Best thing when we got back to our room after a night out there was 6 water bottles waiting there all complimentary! Definitely will be back !

Look no further, book your Baecelona holidays here way ahead!!! I had a work related event at W Baecelona and really wished I had more time here for personal vacation time. The location of the hotel is second to none in Baecelona. The bar and restaurants are outstanding but not overly priced! The room can be really expensive depending on the time of the year! The view from my room was gorgeous!

There is no better location than the W in Barcelona. Pool and lobby bar are hopping and full of activity and energy. The rooms are a bit outdated, but you can't beat the views.

W in the distance with great restaurants all around.

I was so impressed by everything we experienced at the W Barcelona! From the exquisite view of our room on 15th floor to the Amazing breakfast and food offered throughout the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend the W for location amazing vacation and the best service I have ever see !!!

EXPERIENCE: Overall, the W Barcelona did not meet my expectations and I would not stay here again. On night #3, my next-door neighbor threw a disco party and woke me up at 2AM. I called the front desk and had to wait for a good 5 minutes before someone even picked up the phone. Then I waited another 40 minutes for security to come up and actually had to call the front desk again to follow up. Eventually security shut down the party next door and the front desk apologized the next morning by giving me $100 refund. However, the whole experience was RUINED. This should not be happening at a place that brands itself as a luxury getaway. Guests deserve to get a night of restful sleep, at the very least. This experience was DEEPLY DISAPPOINTING. Additionally, when I initially checked in, the front desk staff could not find my reservation. I had to pull up a PDF of my reservation number to show them. The front desk staff then proceeded to take another 10 minutes to make copies of our passports - I understand it's likely standard proceedings, but 10 minutes really? ROOM: Have nothing to complain about the rooms as they were relatively spacious, very clean, chic and modern. We had ocean view and it is stunning! We also had a beautiful (almost panoramic) view of the city and could see the tip of the Barcelona Cathedral (and maybe a little of Sagrada Familia). Loved waking up and opening the automatic curtains with a bedside button - never gets old! RESTAURANT: During my visit, the only restaurant operating was FIRE in the lobby. I was under the impression that there would be additional food options but perhaps they are under renovation. We arrived at the hotel around 8pm and wanted to grab a quick bite at FIRE. However, we were told that there were no tables available until 9:30pm, even though about 1/3 of the tables inside were visibly empty! Perhaps they just didn't have the staff? We also had breakfast at FIRE every day - my family went early (before 7:30am) so there was no wait, however the line extends halfway across the lobby if you arrive later. Must be unpleasant to have to wait for so long for breakfast. The staffing ratio was also quite inadequate as we would have to wave multiple times and wait for a while to get coffee/orange juice refilled. The food was decent however the overall dining experience was undermined by the often-crowded surroundings and slow service. LOCATION: Loved the seaside boardwalk and the landmark building. However, if you are here to tour the city, it's not the most convenient location. Regardless, this didn't bother me too much as there was many cabs available. Hotel staff was also helpful in hailing cabs for guests and telling the cab drivers destination in Spanish.

I did NOT find my bliss at the W Barcelona...

Beautiful, well-appointed building, lobby sitting areas, restaurant, etc. Staff were friendly and very accommodating with bag storage, delivering bags to our room before we returned, restaurant recommendations and more. The rooftop is big with pool, bar and a number of seating areas for a 360 view of the city. Relaxing place to sit with a drink. Spa in basement is nice with all amenities. You have to reserve use and it's capped at 30 mins. Rooms are decent size allowing for suitcases and still moving around room. Bathroom is clean and has everything needed including heated towel rack and bidet. Although robes weren't included we found some at spa we used for the remainder of our trip. Lobby is very spacious and comfy, and there is live music in Thur-Sun. Great place to relax with a drink after exploring all day. Breakfast was extensive and a nice start to each day. Included made to order as well as plenty of ready made options for all palettes. The Not as Good We reserved both a superior and classic room but couldn't tell the difference for an additional 130 euros. The front desk said the superior had "more light." Potentially but not sure that was described as difference for what we paid. The rooms lack power outlets. Nothing by bedside. USB by desk but no USB-C or Int'l plugs. We had phones plugged in behind chairs, tea kettle sitting on floor, laptop in bathroom... The subway is underneath the hotel and even though we're on the 4th floor it was loud with lots of vibration. We had Do Not Disturb on for our entire trip but staff entered regardless and made up room. Not a big deal but surprised us and meant we had to put our belongings away every time we left not knowing who would enter when. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we would come back but many hotels we passed by looked like good options as well.

TLDR: Come for the rooftop views of Barcelona, not so much for the stay…read more While Barceló Raval's rooftop offers one of the best panoramic views of Barcelona, the hotel itself is giving knockoff of the W. They try to give off that sexy, mysterious vibe, but as soon as you step into the room, the green ceiling, cheap fixtures and damask wallpaper give it away. The hotel is reasonably "affordable" for its location (near the Gothic Quarter and La Barceloneta), but definitely in a sketchy area. I highly advise walking outside the hotel at night, as you'll find the rough crowds your parents warned you about. The nearest metro station is about a 10-minute walk, and to get there, you have to cut through some of the sketchiest alleys. I booked through Expedia and was upgraded to a room with a view, a bottle of mini wine & an extra bottle of water. My amenities weren't so great from the moment I opened the door. Since my room was pretty high up, the room was stifling & those views were blocked by a stainless steel mesh. FYI: your room requires a key card at all times if you're trying to use electricity, which includes air conditioning. The shower initially felt luxurious--spacious with a giant waterfall head and solid water pressure--followed by lush bath towels, but that impression faded once I noticed the pockets of mold and grime in the corners. Sleeping was also a challenge since walls are thin and anytime the guests next to me entered their room, it sounded like someone was entering mine, which kept me paranoid and on high alert. Rooftop: the rooftop not only offers panoramic views of Barcelona, but also has a bar and pool, though hard to even suggest the pool is an amenity since it's more so for aesthetic than functionality. On the roof, it's not an open floor plan, so you'll have to walk around the building to get a full 360 view. For those who are height deficient such as myself: prepare for obstructed views because of the high railings (great for safety, but not so much for those under 5'3).

I booked a signature room through my travel agent, and was delighted that they allowed me to check in a couple of hours early AND upgraded me to a signature balcony room. The hotel is very cute snd colorful, with modern design. The room was clean and pretty spacious, and the balcony was such a nice touch! I liked opening the windows every afternoon and sitting on the chaise and reading. There are refillable water stations on each floor by the elevator, which was a small but big perk to me. Awesome water pressure and temperature, kind, attentive service by staff, and incredible rooftop bar made this a fun place to kick off my stay in Spain. Small gripes: As a short person was the bathroom tub was a bit tall for me to climb into and out of. There was not a true fridge/freezer in the room; the staff was kind enough to store something in their freezer for me but it felt too out of my way to ask them to do it too often for me. The lobby bar drinks were fine but nothing to write home about. Overall though this is such a great hotel and I'd absolutely stay here again. It feels luxe but had very reasonable rates, even right after Easter which is peak tourism. The rooftop bar is very much worth a visit, beautiful views of the city and a fun, lively vibe. I cannot recommend this hotel more!

10/31 Le Meridien…read morewas born with the idea of providing Air France staff a place to stay when transiting during the Starwood years. Now, as a Marriott owned brand; Le Meridien continues the French spirit within their walls. Purpose: my first ever Transatlantic cruise in Spain began in Barcelona, and I was able to book a stay with this Le Meridien property in the center of town and 10 minutes to the cruise terminal. Location: Plaza de Espana is roughly 10 minutes by foot, nestled in a baroque building, and foot steps away from major transit lines, shopping, dinning, and entertainment. The cobble stones were very, well cobbly; considering that construction on the curbs lining the walkable streets were on-going. Conveniently 30 minutes away from and to the Barcelona airport by way of shuttle. At First Glance: you will find the main entrance to the hotel after making a turn into an alley way. Bell staff are eager to assist with luggage when making way up the marble steps to enter the hotel. The lobby is flanked with a cafe and seating area to the left. Men's and women's restrooms are in the center of the lobby, while to the right sits the front desk/concierge/bell desk and to the far right are the guest elevators and hotel restaurant. I found that the design of the lobby is reminiscent of; can I say classic French (think - semi translucent glass, red oak, black finishes, and velvet furniture). The Welcome: the registration agents were quite cheerful. It was roughly 11am and I was fully aware and prepared to hear that our room was not ready. The agent assured that I'll get a call as soon as my room is ready. Our luggage was collected, stowed, and distilled waters were provided to us for the long day ahead. We received a call back with the hour, though we did not return until later in the evening. The Room: the same design language seen in the lobby is carried out through into the guest room. A small balcony, while doesn't seem to allow a single person to walk onto, it does open to provide fresh air. My only caveat for the room was that the glass door to the bathroom wouldn't close entirely but that the room was spacious, clean and functional. While our room was assigned to the 2nd floor (3rd floor in actuality) we did not hear too much street noise. Having traveled for 18+ hours and being extremely tired; being able to sleep in a comfortable bed was much needed. The Next Morning: as a Bonvoy Platinum member; I opted in receiving buffet breakfast for 2 in lieu of welcome points. European hotel breakfast hits differently in comparison to those enjoyed in the United States; variety being the biggest draw. I came into the restaurant with my eyes wide open and scouring all of the hot stations. Everything offered was absolutely delicious. There cherry on the top; a mimosa station - a game changer. We bided adieu to our one night stay at this Le Meridien hotel, thankful for a full nights rest and looking forward to a future stay whenever that may be.

The main draw of the rooftop restaurant is the incredible view where you can see all of Barcelona and the towering cathedrals. Service was friendly. On a different day, we tried there spritz hour, which seemed to be marketed as two spritzes for €12. However, we each got charged €12 which I think was the price on the menu anyway so I don't know what happened there. The hotel room was cozy. Bed was very comfortable. The layout was a bit odd if you imagine that the room is a U-shape, the bed is the bottom of the U, which makes sense. However the bathroom was split up with the toilet on the right side and the sink and shower on the left side so after you use the bathroom, you would have to walk to the other side of the hotel room to wash your hands. It's not like the room is big, but it's just kind of odd for layout, especially if like luggage is dispersed across the room and you have to walk through all that.
